Chapter 25: Sonoro Sphere
"Hm... Although it was quite light for me, it seems that you still can't wield it?"
Danjin stabbed the sword through the ground, letting it rest there.
While looking at the demoralized Katsuri, she thought of something.
'Could it be that it's just adrenaline that helped her carry it previously?'
After all, Katsuri herself had confirmed that she had indeed carry it around before.
Maybe this sword has sentience?
Then how come she could wield it?
Many other questions floated across her head but none could be answered.
"Maybe there's a condition."
"Condition?"
Katsuri met her gaze slightly before turning away again.
"Yes. Since you had lifted it before, that means that it's not the weight that's the problem. Tell me again, how heavy was it previously when you carried it?"
Katsuri's mind drifted to when she first found the sword.
Although it took quite a bit to remove it from the rubble, once it is out, it was very easy to swing around.
"...Very light? I can easily swing it around, yeah."
"In that case, we can't push out the idea that there's a certain condition needed to wield."
Katsuri listened intently.
"Then? What is the condition."
"That's what we need to figure out. Since I can wield it right now, it would be a good thing that I test things out first."
Danjin grabbed the handle of the sword and lifted it off the ground.
With the tip facing the sky, she swung it, but not before telling Katsuri to back up.
Her eyes turned red as red trails follows the sword's trajectory, making sounds of air being slashed.
"But first, we'll need enemies."
Danjin turned around to look at Katsuri before extending her hand.
"Come on, follow me."
Katsuri grabbed her hand as they walked at a pace even her short legs could follow.
Not long after their walk, a group of Tacet Discords appeared behind the trees.
"There they are. I usually wouldn't go actively seeking them out like this unless an order is given but we're trying to figure out something. You wait here while I test things out."
Katsuri nodded her head before moving towards a bush, hiding inside.
Danjin watched from the side, quite confused on what she was doing.
'You don't have to hide... Oh well, that's alright too. Safety first.'
She smiled before calmly walking towards the Tacet Discords. Since they were all the smaller variants, it doesn't look intimidating at all.
But that doesn't matter since they're also mindless beast that feast on others' frequencies.
The TDs doesn't seem to have noticed her as she got closer and closer every steps.
It was not until she's directly behind one before the others took notice of her.
Swoosh!
With one singular cut, a Tacet Discord was absorbed back into the surroundings.
Many other slash was also delivered as more and more Tacet Discords disappeared.
It wasn't even a fight, just a one sided slaughter.
But while all this are happening, Danjin still kept track on what she needed to do.
'Next, I should focus on my intent.'
She wasn't swinging mindlessly. Many things was confirmed.
For example, it's alright to kill.
In fact, she had confirmed this fact quite a while back when the Exiles had surrounded both her and Katsuri previously.
That's good. A weapon is made for killing, not decorations.
Now Danjin as trying to see if intentions affects the usability of the sword.
What kind of intention should she test first?
"..."
One final slash, and the Tacet Discords has all been absorbed back into the surroundings.
There's one easy things.
'I will kill you.'
Malicious intention aimed towards the innocents.
Of course, she herself had never injured anyone who had never have the history of committing crimes.
She had vowed to always carry her sword in the name of Justice, to rid the world of all it's evil.
And to get revenge.
There is a chance that the person she's searching for was in Rinascita, that's the reason she had requested a visit here.
Of course, making an intention and putting the resolve to do it was very different.
First of all, who can she target currently?
There's one nearby.
She felt a bit guilty but it is needed to confirm the sword's condition.
'Speaking of which, this sword is going to need a sheath.'
The blade was exposed. That's not really good since it would affect the blade faster as it is exposed.
Danjin placed the sword on her waist, next to her own sword so that it doesn't touch her.
Wouldn't want to get cut by your own weapon after all.
"I'm finished, Katsuri."
Danjin walked back towards the place in which Katsuri had hidden herself in.
Although she could probably see everything that had happened, she still decided to call out to her.
But as she got closer, something seemed odd.
Rustle Rustle
While the bush did moved, it didn't seem like anybody was in there.
'Did she move?'
Danjin tried moving the bush around, trying to see if Katsuri was still inside.
But there's nothing.
Danjin's smile fell from her face, a frown replacing her gentle eyes.
She closed her eyes to listen to the surroundings, trying to see if she could locate Katsuri.
"..."
There's nothing.
It's like she was never here.
Danjin lost her composure for a moment before calming herself down.
She knew that Katsuri is weak, but that doesn't mean she could move far from here. At most, a couple hundred meters before she would ran out of breath.
Which means that she's nearby.
So Danjin quickly ran around to see if she could locate the girl.
Meanwhile our protagonist...
[Wuthering Waves]
"...Where the fuck am I?"
Flames, scorching heat, and intense black smoke was everywhere.
Sweat was pouring down her face like waterfall, proving just how hot it was here.
'I was just hiding in the bush, why am I suddenly here!?'
Indeed, nothing seemed out of place at first. But at some point, right as Danjin was about to swing her sword, she blinked.
And now, she's here.
A small house was positioned right in front of her as fire was lit across the forest that kept the house safe.
It was like hell on earth.
Well, maybe not earth but you still get the idea.
