After the duel.
Jaden Yuki caught Alexis Rhodes, who was secretly watching from the crowd.
Grabbing her arm, Jaden pulled her out.
"Did you make this?"
Cornering Alexis in the hallway, Jaden unfurled the promotional poster in front of her. On it, boldly written, were the words: "Drink Coffee, Challenge Jaden Yuki."
However, to Jaden's surprise, Alexis didn't argue. Instead, she immediately and respectfully admitted her mistake.
"Because you're so famous, Jaden, I thought I'd use your name to attract more people to the class event."
"If I caused you any trouble, I sincerely apologize!" Alexis bowed deeply.
Her posture of admission was so sincere that Jaden felt awkward saying anything more.
"I wasn't trying to accuse you of anything… Next time, it's best to ask me first before doing something like this."
Sighing, Jaden's annoyance dissipated by half. He had no objection to dueling. After all, as a card fanatic, he'd do anything as long as he could duel.
But these inexplicable women weren't here for dueling at all, were they? And their dueling skills were simply too weak. After dueling so many people consecutively, the system hadn't even settled a single duel point for him.
"Then, Jaden, are you allowing us to use your name to attract customers?" Alexis's eyes lit up.
After the morning's promotion, using Jaden's fame, they had instantly attracted many customers. If he still allowed it…
"No. Way."
Jaden abruptly tossed out three words and turned to leave.
Are you kidding? Once was enough; do you want a second time?
"Figures…" Alexis gave a wry smile.
Watching Alexis follow behind him, Jaden frowned.
"What are you following me for?"
"You're going to look for someone to duel later, aren't you?" Alexis said without hesitation. "I want to observe your duels and learn your dueling techniques."
She was certainly frank.
But… what dueling techniques could one learn by following a dark duelist? Jaden found this quite perplexing.
"Fine, do what you want." Jaden put his hands in his pockets, no longer paying attention to Alexis beside him.
He was now going to look for a dueling opponent. He vaguely remembered that a month ago, Zane Truesdale had invited him to duel.
"Let's go look for him."
Beep, beep, beep.
Just as Jaden was about to go to the third-year elite dorm classroom to find Zane Truesdale, his phone in his pocket buzzed with a notification.
"Huh? Who would… at this time?" Jaden took out his phone and saw someone had sent him a message.
[Jaden Yuki, come to the Academy Plaza and battle me.]
"Who is this? A chuunibyou?" Jaden deleted the message with a look of disgust.
The message came from an unknown number, and it didn't even have a signature. It started with "battle me." Who is this "me"?
Who knew who sent this duel invitation? There were so many people in the plaza; he couldn't just go around asking everyone, could he?
"What's wrong?" Alexis glanced over curiously.
"Nothing." Jaden replied indifferently.
Seeing this, Alexis also sulkily closed her mouth and didn't ask any more questions.
...
At the plaza.
A dueling stage, funded by the Manjome Group, made a spectacular appearance before everyone.
Chazz Princeton stood on the stage, his Duel Disk on his arm, his arms crossed, his face grim. A crowd of onlookers gradually gathered around.
Watching Chazz stand motionless, steady as a mountain, people began to whisper.
"I heard this guy is challenging Jaden Yuki."
"Jaden Yuki? Isn't that the Duel League Champion?"
"Yeah, who is this guy? What's he thinking, challenging the Duel League Champion?"
"Are you guys stupid? This is Chazz Princeton, the third young master of the Manjome Group. Didn't you see the Manjome Group's logo on all these duel facilities?"
"Chazz Princeton? I heard he's also an incredible dueling genius, second only to Jaden Yuki in the first year, right?"
"In any case, this is going to be a good show."
Time passed minute by minute.
Ten minutes… half an hour… an hour.
Onlookers came and went. Most people had grown impatient and shook their heads, leaving. Only a small portion remained, whispering quietly.
"…"
Chazz Princeton stood on the stage with his arms crossed. He had been in this position for an hour. His legs felt a bit numb.
"Jaden Yuki…" Chazz's face turned somewhat grim.
That guy… did he not notice the challenge letter he sent him? Or did he simply not intend to accept the challenge, not even bothering to acknowledge him?
Thinking this, Chazz Princeton's face became even uglier.
Damn it… this arrogant guy.
