Last Chapter: Chapter 17

Yuzu gasped, her voice barely a whisper, "No way..." Her heart sank as her monster's attack dissipated, useless against the imposing falcon. With a shrill cry, the falcon swooped down, its massive wings cutting through the air. Before Yuzu could react, the creature swiped her monster aside, destroying it completely. Without mercy, the falcon charged at her.

Yuzu raised her arms instinctively to shield herself, but the force of the gust it unleashed sent her crashing backward. The wind howled around her, tossing her body like a ragdoll. When the storm finally settled, Yuzu struggled to push herself upright. Her body ached, cuts and bruises marking her skin.

Yuzu LP: 2000

Yuzu's gaze lifted to Shay and his falcon, their towering forms looming over her like unstoppable giants. From where she lay, they seemed like pillars of invincibility, towering far beyond anything she could hope to overcome. The air around them shimmered with a dark golden aura, an oppressive energy that seemed to pulse with every beat of the falcon's wings. Even the shadows cast behind them seemed to amplify their dominance, making the duo look like forces of nature that no mere duellist could challenge.

Shay's voice cut through the air like a knife, each word laced with malice. "This is what I do to scum like you who rely on Fusion Summoning. Understand this now, Yuzu Boyle," he spat, his words dripping with venom, the cruel smirk on his face were sending a chills down her spine. Every inch of her being screamed to fight back, but the oppressive aura around him made it hard to think clearly.

"You ain't leaving here today."

Chapter 18: Revealed Truths!! Return of the xyz Remnants Part 6

As Yuzu slowly raised herself to her feet, Shay looked at her intently.

"You still believe yourself capable of beating me?" He asked, his gaze like a fiery hawk staring into my soul.

In that moment, I thought of Kai, his battle with Yuto, his battle with Yuya. No matter how tough the situation got, he always pulled through till the end and came out a champion. As his student, I could lose here. A memory suddenly flashed into my head.

Yuzu placed a hand on my shoulder, her expression both gentle and firm. "Kai, what you're carrying isn't a debt—it's a legacy. Your teacher's teachings live on in you, not as a burden, but as a gift. If he believed in you enough to pass on his knowledge, don't you think that means you're capable of greatness?"

"Damn right I do!" I snapped, standing tall with renewed determination. "I carry a gift—a gift my teacher entrusted to me. His knowledge, his legacy, lives within me, and it's all the proof I need that I'm destined to defeat you, right here, right now!"

Shay's eyes narrowed as he studied me, a flicker of intrigue crossing his stern face. "Fine then," he said, his voice steady but edged with challenge. "Prove it to me in this duel. Show me the strength your teacher left you, and I'll tell you everything—about Kai and about Duel Academy."

The weight of his words hung heavy in the air, but I didn't falter. I reached for my Duel Disk, its sleek metal gleaming under the harsh light, and locked eyes with him. "You're on," I said firmly, my voice resolute. "I place two cards face down, then end my turn."

"I draw!"

Shay looked at his cards and like a seasonal duellist plans where already seeping through his minds. Shay nodded showing he had decided what he was going to do. "I'll normal summon Raidraptor – Vanishing Lanius!"

Raidraptor – Vanishing Lanius LV4 (ATK 1300/DEF 1600)

A sleek, dark bird emerged on the battlefield, its sharp feathers gleaming like polished obsidian. Its piercing yellow eyes scanned the field with predatory intent, and its wings gave off a faint metallic sheen as it spread them wide, letting out a sharp cry that echoed across the arena.

"And now, I'm heading straight into the Battle Phase!" Shay declared, pointing dramatically at me. "Raidraptor – Revolution Falcon, attack directly!" The falcon let out a piercing cry, its body shrouded in swirling energy as it dove toward me at full speed.

But I stood my ground, not flinching. "Not so fast!" I shouted, my Duel Disk lighting up. "I activate my Trap Card—Counter Gate!" A shimmering barrier appeared, stopping the falcon mid-flight. "Your attack is negated, and thanks to this card, I can draw a new one... and if it's a monster, I can summon it right away!"

I drew my card, the tension in the air thick as I glanced at it. My lips curled into a confident smile. "Perfect! I just drew Mozarta the Melodious Maestra!" I declared, holding the card high. A radiant figure emerged onto the field, her presence filling the battlefield with a graceful aura.

Mozarta the Melodious Maestra LV8 (ATK 2600/DEF 2000)

Shay raised an eyebrow, his smirk growing sharper. "Hmph. You really think that's enough to save you? Let me show you why you're wrong. I activate Revolution Falcon's special ability!" He pointed at my field as the falcon let out a piercing screech. "I can target one monster and destroy it. Then, you take damage equal to half its attack points. Say goodbye to your Mozarta, and prepare to take 1600 damage!"

The falcon dove at Mozarta, shattering her with an explosive burst of energy. The force of the blast sent a shockwave across the field, and I staggered slightly as my Life Points dropped.

Shay crossed his arms, his smirk unshaken. "We're getting closer to your defeat. Let's see if you've got what it takes to turn this duel around. I end my turn."

I steadied myself, gripping my deck tightly. "Very well!" I declared, my voice steady with determination. "It's my turn!" I drew my next card, feeling the energy of the duel surge through me. This wasn't over yet.

"First, I activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards," I said, a spark of hope reigniting in my chest. "Then, I'll activate Monster Reborn, bringing back Mozarta the Melodious Maestra!"

Mozarta the Melodious Maestra LV8 (ATK 2600/DEF 2000)

The hologram of Mozarta flickered into view, and I smiled. "Now, I activate Fusion Recovery, allowing me to add back a fusion material, along with my Polymerization. The monster I choose is Soprano the Melodious Songstress!"

With a swift motion, I placed the cards down. "It's time for my comeback, Shay. I activate Polymerization to fuse together Mozarta and Soprano the Melodious Songstress!"

As Yuzu clapped her hand together, the field filled with an ethereal glow as the two monsters blended into one. "With the grace of music and the power of harmony,

From the depths of melody, rise, Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir!

Let your notes of victory echo through the duel!

A symphony of strength, a dance of destruction!

Bloom Diva, take the stage and show them your beauty in battle!"

A stunning figure emerged from the fusion, her presence commanding the battlefield as her song seemed to reverberate through the air. Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir stood tall, ready to turn the tide in my Favor.

Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir LV6 (ATK 1000/DEF 2000)

Shay looked at the singer as he frowned. "I am not impressed. My monster still has twice the amount of attack point as yours."

"Allow me to tell you something my teacher once told me. Its not the attack points that always matter. Its their effects. Its time for battle, Bloom Diva, attack his Revolution Falcon. Energy Ball of Harmony!"

A green magical ball of energy appeared the elegant creature. The beautiful singing voice of the creature rang out across the building, as her attack increased in strength and power before finally, it shot forward like a bullet towards the falcon. Shay, expecting his monster to be unaffected by this was shocked at what happened next. The ball of energy encased the monster, trapping.

"I activate Bloom Diva's effect. Whenever it attacks a special summoned monster, it deals you damage equal to the difference of our attack points and destroys your monster." Shay looked on in shocked as the ball exploded, sending powerful shockwaves towards Shay and sending him flying.

Shay LP: 3000

"Oh, and don't forget," I added, a confident smile spreading across my face. "Thanks to Bloom Diva's special ability, it can't be destroyed by battle. Good luck figuring out how to take it down. I end my turn."

Shay stood up, brushing the dust off his jacket as the intensity of the duel crackled in the air around us. He locked eyes with me, his smirk unwavering. "Impressive," he said with a hint of admiration, his tone still sharp. "I guess I just got a taste of my own medicine. You've got skill, I'll give you that."

He crossed his arms for a moment, the smirk turning into a determined grin. "But don't get too confident. This doesn't change anything—I'm still the one who'll end up victorious in this duel." He raised his Duel Disk with a dramatic flourish. "I draw!"

The game was far from over, and the fire in his eyes made it clear that he wasn't backing down.

"This is how a real duellists duel!"

With Yuya and Yuto

The world before me was unraveling, crumbling under the sheer weight of destruction. The moment I entered the suffocating dust cloud, the chaos swallowed me whole. The once-solid structure had been reduced to a collapsing ruin, its skeletal remains groaning as they buckled under their own weight.

Through the thick veil of dust, I could barely make out the fractured remains of what had once been walls—now jagged, uneven shards jutting out like broken teeth. The ground beneath my motorcycle trembled violently, shifting like it was alive, fractured debris spilling into the streets. Every breath I took was heavy, the air thick with pulverized concrete and the acrid stench of burning metal.

A sudden tremor rattled the wreckage ahead, and then, like a beast exhaling its final breath, the last remnants of the roof collapsed inward. A massive chunk of rubble struck the earth with a deafening crash, sending another wave of dust and shattered stone surging outward. I gritted my teeth, bracing against the impact as pebbles and shattered glass peppered my jacket.

Through the chaos, I searched desperately, my heart hammering against my ribs. "Yuya!" I shouted, my voice barely cutting through the howling winds of destruction. The silence that followed sent a cold, numbing dread crawling up my spine.

Then, a flicker of movement.

A figure—small, barely visible amidst the swirling haze—lay among the rubble. My breath hitched as I yanked the brakes, skidding to a stop. Disregarding the unstable ground, I jumped off the bike, my boots crunching against loose fragments of broken stone.

Yuya.

His body was sprawled amid the wreckage, his duel disk barely clinging to his arm, the screen flickering erratically. Blood streaked his temple, trailing down his cheek, mixing with the dust that coated his face. His chest rose and fell in shallow, uneven breaths.

I sprinted forward, stumbling over the uneven terrain, every muscle screaming at me to move faster. As I reached him, I dropped to my knees, my hands hovering over him hesitantly before finally gripping his shoulders.

The moment Yuya weakly muttered my name, a wave of relief crashed over me—but it was fleeting. His voice was fragile, barely above a whisper, and the way his body trembled beneath my hands sent a sharp pang through my chest.

"Don't worry, Yuya, I'm here," I assured him, trying to steady my own voice despite the lingering adrenaline surging through me.

His breathing was shallow, and for a moment, I thought he would slip back into unconsciousness. But then, his eyes cracked open slightly, unfocused and dazed. "Where's… Yuto?"

The question caught me off guard. "Yuto?" I echoed, my brows knitting together. "Wasn't he fighting Yuma?"

Confusion twisted in my gut. There was no way Yuto could have caused this level of destruction… right? But as I looked around at the ruins surrounding us—the shattered remnants of a battlefield too real, too violent to be the result of a normal duel—I felt an unsettling chill creep up my spine.

Before I could dwell on it further, movement in the distance made me tense. Two shadows emerged from the swirling mist, their figures becoming clearer with each step.

I instinctively shifted in front of Yuya, my body going rigid as I prepared for whatever—or whoever—was coming. The air was heavy, thick with tension, as the figures finally stepped into the view.

The mist parted like a veil, revealing a silhouette bathed in an eerie purple glow. Step by step, the figure emerged, his presence exuding something far more menacing than before.

Yuto stood at the center of the destruction, his posture rigid, his expression cold and unfeeling. His normally sharp eyes were darker, void of their usual intensity, replaced by something… hollow. Shadows clung to his form like a second skin, flickering unnaturally in the dim light. But what sent a chill down my spine wasn't just Yuto himself—it was what loomed behind him.

Towering over him was Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, its massive wings spread wide, crackling with unstable energy. Its jagged, violet-lit scales shimmered like fractured obsidian, pulsing with a power that seemed almost alive. The dragon's glowing blue eyes bore into me, filled with unrelenting hunger, its mouth parting slightly to reveal rows of razor-sharp fangs. Tendrils of dark lightning crackled around its body, the air distorting from its sheer presence.

The beast let out a low, guttural growl, shaking the ground beneath us as if warning us of the devastation it could still unleash.

Yuto's lips curled—not in a smirk, not in a sneer, but into something far more unsettling. It was a twisted expression, disturbingly unreadable, as if he were both amused and detached from reality at the same time. And when he finally spoke, his voice was calm… too calm.

"Kai… we meet again."

A cold weight settled in my chest. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.

I narrowed my eyes, my instincts screaming at me, my body already moving on its own as I activated my duel disk. "You're not Yuto, are you?" My voice was steady, but I could feel the tension coiling in my gut.

For a moment, there was silence. Then, as if my words had flipped some kind of switch, Yuto's expression shifted. The smirk that crept onto his lips was unnatural, dripping with malice. It wasn't Yuto's smirk—it wasn't even human. It was the kind of smile that belonged in a nightmare, the kind that sent an instinctual chill racing down my spine.

A low chuckle escaped him, dark and mocking. "Haha… so your memory really has faded. The old you would have recognized me immediately." His tone was laced with condescension, yet it carried something deeper—something familiar and wrong all at once.

My fists clenched at my sides as I stared him down. "What the hell are you talking about?"

Yuto—no, the thing wearing his face—tilted his head slightly, his eerie smile never wavering. "I'm hurt, Kai. Truly, I am." His voice dipped into something almost nostalgic, though tainted with venom. "We used to be such good friends."

The moment those words left his mouth, my breath hitched. The air around us seemed to grow heavier, suffocating. My mind raced, but I refused to let my expression falter.

I steadied my stance, my duel disk humming with energy. "I don't know who you are," I said coldly, "but I do know one thing." I locked eyes with him, unshaken despite the unease clawing at my insides.

"You're not Yuto. And I'm about to prove it." getting ready for a duel.

himself up from the rubble beside me. His body swayed slightly, but he steadied himself, his duel disk still strapped to his arm.

I turned to him, concern clear in my expression, but before I could say anything, Yuto raised an intrigued eyebrow, a ghost of amusement flickering across his face.

"Are you sure about this?" I asked cautiously, my eyes flicking between Yuya's battered form and the unsettling figure standing before us.

"Yeah!" Yuya's voice was firm, filled with unshakable resolve. His eyes locked onto Yuto's, unwavering. "Me and him— we started this duel, remember?"

His breathing was heavy, but his stance was strong. "We share this darkness, Yuto. The same darkness that's trying to control you… I can feel it too."

Yuto's smirk faltered slightly, his glowing eyes narrowing.

"You said it yourself, this duel," Yuya continued, "is how we're going to take control of it—together." His fists clenched, his voice rising with passion. "You hear me? You're not alone in this darkness, Yuto! I'm right here with you!"

Yuya's duel disk flared back to life, his deck shimmering in response. He raised it, eyes burning with defiance.

"And I'm going to help you fight it—starting right now!"

Yuya drew his card. As he glanced at it he smiled, as his plan was clear.

Raising his hands to the air, Yuya spoke. "First I'm going to activate the pendulum scale. Just like before I can summon monsters from level 4 to 7 all at the same time. Swing pendulum, carve the ark of victory." The pendulum once again appeared above us as it created a hole. "My monsters are ready. To swing into ACTION!!!" Four lifts escaped from the holes revealing Yuya's monsters. "First to arrive is Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon, next we have Performapal SkullCrobat Joker, say hello to Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer. Now welcome to the centre stage of this show, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"

Yuya's monsters stood in front of him proudly, as Yuya stared intently at Kai, determination oozing from his body.

"Now I activate the field spell Performapal Dramatic Theatre! This spell increases the attack power of my monsters by 300 for each different types of monsters I have. I currently have two so my monster will be increasing by 600!!"

"Wow!" I said in awe. I gave Yuya a thumbs up "Noice move Yuya." I told him. However, as I looked at him, I noticed something was off. Yuya seemed to be struggling as if fight something that wanted to control him.

"I won't let you control me. Not again." Said the strained Yuya, falling to one knee. He was already injured from the last attack, and it was taking everything he had to hold back the darkness inside him. As I rushed to Yuya's side, I noticed my card glowing again.

Red Eyes Black Dragon!

In an unknown area

On the other side of the city, Yuma was locked in a duel against two weaklings from the Leo Institute. He barely paid them any mind—just another pair of nobodies thinking they could challenge him and walk away victorious.

His most treasured monster, Number 39: Utopia, stood proudly on his field, its gleaming golden armor reflecting the city lights. The battle was all but over. Yuma was just about ready to deliver the finishing blow when—

A pulse.

The card on his duel disk, Utopia, began to glow, its light flickering erratically. The warmth that radiated from it sent an unnatural chill up Yuma's spine. His breath hitched as something clicked inside him.

Yuto… is dueling that Yuya kid?

The thought came out of nowhere, yet it felt undeniable. He could feel it, deep in his bones—like something was pulling him, demanding his presence. His fingers twitched over his duel disk as an unfamiliar sensation gripped him.

What's going on?

For the first time in a long while, Yuma felt something other than anger.

He felt uneasy.

Back to the duel

Yuya quickly got back to his feet, determined to finish the duel. "Time for battle! I attack your Dark Rebellion Dragon with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!!"

"Sorry but I don't think so. I activate the trap card: The Phantom Knights of Wrong Magnitring! This card negates your attack." Yuya grimaced. The only monster he had on the field that could take out Dark Rebellion has just failed. "Unfortunately, I have to now summon it in attack mode."

The Phantom Knights of Wrong Magnitring LV2 (ATK 0/DEF 0)

"Fine then, I'll attack it with Skullcrowbat Joker"

Yuto LP: 1600

"I'll attack your Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace with Perfomapal Pendulum Sorcerer." With Yuto's Phantom Knight having 0 attack points, it stood no chance against the magician.

If your done, I'll activate the spell card, The Phantom Knights Rank-Up-Magic Launch! This takes the evolution of my dark rebellion to a whole knew level. Prepare yourself for destruction as I overlay Dark Rebellion xyz Dragon to build the overlay network." Suddenly Dark Rebellion turned into a glimmering light as it flew up to the sky where the xyz circle had already formed itself. "When hope is shattered and despair takes flight, the darkness rises to claim its might! With chains of rebellion and a soul unchained, emerge now from the abyss untamed!

Xyz Summon! Descend, Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon!"

Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon Rank 5 (ATK 3000/DEF 2500)

Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon was a fearsome embodiment of darkness, its obsidian scales pulsing with an eerie violet glow. Jagged wings, wreathed in ghostly blue flames, stretched wide as if ready to engulf the battlefield in despair. Its piercing, glowing eyes radiated cold malice, while chains of dark energy coiled around its form, crackling with unstable power. With every movement, the air around it trembled, bending under its overwhelming presence. And when it roared, the very shadows seemed to writhe, as if the abyss itself had awakened to consume everything in its path.

We stared at the dragon in awe as it roared towards the dragons.

"Yuya, be careful." I warned "That dragon looks dangerous."

"I got it!" Said Yuya, determined. "I set two cards face down."

"I believe its my turn. I draw!" said Yuto, swiftly drawing his card.

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon Rank 5 (ATK 2500/DEF 2000)

A vortex swirled above the field, and with a deafening roar, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon emerged, its purple lightning crackling with raw power. Yuto's grin widened as the dragon's piercing gaze locked onto Yuya.

"You already know how this works, don't you? I activate Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon's effect! I overlay my Overlay Network once more, draining your monster's attack points and transferring them to mine!"

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon Rank 5 (ATK 4300/DEF 2000)

Purple lightning surged from Dark Rebellion, surrounding it in an ominous aura. It let out a deep growl, revealing in the power boost.

"Hahaha! Now it's over! Your destruction is inevitable!" Yuto's expression darkened. "And once I'm done, I am coming for you, Kai and your friend, Yuma Tsukumo!"

My eyes widened. Yuma!? Why does he want Yuma? And... since when are we friends!? But before I could make sense of it, Yuto pressed the attack.

"Now, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon! Wipe out his Performapal Skullcrobat Joker! Rebellious Claw!"

The dragon's razor-sharp chin glowed menacingly as it lunged forward, lightning surging from its claws. I instinctively took a step back, remembering the sheer destruction it had caused last turn.

Then—BOOM! The attack landed. Smoke and debris erupted from the impact.

As the dust settled, Yuto's smirk twisted into confusion.

We were untouched.

"What!?" he snapped. "Your monster was in attack mode! You should've taken damage!"

I turned to Yuya. He was still smiling.

That same confident, unwavering grin.

"You're right—I should have taken damage," Yuya admitted, that same confident smile still on his face.

Yuto's eye twitched. That grin was really starting to piss him off. "Then why didn't you!?"

Yuya chuckled. "Because before your attack landed, I activated Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's ability! Whenever a battle involves a Pendulum Monster—I take no damage!"

"What!?" Yuya snapped, his frustration boiling over. His fists clenched at his sides as he scowled at his untouched opponent. All that effort… all for nothing!

With a sharp exhale, he forced himself to calm down. "Tch… Fine. I end my turn."

Meanwhile, I was barely holding back my laughter. Seriously? This is the same guy who fought me yesterday in Yuto's body?

If it really was, then he was nothing like before.

"Didn't I tell you already?" Yuya said firmly as he gripped his deck, his eyes locked onto his opponent. "We're going to conquer that darkness together!"

He took a deep breath, then pointed directly at Yuto. "I'm talking to you, Yuto! The real one still inside! We're going to break through and bring you back by defeating this imposter in front of us!"

With a surge of determination, he drew his card. "I draw!"

The moment the card left his deck; a glimmer of energy surrounded him. A spark of something bigger—something undeniable.

Everyone there felt it.

I felt it.

Yuto felt it.

Even Yuma, all the way across town, felt it.

Yuya was about to show us something huge!

Yuya was about to make his move when sudden laughter echoed through the air.

"Hehehehe…" Yuto chuckled darkly. "Foolish boy. You really think you can defeat me? You have no idea who I truly am, do you?"

Yuya's expression hardened. "I don't need to know," he shot back. "You made me hurt my friends, and for that—you're going to pay!"

Yuto smirked, shaking his head. "Oh, you'd be thinking otherwise if you knew."

Then, his gaze shifted—to me.

"You must have realized it by now, Kai." His voice dripped with amusement. "After all… you're from the Fusion Dimension, aren't you? My other self must be one of Duel Academy's top-ranked duelists. Am I right?"

I froze.

Yuya's eyes flickered toward me, confusion flashing across his face. Fusion Dimension? he thought. But before he could process it, something else hit him.

Other self…?

His mind reeled. "There's no way he means him, right?" I thought, my thoughts racing with questions I didn't have time to answer.

I clenched my fists. No. We can't let him get inside our heads.

"Yuya, don't listen to him!" I called out. "We have to finish this duel and bring Yuto back—now!"

Yuya nodded, his grip on his cards tightening.

Yuto let out another eerie laugh. "Heh…hehehehe… You still don't get it, do you?" His voice deepened, an unsettling echo behind his words. "I am him. I am you. I am two other people. Even if you defeat me here, I'll still exist… waiting… until my inevitable return."

Yuya's eyes burned with determination. He took a deep breath, then pointed straight at Yuto.

"Well then," he declared. "for now, Let me give you a proper send-off—from Yuto's body!" Yuya showed us Timegazer magician in his hand. "I use Scale 8 Timegazer magician and the Scale 3 Performapal Seal Eel in order to set the pendulum scale. It's time to end this!" The pendulum once again swung proudly in their air, creating a hole to unleash his monsters wrath. "Welcome them back to the party, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Skullcrowbat Joker and Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer!"

"Now I activate the spell card Polymerisation!" Yuya said revealing his card. 'Is he summoning Rune-eyes Pendulum dragon.' I thought. Rune-eyes was strong, but it wasn't going to win this duel.

The fusion wheel formed as Yuya's two monsters where enveloped in it. Yuya clasped his hand as he spoke,

"When darkness corrupts and hunger festers,

A dragon born of venom takes flight!

Through fangs of poison and shadows untamed,

It devours all in endless night!

Fusion summon! Rise and spread your toxic reign—

My new addition to the team, Starving Venemy Dragon!"

Starving Venemy Dragon LV8 (ATK 3100/DEF 200)

From the swirling darkness, Starving Venemy Dragon emerged, its serpentine body slithering through the air like a phantom. Its eyes glowed with a sinister light, and its razor-sharp fangs gleamed, dripping with venomous energy. The dragon let out a guttural snarl as its wings unfurled, releasing a toxic mist that twisted and corrupted the battlefield around it.

Yuya's cape fluttered in the wind of its arrival as he raised his arm high.

The monstrous fusion monster roared, its presence sending chills through everyone watching. Yuya and I stood there in slight shock at the new monster. 'When did Yuya get this monster?' Was what was going through our minds. Yuto looked slightly scared. The dragon looked to much like Starving Venom fusion dragon.

"Now I activate the spell card Wavering Eyes, With this card I can destroy as many cards in the spell/trap zone and activate the effects on here. I destroy Perfomapal Seal Eel in order to deal you 500 points of damage." Suddenly a ghost arose from the card, flying its way up to the seal and strangling it, destroy it effortlessly. Then it flew fearlessly past the two dragons as it punched Yuya right in the face.

Yuya LP: 1100

"Now I activate Starving Venemy's effect. It steals the identity of your Dark rebellion on my field!!" Suddenly Starving Venom changed into Dark Rebellion, roaring as it did. "Not to mention, your monster lose 500 attack points."

Yuto widened his eyes. "Wait, that means-"

"You lose" I said with a smirk

Yuya's eyes locked onto Yuto's dragon, determination burning within him. "Starving Venemy Dragon, unleash your power!" he shouted, thrusting his arm forward. "Venomous Eclipse!"

A dark aura erupted from Starving Venemy Dragon as toxic fumes oozed from its body, twisting through the air like living shadows. Its eyes flashed a sinister violet as it reared back, opening its maw wide.

Dark energy coiled around its fangs, forming a swirling vortex of venomous corruption. Then—BOOM!—it launched a devastating wave of toxic energy straight at Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, creating a large explosion.

"Mark My words Yuya Sakaki, Kai Akimoto, I will destroy you!" Shouted Yuto as he was sent flying, His head flinging backwards as if to signify something leaving his body.

Yuto LP: 0

Winner: Yuya

Suddenly, a bright flash illuminated the area. Yuya and I quickly covered our eyes before it could assault us. The light lasted for about 5 minutes before dying down.

"Agh, what the hell was that!?" I groaned, rubbing my eyes as they stung from the sudden burst of light.

Yuya blinked rapidly, trying to shake off the disorientation. "I... I don't know," he muttered, glancing around. His expression quickly shifted to concern. "Wait—where's Yuto!?"

My head snapped forward, looking at the spot where Yuto had landed. But… nothing.

Gone.

"He's gone!?" I blurted out, stepping forward as if I could somehow bring him back just by looking harder.

Yuya's fists clenched, his breathing unsteady. "No… That can't be right! He was just here!" He spun around, scanning the empty battlefield. "Yuto!!" he called, his voice laced with desperation. But there was no response—just the eerie silence of the aftermath.

Before either of us could process what had happened, Yuya's Duel Disk beeped, its screen flashing. A call. Declan?

Yuya answered instantly. "Declan, what's going on?"

Declan's voice was sharp and urgent. "Forget Yuto for now—you need to get to the place you last found Sora, kai. Now."

My eyes widened. "What!? Why!?"

There was a brief pause, then Declan's next words hit us like a thunderbolt.

"Yuzu is dueling someone we believe is also from the xyz dimension."

My breath caught in my throat. Yuzu… against someone like Yuto and Yuma!?

Yuya's face drained of color. "No way…!"

Declan continued, his voice dead serious. "She's in danger. If you don't get there fast, it could be too late."

Yuya didn't even hesitate. He was already running. "Kai, let's go!"

I snapped out of my daze, heart pounding. "Right behind you!"

We took off, sprinting as fast as we could. There was no time to think, no time to question—just one single thought driving us forward:

We had to get to Yuzu before something terrible happens.

With Yuzu

Yuzu stood there alone.

The battlefield around her was in ruins—a stark reflection of the duel's aftermath. Shattered debris lay scattered at her feet, the lingering echoes of clashing monsters still ringing in the air. But none of it mattered.

She felt drained, like every ounce of strength, every bit of emotion, had been ripped away. Her chest rose and fell in uneven breaths, but she barely felt it. Her hands trembled at her sides, though she didn't even notice.

Her gaze was empty, staring into the void.

Trying to make sense of everything she had just learned.

But no matter how hard she tried… the pieces wouldn't fit.

The truth had crashed down on her like a tidal wave, overwhelming, merciless. And now, she was drowning in it.

Alone.

"Yuzu!"

Two voices called out in unison, urgent and desperate.

But Yuzu didn't move. She didn't look up.

Or rather… she didn't want to.

She stood frozen, her fingers tightening into fists. A storm raged inside her—fear, doubt, heartbreak. She knew that if she met his gaze, if she saw the expression on his face, the image she once held of him would shatter.

And she wasn't ready for that.

Shay's words still echoed in her mind, relentless and cruel. Kai was responsible for his past.

And now, this was the aftermath.

The weight of that truth pressed down on her like an unbearable force. The sound of approaching footsteps made her stomach twist, but she still couldn't bring herself to turn around.

Yuya and I had finally found her.

We skidded to a stop behind her, both of us catching our breath.

At first glance, Yuzu looked relieved—like she had been waiting for us. But the moment I got closer, something felt off. A weight in the air. A tension clinging to her like a shadow.

Yuya, oblivious to the shift, kept his usual energy. "Hey, Yuzu!" he called out, looking around. "Where's that bastard you were fighting? You already kicked his ass?"

Silence.

Yuzu didn't answer. She didn't even flinch. Her eyes were hidden beneath her bangs, her shoulders unnervingly still.

My chest tightened. Something's not right.

"Hey!" I called out, stepping forward. My hand shot out, gripping her arm as I turned her toward me. "Are you alr—"

SLAP!

The sound cracked through the air like a thunderclap.

My head jerked sideways from the impact, my cheek burning.

I froze.

For a moment, the world around me dulled into nothing but ringing silence. I barely registered the sting—what truly stunned me was her.

Yuzu stood there, her hand still raised, trembling. Her breath was shaky, her lips slightly parted as if even she couldn't believe what she had done.

But what shook me the most—more than the slap, more than the sting—was the look in her eyes when they finally met mine.

It wasn't anger.

It wasn't hate.

It was pain.

Something inside me twisted.

"…Yuzu?" My voice came out quieter than I intended, uncertain, searching.

But she didn't say a word. Tears started falling freely as she looked me dead in the eye. Yuya shifting uncomfortable behind us, still unsure about what was going on.

I was about to say something when she spoke. "So that's why?" She said before pausing. Her ragged breath itself was demonstrated how much of an effect this talk was having on her. "That's why you wouldn't tell me your past, you monster!" Yuzu shouted as she barged past us, running away.

"Yuzu!" Yuya shouted as she ran after her. He stopped for a minute to look at me, conflicted as to what he should do.

"Go!" I said quietly, not even looking back at him.

As Yuya ran after her, I looked up to the ceiling, one thought running through my head.

That slap hurt more than it should have

On the other side of the city

Yuma stood there, fists clenched at his sides, his body tense with fury.

Around him, a pile of unconscious Leo students lay scattered at his feet, defeated one by one. His breathing was ragged, chest rising and falling with each deep inhale as he forced himself to calm down. But the fire in his eyes refused to die down.

He was pissed.

'How many more of these guys are going to come after me?' he thought bitterly, shaking the sweat from his brow. They had come at him nonstop, swarming like vultures, desperate to take him down. But he wasn't about to fall. Not to them.

But that wasn't what had him on edge.

His fingers twitched, and his grip on his Duel Disk tightened. He knew Yuya and Yuto had duelled… but that was it. The outcome? A complete mystery.

And that did piss him off.

His gut churned with unease. Were Yuto and Shay okay? Had something happened? He had been too busy dealing with these damn Leo goons to find out.

With a frustrated growl, he stomped forward, stepping over the defeated duellists without a second glance. His jaw was clenched so tight it ached, his mind racing.

'Yuya… Kai… I swear If you Duel Academy bastards did anything to them, I will personally make your lives a living hell.' As he started running towards the place he felt the battle.

"Hold it!" a voice came out. Yuma froze. 'Another one'

Yuma turned around to face the man who dared to interrupt him in chase to find answers. Standing there stood the man he had been looking for upon arriving to this dimension.

"Declan Akaba." Stated Yuma coldly, recognising the man.

Declan raised his glasses with his hands, as he stared intently at the powerful duellist in front of him.

"I believe, I have the answers you seek. In exchange, I want you to do something for me."

Authors Note: Pretty hectic chapter. Duels are always so long to write. Hope you enjoyed. We got the climax of Yuya and Yuto's duel this chapter, but many questions still arise. Where did Yuto disappear to? What happened with Yuzu and Shay and why did Yuzu slap Kai? What business does Declan Akaba have with Yuma Tsukumo. Comment down your guesses. My guess is that we shall find out next Chapter. Peace!
