Zenin's Last Plan:

Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Kashimo's Final Bid

Static Static Static

Throughout the barrier, the sight of floating spheres of pure lightning illuminated the ground. Growing larger as sparks of lightning flew up into the sky, conjuring into the spheres. Dancing on the destroyed ground were Kashimo and Mute.

A trail of beautiful lightning zigzagged through the city, cutting through buildings, as Kashimo violently swung his staff at Mute. Spinning it around his neck, Kashimo's right hand flickered, thrusting the glowing staff several times, piercing through the air, narrowly missing Mute, as Mute's body swayed.

Growing frustrated, Kashimo let out a deafening roar, as he twisted his body swinging his staff with all his might... Only to be easily caught by Mute, stopping it entirely. " Why!? Have you stopped using your curse technique? " Yelled Kashimo, yanking his staff out of Mute's grasp while stumbling back.

" A better question is, why haven't you used yours? " Responded Mute with a bored look on his face. " Tsk, my technique can only be used once. That's why. " Said Kashimo, his heart racing. It was apparent to anyone watching that Kashimo was running out of battery. His movements were becoming more and more sloppy.

His once unwavering eyes grew increasingly desperate. However, a slimmer hope filled those desperate eyes. " Really? Then you'd better use it unless you have a plan with those spheres you're forming in the sky. "

" Of course, I have one. Why else would I do it? "

" Oh. I figured you were creating fireworks for your death. " Said Mute as his body vanished, reappearing in front of Kashimo. Kashimo's eyes could only widen as a powerful uppercut slammed into his chin, launching him up into the sky. Kashimo's body slowly began to fall from the sky, blood spilling out of his mouth.

That single punch was stronger than anything Mute had previously thrown.

This could only mean one thing: a single thought ran through Kashimo's mind. " He's going for the kill. " Throughout this entire fight, Mute was only toying with Kashimo, something that Kashimo himself noted. A bloody grin crept onto Kashimo's face as he screamed out.

" Finally! You're trying to kill me! " A chaotic laugh escaped Kashimo's lips, while he contorted his body, flipping in the air with his staff tightly in his grasp. " Mute, you are easily the greatest sorcerer I have faced. So, let me ask you this simple question. Is there anything you can't slow down to a halt with your curse technique? "

" Against me? No, not really. Some things were harder to stop than others. I probably couldn't stop a domain from opening or some curse tools, why? " Asked Mute, glaring up at Kashimo, whose grin grew larger, as he extended his left palm to the side, channels of lightning spewing out his fingertips.

" You stopped using your curse technique. You haven't used a curse tool. You are barely using your arsenal, and yet I can't keep up. That changes now. I only got a few minutes, probably, but I'm going to push you to the brink of death. "

*Warp*

The air itself began to wrap, as Kashimo held his staff in front of him horizontally, the channels of lightning spewing out of his fingertips connected with the floating spheres, forming a ring of electricity around his body. The intense heat pouring from the ring melted the nearby ice of Uraume, sending steam up into the sky.

The steam flowed through the air before, in a flicker, several spheres pierced through it, hurling towards Kashimo, colliding with his staff. Veins burst out of Kashimo's fist, as his staff absorbed the lightning, stray lightning stripped through the air, slamming into the ground, scaring it.

A blue hue morphed into the air, darkening the sky, as the remaining sorcerers all in unison looked over towards Kashimo, sweat pouring down his face, before rapidly melting to the heat. Kashimo inhaled a deep breath, filling his lungs with air, as his feet landed on the ground.

With a spin of his staff, a tidal wave of lightning roared out, hurling towards Mute, but oddly, instead of colliding with him, the wave split, forming a glowing blue tunnel around Mute.

" Just the brink, huh? " Said Mute walking through the tunnel of lightning forming around him, Kashimo could only scoff, as he slid his feet apart, pushing the soil, as he squatted his spear pointed directly in front of him. " This is the final exchange, Mute. " Said Kashimo his eyes entirely focused on Mute's neck.

Mute extended his palm to his side, as a clunk of metal appeared in his hand.

" Bring it. "

When these two simple words were muttered, Kashimo exhaled loudly, his body beginning to glow a bright blue, until it vanished, sending gusts of air roaring out, a beam of light erupted towards the walking Mute, his eyes entirely focused on his charging body before...

He vanished, reappearing behind Mute, whose pupils dilated slightly in shock, as Kashimo spoke. " Mythical Beast Amber. "...
