"Darling... I'm sorry."

Nki's voice echoed...

Enix's eyes opened wide in an instant. He looked around and saw the woman holding Nki up in the air with her claws.

"Nkiiiiii!"

He looked at her in fear, then tried to run towards her, but suddenly from underground, some dark and red glowing shadow-like hands appeared and grabbed him around the waist, stopping him.

"Damn it! What is this?"

Then suddenly, a deep and scary voice spoke from behind him.

"You are trapped."

Enix's eyes widened as he heard that. He slowly looked behind—and saw his own body lying there... his dead body.

"Wha—" he gasped in shock.

Then he remembered he was stabbed in his heart by that woman's claw.

"No... way..."

The dark hands slowly turned him around.

"Such a young girl, what a beautiful body... I want you, I want your face! Ehehehehe," the woman said while holding Nki.

"Stopppppoo!!!" Enix screamed. He tried to break free from those hands, but they were too strong.

"Don't try, you poor soul. It's not worth it," the same scary voice spoke beside him.

There was a dark shadowy figure with red glowing eyes like stars, its body moving violently, shaking like electric waves.

"What the fuck is this!" Enix froze in shock.

The scary voice spoke again.

"You are already dead... you cannot do anything... look up there."

Enix looked up and saw the woman opening her mouth—sharp, spike-like teeth appearing, and her tongue long as a rope slipping out.

"Noooooooooooooooo! Damn it, don't do it!!!!" Enix screamed.

"HaHaHaHaHa," the scary voice laughed.

"You want to save her, don't you, poor soul?" it asked.

Enix struggled hard to break free, but he couldn't do anything.

"Damn it! Damn it!" His body slowly started to glow red.

"Yes, just like that, keep trying," the voice spoke again.

"Leave her alone!!! Or...."

"I'll kill youuuuu!!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" the scary voice laughed louder and said,

"Perfect! You want to save her, don't you?"

"Then accept my curse! You'll receive the power to save her."

Enix's eyes filled with rage. He gritted his teeth and yelled,

"Save her!!! I'll save her!!!!"

The voice spoke again.

"Are you sure? If you take my curse, then you'll be a demon! A MONSTER! Are you okay with that?! Hahahahaha!"

Enix screamed back,

"Whatever! I don't care! I just want to save her!!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!"

Nki slowly opened her eyes and saw the woman had opened her mouth, ready to devour her.

"Darling... I'm sorry," she whispered.

"I couldn't save you... I was selfish... just like always... You were the one who ended our long-distance relationship... You were the one who confessed first... You were the one who always did something for me...

"I JUST STAYED". I did nothing that could have made you happy..."

She slowly got closer to the woman's mouth. She closed her eyes and said,

"I am so—"

But before she could complete, a bright dark red lightning struck from the sky. It hit right in front of the woman. The sound of the lightning echoed across the area, and everything glowed red.

Nki slowly opened her eyes in confusion, then suddenly...

Someone whose body was completely a shadow appeared above them... and instantly appeared in front of the woman's face and punched it. As the punch hit her face, a red shockwave burst out, and the woman's upper head exploded into pieces.

The man kicked her hand, slicing it off instantly. He grabbed Nki and jumped down to the ground. Nki, in shock, looked up and saw the face of the shadowy man in the moonlight.

It was... Enix.

He looked different. His skin had taken on a deeper, earthier tone—like bronze kissed by storm clouds. Black and crimson lightning-like markings crackled across his cheeks, snaked down his neck, and coiled around his arms like living tattoos, pulsing faintly with energy. His eyes burned a fierce, glowing red, like embers smoldering in the dark, unblinking and wild. His hair, spiky and unruly, seemed to move with a life of its own, tousled by an unseen current. The hole in his chest was completely gone like it never existed.

"Darling..." Nki said while looking at him with wide eyes in disbelief. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She slowly brought her ear to his chest. And she heard it... the heartbeat.

Tears started flowing from her eyes, and with a shaky voice she spoke.

"You are... alive... you really are alive."

She hugged him tightly, sobbing loudly. Enix put his hand on her head.

"Didn't I tell you I'm here to protect you," Enix said in his own voice, just a little deeper.

As she heard him say that, she remembered something Enix told her—

("Nki, you don't have to go anywhere...")

("You just stay and I will... come to you... no matter what.")

She slowly looked at his face, her eyes filled with tears, and said,

"Darling... I—" but before she could complete, the woman appeared behind them, her upper head already regenerated.

Enix quickly grabbed Nki and shielded her. The woman grabbed them both and threw them up into the sky.

Enix's body started releasing red and black lightning particles, and the sound of something charging up filled the air.

"Aaaaaa!" Nki screamed in fear, grabbing Enix's shoulders tightly.

"Darling, what happened to you?! Why are you releasing shock like Pikachu?!"

Then zoom—they dashed toward the woman at lightning speed. A mirror appeared behind the woman and she tried to enter it, but before she could, Enix hit her with his knee and a huge explosion happened, shattering the mirror instantly.

Enix and Nki appeared a little to the side. As the dust faded, they saw the woman lying on the ground, her spine broken and a massive hole in her stomach. Her organs and purple blood were flowing out.

Nki stared at her in horror.

"I feel like throwing up," she said with a shaky voice.

Enix gently put her down. Nki looked at him in confusion and said,

"Darling... what is this..."

Her eyes widened in shock and surprise, then she screamed,

"Wait! Don't tell me you also became like that monster after dying!?"

Enix didn't reply. He kept his eyes locked on the woman. Nki looked over and saw her body slowly regenerating.

"What the! She's healing!" she said in panic.

The woman stood up on her feet again and stared at them with eyes full of rage.

"DAMN YOUUUUUUU!!!!!" she screamed loudly.

Enix stood in front of Nki to protect her. He and the woman locked eyes.

"YOU WILL PAY FOR HITTING MY BEAUTIFUL BODY!!" she screamed again.

Then she dashed towards them at full speed. Enix raised his hand, ready to fight back.
