Darkness

That was all Arthur could see, stretching endlessly in every direction. He felt weightless, like he was floating in an empty void. Was this death? He had always imagined it would be… quieter. Peaceful, even. But something felt off.

Then, a voice echoed in his mind.

Congratulations.you have acquired the zombie system ]

Arthur's eyes snapped open.

His body jolted as he gasped for air, but something was wrong. He didn't feel pain—not the unbearable agony of having his throat torn out. In fact… he felt fine. Better than fine. Strong. Alive.

Slowly, he sat up, his fingers brushing against the cold, damp ground. His surroundings were dimly lit by flickering emergency lights, casting eerie shadows along the cracked walls of the underground tunnel. The smell of blood lingered in the air.

Then, he remembered.

The sewer. The mutated zombie. Olivia.

His hand shot up to his neck. There should've been a wound. A bite. Something. But his skin was smooth, unbroken—aside from a slight burning sensation, as if something had just healed.

"What the hell…?" he muttered.

Then he heard it—a soft shuffle, followed by slow, deliberate footsteps.

Arthur turned his head sharply.

The blue-haired zombie stood a few feet away, watching him. Its eyes, disturbingly human-like, gleamed in the dim light. It wasn't mindless, not like the others. It had thought. Awareness.

"You… what did you do to me?" Arthur demanded. His voice came out rougher than usual.

The zombie tilted its head slightly, amused. "I did nothing. You're the one who changed."

Arthur's heart pounded. Changed? No, that wasn't possible. He was supposed to be dead. He felt dead. But at the same time… he didn't.

Then, something even stranger happened.

As if responding to his thoughts, a screen appeared in front of him. Not on a device—just floating there in midair.

[Zombie System Activated]

Arthur's breath hitched. His mind struggled to process what he was seeing. A system? Like those old games people used to talk about? This had to be a joke.

The blue-haired zombie took a step closer. "You're not human anymore," it said calmly.

Arthur's fists clenched. "Then what am I?"

The zombie smirked. "That's for you to figure out."

Before he could respond, the creature turned and started walking away, its movements smooth and purposeful—nothing like the jerky, erratic motions of a normal zombie.

"Wait!" Arthur called after it. "Where are you going?"

It didn't stop. "We'll meet again, Arthur Green."

And just like that, the blue-haired zombie disappeared into the darkness, leaving Arthur alone with nothing but the flickering lights and the realization that his life—no, his existence—had just changed forever.

Olive came back with an adult but both were suprised to see that Arthur was not injured,once the adult came into closer view he could see the man

He was tall and well built wearing an office uniform,he had long white hair and an eye patch on his left eye,Arthur knew this guy,he was the leader of the Awakened organisation

'Something feels different about me somehow'

The man then looked around and spoke "I heard there was a zombie"

Arthur felt the sweat dripping at the back of his head and gave an excuse "Yeah,he was intelligent,but he left for some reason"

'Yah no way in hell I would tell him I was bitten'

Once the matter was cleared off they were sent back to their classes,as soon as they entered everyone's eyes were on them and soon questions started

"How did you escape?"

"Were you bitten?"

Arthur left Olivia to reply them while he went back to his seat to eat,when theatrer faded people began to talk about the awakening test coming up,a test to see if there awakened

"Sound stupid,I'd rather stay here than go outside,not like they have a choice"

'I mean why would you wanna further your life in danger?'

Arthur knew his own body better than anyone,he was a zombie,his skin felt cold and his hearing had increased significantly

'That awakening test is nothing but bad news'
