Chapter 4: First act of violance (Part 2)

In 1926,

Martyr Bhagat Singh formed the Naujawan Bharat Sabha Party. Their aim was to have religions unity and revolution in India. This party followed the core belief of Martyr Bhagat Singh that is, "if our country was to be free the communal wars needed to end."

In fact Bhagat Singh had strong views on religion and before being executed, he wrote an essay on religion.

The withessed his religious beliefs in October 1926. When many Hindus were celebrating Dussehra in Lahore. Just than there was a bomb blast. The Hindu believed that Muslim had set off the bomb. And so riots broke out between the two communities. And Bhagat Singh's Naujawan Bharat Sabha Party calm down both communities to stop the riots.

In April 1926, Bhagat Singh and his companions started publishing a Punjabi monthly magazine, "Kirti." This magazine was the first evidence of Bhagat Singh being a powerful writer. So much so, that when Bhagat Singh was arrested the first time, it wasn't because of his violent act, it was because of his writing. He was jailed because of his article published in the magazine and his bail was a set at ₹60,000 INR. The highest bail amount of the time. But Bhagat Singh wasn't only a powerful writer. He was a powerful leader of his organisation.

Although many leaders were fighting the British, they wasn't united. So Bhagat Singh took up the responsibility of uniting them. He organised a meeting of the revolutionaries in the country, in September 1928 at Delhi's Firoz Shah Kotla Fort. During this meeting, they came to several important decisions.

The Hindustan Socialist Republic Army, HSRA, was formed. And Chandra Shekhar Azad became the commander in chief. And Bhagat Singh became the party's All India coordinator. But there was a problem. Other revolutionaries claimed that Bhagat Singh was given an important position. But because his Turban, the British would easily recognise him.

So how could they solve this problem?

Bhagat Singh had the answer. He said the he would cut his beard to change his look. To make sure that no one recognise him. On September 1928, Bhagat Singh chopped off his heir in Firozpur. This example shows us that for Bhagat Singh, his country was above his religious or any other identity. He talked about this in an essay which he wrote in jail, is one of Martyr Bhagat Singh's biggest contributions of our world. A month after getting being appointed the All India coordinator of HSRA, Bhagat faced a challenge.
