30 Years in Whitebeard’s Crew, I Became Invincible

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: The Underground Emperor, the World's Latest Intelligence

Roy contacted Umit, the "Shipping King" of the underground world, who was responsible for the rapid transportation of goods within the underworld.

When Umit heard that Roy needed Seastone, he didn't hesitate and sourced it directly from the Beasts Pirates, arranging rapid delivery.

"Big Bro, Umit says it'll take a week to get the seastone here," Blamenco reported.

"A week is fine. We'll wait until the Seastone arrives," Roy replied.

A week passed quickly, and Umit personally brought the shipment by ship.

Umit was one of the emperors of the underworld, nicknamed "Deep Sea Current", specialized in logistics, which most smugglers couldn't touch.

His method of transport was straightforward, part of it didn't involve sailing on the sea surface but rather traveling through the ocean depths. Hence, the nickname "Deep Sea Current." Most of his transport ships were submarines.

After all, smugglers feared attacks on the surface, so many opted for submarine-based transportation. In this world, all kinds of ships existed, so submarines weren't surprising.

If Umit had the power of someone like the Golden Lion, he could've been the best courier in the world.

Don't underestimate him; even the Celestial Dragons' supply shipments were handled by him.

"Mr. Roy, the cargo has arrived," Umit said as he stepped out of the ship's cabin.

"Unload it," Roy instructed.

"Unload the goods!" Umit commanded.

His subordinates emerged from the cabin, all of them Fishmen.

Fishmen were naturally stronger than humans, and since his ships often traveled underwater, having a crew of Fishmen was far more efficient than any human sailors.

One by one, thin sheets of Seastone, resembling glass panels, were unloaded. Marco went up to inspect them, ensuring each piece was genuine.

Verification was simple: just touch it.

Both Marco and Blamenco were Devil Fruit users; a single contact with Seastone would render their abilities useless.

Seastone and the sea were different.

The sea stripped Devil Fruit users of their strength and ability to swim but didn't nullify their powers, only weakened them.

Seastone wasn't the same as seawater.

The sea stripped Devil Fruit users of their strength and ability to swim, but didn't remove their powers entirely. This was why Kaido was known as the "Strongest Creature" on land, sea, and air; he truly didn't fear the ocean. Even underwater, he could still use his Fish-Fish Fruit abilities to escape.

Seastone, however, was different—it not only nullified Devil Fruit abilities but also sapped the user's strength. But through training, one could adapt to its weakening effects, retaining some combat ability even while under its influence.

Most Devil Fruit users didn't lose their powers when submerged in the sea; it just weakened the user temporarily. Otherwise, Luffy would've died long ago during the Arlong arc when he was thrown into the sea. He only survived because Nami's sister dove underwater and pulled his neck up so he could breathe.

With their test, Roy and the others confirmed the Seastones were genuine.

"Got any intel lately?" Roy asked as he sat across from Umit. They both lit cigars.

"What kind of intel are you looking for, Mr. Roy? I haven't traveled much recently, so I'm a bit short on information," Umit said.

"About the Beasts Pirates and the Spade Pirates—how's the conflict going?" Roy asked.

Umit had expected this and nodded. "The Beasts Pirates have been recruiting a lot of convicts from Impel Down. Also, one of the Supernovas, X Drake, has joined their crew. Oh, and that Straw Hat Luffy showed up recently."

"Oh? Where did he appear?" Roy asked.

"In Sabaody. Someone spotted him there with none other than the Dark King Rayleigh, the former first mate of the Roger Pirates. Here's the paper."

Umit handed over a newspaper, the photo clearly taken deliberately and published by the World Economy Newspaper

Luffy's arm bore a distinct mark. Roy immediately understood—this was a signal for his crew to reunite in two years. His nakama would surely see the news.

"Anything else?"

"The other Supernovas have already entered the New World and are causing chaos. The Spade Pirates are currently attacking the Beasts Pirates' territories. From what I've heard, Jack the Drought will be making a move," Umit added cautiously.

"Jack, huh? That guy's nothing special," Roy said with a chuckle.

Umit then shared updates on Big Mom, the Red-Haired Pirates, and the World Government.

There were many intelligence dealers in the underworld, and while Umit wasn't as specialized as Morgans, he was still reliable.

"You're saying the Marines are already unstable?" Roy grinned.

"Well, not chaotic per se, but there's division. Many within the Marines want Aokiji to become Fleet Admiral, but the World Government insists on Akainu. If they push it through, it could split the Marines," Umit explained.

"That's entirely possible. If Aokiji leaves, plenty of Marines would follow him," Roy laughed.

"Yes. It's clear that more people in the Marines respect Aokiji than like Akainu," Umit agreed.

"There'll be fireworks soon. Anything else?"

"Oh, one more thing, about the Seven Warlords. Someone new might be joining," Umit said in a low voice.

"Who?"

"Edward Weevil."

"Hah, that guy…" Roy laughed.

"Yes. And there are rumors that he's… related to Whitebeard," Umit trailed off.

"It's no big deal. We've all made mistakes, hahaha!" Roy laughed heartily.

"Wait… is he really Whitebeard's son?" Umit asked, eyes widened.

"Well… yes and no. It's a messy situation," Roy replied cryptically.

Umit didn't fully understand, but Roy's expression told him that Edward Weevil did have some connection to Whitebeard.

"Besides Weevil, the new Warlords also include Buggy the Clown."

"Two new ones, huh? Let me see... that makes five now: Mihawk, Doflamingo, Boa Hancock, Weevil, and Buggy," Roy counted.

"Moria was reportedly killed by you, and Kuma defected. So they still need two more," Umit said.

"The World Government's struggling to find replacements, huh?" Roy laughed.

"It's not that they can't find people—it's that they can't find strong people."

"True. You need both strength and reputation to be a Warlord," Roy nodded.

Umit didn't ask Roy any further questions. He did as instructed, delivered the goods, gave the latest intel, and left.

After all, knowing too much can get you killed. Cooperating with an Emperor in the New World meant walking on eggshells. Roy was reasonable, but Big Mom and Kaido demanded tributes regularly.

These guys were tycoons and power players, but that didn't mean they weren't afraid of the Emperors. In the New World, the Yonko were monarchs and warlords, and they didn't need a reason to plunder.

Just because Roy was easy to talk to didn't mean you could pry into his secrets.

That's how people died.
