Chapter 17: Chapter 17: The Training Begins

The dense canopy of the forest rustled in the morning breeze, sunlight filtering through the leaves as Ace led the way with Luffy and Sabo following closely behind. The air was thick with the scent of earth and pine, a far cry from the bustling village they had left behind. The two boys, full of youthful energy, looked up to Ace, their newfound mentor.

Ace stopped at a clearing, the space wide and open, perfect for training. He turned to Luffy and Sabo, his expression serious. This wasn't just any ordinary training—he was going to push them to their limits.

"Listen up, both of you," Ace began, his voice steady and unwavering. "You've got the potential to be strong, but strength isn't something that comes easily. It requires discipline, willpower, and a hell of a lot of pain. If you're serious about being strong, you have to embrace that. Understood?"

Luffy grinned, eager to get started, while Sabo nodded, his face reflecting both determination and curiosity. They were ready, but they didn't yet fully understand the depth of what they were about to endure.

"Good. Then let's start with the basics," Ace said. "You'll need to be fast, strong, and you'll need to endure everything that comes your way. If you can't handle it, you won't survive in this world."

Without another word, Ace dashed forward, his body a blur as he launched himself into the first drill. His speed was beyond anything either of them had seen before. Luffy and Sabo struggled to keep up, but Ace was relentless.

"Keep up!" Ace shouted as he circled back, barely breaking a sweat. "I'm not going easy on you just because you're new to this."

The boys pushed themselves harder, sweat pouring down their faces as they tried to match Ace's pace. They had no choice but to keep going, no matter how exhausted they felt.

Ace moved with the precision of a seasoned warrior, performing strikes and dodges that seemed impossible to replicate. Sabo and Luffy followed suit, though they weren't as fast or as skilled. Their movements were sloppy, but Ace was patient, guiding them through each motion.

"Focus!" Ace snapped when Luffy stumbled during a jump. "Your body has to move like you've already mastered it. Don't think about it, just do it."

Luffy panted, trying to stay focused. "I can do it!" he grunted, his determination burning brighter than ever. He pushed himself, ignoring the ache in his muscles.

Sabo, meanwhile, was struggling to control his breathing, but he didn't give up. His gaze was intense, his body aching from the relentless drills. "I won't fall behind," he muttered to himself, clenching his fists.

Hours passed, and the sun moved higher in the sky. Ace didn't relent. He made them do push-ups, sprints, and leaps, all while maintaining a constant pace. He tested their endurance and mental fortitude. Every time they fell, they were made to get back up.

"Don't stop until you've beaten your own limits," Ace said with a cold, unwavering tone. "Only then will you become strong enough to survive in this world."

It wasn't long before both boys collapsed from exhaustion. Luffy lay on the ground, chest heaving, while Sabo wiped the sweat from his brow, panting heavily.

Ace walked over to them, looking down at his exhausted brothers. "You've still got a long way to go," he said, his voice softening just a bit. "But you're not weak. Keep pushing yourself, and maybe one day you'll be able to protect those you care about."

Luffy, ever the optimist, shot Ace a wide grin, his energy already beginning to return. "I'll never give up, Ace!" he declared, his voice full of confidence.

Sabo, though quieter, nodded, his resolve firm. "I'll get stronger. I won't let you down, Ace."

Ace gave them both a brief nod of approval. "Good. You're starting to get it. But remember, this is just the beginning. The real training starts tomorrow."

And with that, the three of them stood together in the clearing, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Despite their exhaustion, there was an unspoken bond between them—a bond that would only grow stronger as they walked down the path toward becoming powerful, unstoppable forces.

But Ace knew—strength wasn't just about power. It was about heart. And with Luffy and Sabo by his side, he was certain they would become more than just warriors—they would become legends.
