Chapter 160: Daylight kidnapping (2)
Damien chuckled upon hearing the words of the beastman. He picked up the apple from the fruit bowl and then cut it into slices before saying to Xavier and Wistoria, "Of course not; no matter how crazy I am for power and security, I will never ask you to do something so dangerous."
He handed the slices to Xavier and Wistoria and was about to pick up one for himself but the second he raised it to his mouth, Claw came flying inside the shack and snatched the piece of apple from him and gobbled it down.
[Yum. Nothing tastes better than something sweet after eating so much greasy meat.]
Damien was speechless when he saw that the beast had snatched even the apple slice after eating a bucket full of worms.
Wistoria laughed when she saw the expression on the face of Damien. She chuckled lightly before saying to him, "Get up. We are here to take you to training grounds; your friends missed you quite a lot when you were not here."
Damien rolled his eyes and he knew that she was teasing him; the only reason they missed him was because they all were lousy. Thus with him as a contrast, they didn't look that lousy.
"AHHH!!!"
Julian looked at his brother, who was twisting and turning on his bed. Just this morning, the healers had removed the affected area. Everyone in the family thought that his big brother would get better after that but—
"It hurts! It hurts so much!" Alec screamed as he clutched his leg that was bandaged after the healer was done treating him. The infection getting worse as it slowly climbed over his thigh.
Seeing this Julian recalled the words of the doctor who told him that removing the section of the leg was not going to work. He curled his fingers and turned to look at the servant who nodded and brought the bowl of curdled milk with blue mould to Alec.
"I don't—"
"Alec it will help in getting your condition better," said Julian with a stern frown. "You should drink it without much complaints."
His big brother looked at him with a helpless look in his eyes before bringing the bowl of curdled milk to his mouth and drinking it in one go.
"Urgh, cough… cough…" Alec coughed as he finished drinking the curdled milk. His face was scrunched up in disgust as he gagged and profusely started to sweat.
Though he didn't look good after drinking the curdled milk, at last he was no longer screaming and lay back down on the bed. But—
Julian looked at the infection that was spreading even more and said to his mother,
"This is not going to work. I already told you that blasting off a section of his leg was not going to help."
Lady Patterson raised her head and glared at her son with tears in her eyes. "What was I supposed to do? I also want your brother to get better. Don't I? It's just that his condition is not getting any better even though the most famous healer is treating him."
She sighed and then turned to Serena before saying to her, "Go and call Carl again. Tell him that the condition of your brother has aggravated even more."
Serena glanced at Julian, who looked distraught, and said to his mother, "Carl has no idea what he is doing. Look at my brother's condition. He has led him to become disabled but my brother is yet to show any sign of betterment."
"Nonsense, he is the most skilled healer—"
"And yet he can't do anything to save Alec," stated Julian firmly. "If you believe me, then you might as well listen to me and let me call the person who suggested letting Alec drink mouldy milk."
Lady Patterson hesitated upon hearing this.
"Mother! He is the only one who helped Alec feel a bit better or else the condition of my brother would have worsened by now," Julian insisted.
"Fine." Lady Patterson swung her sleeves and turned to look at the servants. "I will call him and see what he has to say regarding this situation."
Julian heaved a sigh of relief as he sent for a servant to bring Damien over to the Patterson manor.
Serena watched her brother and mother busy themselves as she turned to look at her brother. For better or worse, she had a feeling that it was too late.
Two hours later, when Damien was done treating the last patient of the day, the sound of wings flapping echoed in the surrounding area. A bit concerned, he raised his head and looked in the direction from where the sound came from when—
"Ack!"

Someone grabbed him around the waist and then flew right up in the air.
"Hey!" Damien yelled at the beastman but the owl beastman didn't say anything and continued flying.
Maui, who watched the entire attack, grabbed and escaped proceedings, was stumped. He looked at the sky dumbly before raising his head and shouting at the top of his lungs,
"Someone come and help! Lord Damien was kidnapped! Help!"
The Wolfe mansion was thrown into chaos and Damien, who was kidnapped, was just as stunned and scared; he did not understand what happened in the last few minutes.
And as he was afraid that he would be thrown to the ground, he didn't even struggle fervently. He simply lay limply in the arms of the beastman and said to him,
"I know that you guys are really proactive in a lot of things but can you at least send me a letter before kidnapping me like this? I mean, look at this situation. Everyone at my home must be scared silly by this sudden kidnapping."
He spoke for a long time but the man didn't say anything, which led to Damien releasing a sigh and dropping his head.
'Never mind,' he thought; since he had gone through so many things already this one was nothing new.
