AM I SUPERMAN?

Chapter 116: CHAPTER 114

Barry Allen pressed his fingers to his temples, trying to piece together fragments of memory. "Before the coma... there was lightning. I was with Iris…"

The memories came rushing back. He had been standing with Iris West, confessing his feelings. At that very moment, the particle accelerator at S.T.A.R. Labs exploded. A blinding bolt of lightning descended from the sky, striking him and throwing his world into chaos.

"Omigosh! Iris! Is Iris okay?" Barry asked, panic etched across his face.

Cisco grinned mischievously, teasing Barry as always. "Relax, dude. Iris is fine. She's been by your side almost every day. Oh, and there's another frequent visitor—Felicity. And, of course, Kaius."

Barry's eyes widened in surprise. "Kaius? Wait, are you talking about Liam Rogers? He came to see me? Did he say anything?"

Barry was stunned to hear that the superhero had been keeping tabs on him. After all, in his eyes, he was just a forensic scientist at the Central City Police Department, nothing special.

Cisco raised an eyebrow, amused by Barry's overreaction. "Yeah, him. But why are you so shocked? Kaius's not some untouchable god. He's just Felicity's assistant!"

Barry quickly realized that Kaius must have been concealing his true identity, so he nodded along. "Oh, right. Felicity's assistant. That makes sense."

"How long was I out?" Barry asked.

"Nine months!" Cisco exclaimed. "You've been in a coma for nine whole months, man! You're like the Rip Van Winkle of lightning strikes."

Barry's jaw dropped. "Nine months? That's… insane."

As Caitlin guided him back onto the bed, she said with a mix of concern and scientific curiosity, "Yes, and it gets stranger. We need to run some tests. Typically, your muscles would have atrophied after such a long coma, but instead, your body is regenerating cells at an accelerated rate."

Barry glanced down at himself, noticing his newly defined physique. "Wait a minute... Are you telling me the lightning gave me an eight-pack?"

Before anyone could respond, the sound of wheels turning drew their attention to the doorway. Dr. Harrison Wells entered the room, his gaze sharp yet warm. "It's good to see you awake, Mr. Allen. We have much to discuss."

Barry's face lit up with recognition. "Omigosh! You're Dr. Harrison Wells! I've always wanted to meet you!"

Harrison smiled slightly and handed Barry a lab coat. "Come with me. There's a lot you need to understand about what happened to you."

Barry followed Wells through the sleek corridors of S.T.A.R. Labs, where the doctor explained the events of nine months ago. He described the particle accelerator malfunction, the explosion that released a wave of energy into the atmosphere, and the storm cloud that formed as a result.

"Then, a bolt of lightning struck you, Barry. That energy didn't just stop—it became part of you," Wells explained.

Barry listened intently, but his thoughts drifted. As fascinating as Wells' explanations were, there was someone he needed to see.

After a quick goodbye to the team, Barry left the lab and headed straight for Jitters, the coffee shop where Iris worked. The moment he stepped inside, Iris spotted him, her eyes filling with tears of relief.

"Barry!" she exclaimed, running into his arms. They embraced tightly, the months of worry melting away in that moment.

"Are you okay? Does Joe know you're awake?" Iris asked, her voice trembling.

Barry shook his head. "Not yet. You were the first person I wanted to see. But I'll call him now."

Iris sighed in relief but quickly grew serious. "Dad's been swamped with work lately. There's been a string of bank robberies. Witnesses are saying they saw a storm inside the banks' lobbies."

Barry furrowed his brow. "A storm? That's... strange. Chemical weapons, maybe? I'll talk to Joe. He might need my help."

"Take it easy, Barry," Iris said gently, her concern evident. "You just woke up. It's not too late to help out once you've fully recovered."

As she spoke, a slightly overweight black woman passing by accidentally knocked over a cup of coffee on a nearby table. The cup teetered on the edge, and its owner exclaimed in surprise as it began to fall.

Barry instinctively turned toward the commotion, and suddenly, time seemed to slow to a crawl. He could see every detail—the coffee spiraling out of the cup, the arc of its trajectory, the cup tumbling through the air, and the slow descent toward the floor.

"What the…?" Barry muttered, blinking as time seemed to return to normal. The cup shattered on the ground, breaking the trance.

Iris quickly stepped in, apologizing to the coffee shop patrons and calling for someone to clean up the mess. She then turned to Barry, still oblivious to what had just happened.

"I have to get back to work," she said, touching his arm. "Why don't you go home? When Dad gets off work, we'll celebrate tonight, okay?"

Before leaving, Iris leaned up and kissed Barry softly on the cheek. For a moment, Barry was giddy—years of unrequited love seemed to culminate in this simple, perfect moment.

But then he noticed something strange. His hands were trembling, moving unnaturally fast. He clenched his fists, trying to stop the vibrations, but they only seemed to intensify.

Leaving the coffee shop, Barry ducked into a nearby alley. Away from prying eyes, he held up his wrist, staring at it as his hand blurred from rapid motion.

"What's happening to me?" he whispered, his voice laced with panic. "Why is this happening?"

Before he could process it further, his body seemed to move on its own. With a sudden burst of speed, Barry shot forward, slamming into a parked car ten meters away. The impact sent him ricocheting off the vehicle and tumbling into a trash can on the other side of the alley.

Groaning, Barry pulled himself out of the garbage, brushing banana peels and coffee grounds off his shirt. "Okay, this is officially crazy. I can't even control it…"

He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "I need answers. Cisco and Caitlin—they'll know what's going on."

Meanwhile, far away in the icy expanse of the Arctic, Kaius entered the crystalline halls of the Fortress of Solitude. This alien structure, originally a Kryptonian outpost, had been relocated and adapted by Clark Kent. Icicles and towering ice pillars gave it the appearance of a natural wonder, despite its advanced alien origins.

In the central chamber, a glowing hologram of Jor-El, Superman's Kryptonian father, stood waiting. His expression was calm but curious.

"Ah, Kaius," Jor-El greeted, his voice resonant and wise. "You seem... pleased about something."

"Yeah," Kaius said with a grin. "In Earth terms, I've had a small financial windfall. But that's not why I'm here. Joe, I want to build a spaceship—something we can use as a monitoring station in orbit. It could serve as the true headquarters for the Justice League, less conspicuous than anything we could establish on Earth."

Jor-El studied Kaius for a moment, his holographic features unreadable. Then he nodded. "An intriguing idea. The stars are vast, and a headquarters in space would indeed offer both security and perspective."

Jor-El's holographic projection shifted, displaying an array of starship designs, each more intricate and alien than the last. "I can provide you with over a million spacecraft blueprints," Jor-El explained. "Filtering for Earth's technological limitations and resources, the number is reduced to approximately 26,000 viable designs."

Kaius blinked. "Twenty-six thousand? That's still... a lot."

"Specify your requirements further," Jor-El suggested. "Do you need advanced cloaking technology? Interplanetary capabilities? Defensive measures? These factors will help narrow your options."
