Chapter 117: CHAPTER 115
"The spaceship doesn't need to be massive," Kaius explained, pacing slightly in the expansive Fortress of Solitude. "It should hold about a thousand people. It also needs to handle interstellar navigation and include a research base for weapon technology, a training facility for soldiers, a living area, and—most importantly—equipment to deploy individual soldiers directly to Earth."
Jor-El's holographic consciousness listened attentively. With a subtle nod, he waved his hand, and a data wall composed of thousands of glowing light points materialized in the void. Each point represented a miniature spaceship model, cycling through the Fortress's immense Kryptonian database.
"These specifications are being processed," Jor-El said. "The database will filter the most relevant designs."
As Kaius watched the glowing models shift and refine, his mind was suddenly interrupted by the familiar chime of the system:
Ding! Flash: Barry Allen, upgraded to Heroic in all aspects.
Kaius's eyes widened. "Barry's awake! And he's become the Flash!"
Smiling to himself, he mentally accessed the system interface to check Barry Allen's updated stats.
Barry Allen: The Flash (Card Details)
Card Color: Purple (Hero Level)
Race: Human
Main Effect: Enhanced strength, accelerated healing.
Additional Ability: Super Speed Force – Grants access to the Speed Force, enabling superhuman speed and abilities related to time and space manipulation.
Kaius studied the card's description thoughtfully. Barry's connection to the Speed Force made him one of the fastest beings in the universe. While Superman's speed was an extraordinary enhancement of his physical attributes, the Flash's speed was fundamentally different—it was tied to the very fabric of the universe.
The Speed Force, described as the source of all motion and velocity, was a metaphysical force akin to the laws of physics. It granted Barry abilities far beyond simple acceleration, including the power to manipulate time, traverse dimensions, and even rewrite history.
Kaius grinned as he recalled the debates he had heard in the past about whether Superman or the Flash was faster. "In pure speed, the Flash wins. The Speed Force isn't just fast—it's a law of the universe."
Equipping Barry's card in the secondary slot, Kaius felt an immediate connection to this mysterious energy. Yellow lightning surged through his body as if his cells had been electrified by raw power.
In an instant, Kaius felt an indescribable connection, as though he had tapped into the very essence of motion itself. His palm trembled, vibrating so fast it resembled a high-powered chainsaw. Golden lightning danced around him, crackling with energy.
"This… is incredible," Kaius murmured, marveling at the newfound power coursing through him. Even with a fraction of the Speed Force's energy, his speed now exceeded Superman's. "I can't wait to see what Barry will do with this."
Within seconds, Kaius refocused on the task at hand. For Jor-El, only a few seconds had passed, as if Kaius's thoughts had been compressed into micro-moments.
"After filtering, twelve spaceship models meet your specifications," Jor-El said, gesturing at the holographic projections floating in the Fortress of Solitude. "Each model is a scaled-down replica, proportionally accurate to the original design. You may examine them in detail."
Kaius squinted as he leaned closer to one of the models, enlarging it with a gesture. The more he zoomed in, the more intricate the details became—pipes, machinery, wiring, and an array of alien components. It was a dazzling display of Kryptonian engineering.
Summarizing his thoughts, Kaius muttered, "Three words: I. Don't. Understand."
Jor-El waited patiently as Kaius rubbed his chin and then declared, "You know what? Only kids make choices. I'll take—uh, just kidding. I'll go with CM139-Fortress Spaceship!"
Kaius pointed at a circular spacecraft model. It measured 320 meters in diameter and 95 meters in height, with a sleek, imposing design reminiscent of something out of a galactic fleet. It featured a phantom engine for long-range travel, fully automated operational systems, and robust modular areas for research, living, and combat training.
Jor-El nodded. "An excellent choice. This design is well-suited as a temporary space base. The phantom engine can connect to the outpost engines already present in this Fortress. Maintenance and operation will primarily rely on intelligent machines—but to begin production, you will need a functioning batch of such machines."
Kaius turned toward the Fortress entrance, recalling the robots Clark had destroyed when he first activated the outpost. "You mean those robots Clark fought? Those are the intelligent machines?"
"Correct," Jor-El replied. "Although Kryptonian materials are unavailable on Earth, suitable terrestrial alternatives can suffice. Once repaired, these machines can reactivate the manufacturing systems aboard the spaceship to mass-produce additional units."
Kaius frowned, pacing the icy floor. "Okay, but how exactly am I supposed to repair them? I don't have a Kryptonian engineering degree."
Jor-El raised his palm, summoning a projection of the intelligent machines. The components disassembled into floating parts, with detailed labels and explanations in Kryptonian script. Kaius glanced at the schematics and quickly realized he was hopelessly out of his depth.
"Yeah, no," Kaius muttered, waving his hand. "This might as well be ancient Sanskrit. Is there a faster way?"
Jor-El offered a solution. "I can transfer the required knowledge directly into your neural network. It will allow you to understand the engineering principles instantly. Shall I proceed?"
Kaius blinked. "You can do that? Of course, do it now!"
The holographic image vanished, transforming into a torrent of glowing data that flowed into Kaius's head. It felt as though boiling water was being poured over his brain, igniting his neurons with unprecedented intensity. His mind processed information at breakneck speed, absorbing the intricacies of Kryptonian technology.
For twenty agonizing seconds, Kaius endured the neural onslaught. To him, it felt like centuries of relentless study. As the transfer ended, he staggered, catching his breath.
"So… this is what Clark meant when he said he learned about 28 galaxies here," Kaius muttered. "Months in the Fortress probably felt like centuries of cramming."
No wonder Superman had an unshakable will. Anyone who survived this grueling mental training deserved to be called the Man of Steel.
A few days later, Earth's skies lit up with a meteor shower. Tiny fragments streaked through the atmosphere, burning brightly before disintegrating. However, several larger meteorites withstood the atmospheric entry, glowing like fiery projectiles as they plummeted toward Earth.
One cluster veered toward a desolate region in southern Kansas. The meteorites struck the ground with deafening impacts, leaving smoldering craters in their wake.
Kaius stood nearby, observing the scene from a safe distance. This was no ordinary meteor shower—it was the first shipment of materials for the CM139-Fortress Spaceship. Hidden within the fiery debris were containers of advanced alloys and components sourced from Kryptonian reserves in space.
Kaius grinned as he watched the recovery drones from the Fortress emerge, efficiently collecting the scattered materials. The project was officially underway.
"Next stop," he murmured, "the Justice League's first space base."
