Chapter 53: Tony in Shock! You’re Not from Around Here!
The glowing blue Arc Reactor spun once in Ye Li's hand before he inserted it back into Tony's chest.
Bang.
Ye Li gave it a light punch, sinking the Arc Reactor in place and successfully reconnecting it.
Cough! Cough!... Cough!!
Tony coughed violently a few times before catching his breath.
He patted his chest and gave Ye Li a resentful look. "Bro, could you be a little gentler..."
"Cut the nonsense," Ye Li said curtly. "Where's the suit? Don't tell me it's not finished yet."
"It's done. I was just about to notify you to come."
Tony, still weak, operated a control panel.
A platform rose in the distance.
On it were several high-tech suits, not the bulky Iron Man type, but rather more form-fitting ones.
"Once again, I owe you."
Tony expressed his heartfelt gratitude.
However, his way of expressing it was hard to stomach.
"There's only one Tony Stark! ...Oh, if I were a woman, I'd be head over heels for you."
Ye Li grabbed a few suits and said disdainfully, "Say one more gross thing, and I'll twist your neck too."
Hearing this, Tony glanced at Obadiah, whose neck was twisted awkwardly on the ground, his expression complicated. "He..."
"He's not dead. You deal with him yourself."
After storing away the portable suits, Ye Li tossed Tony a small black stick.
"Can you make this?"
"What's this?"
Tony noticed a switch on it and pressed it out of curiosity.
With a zzz, a blue light burst out and instantly cut off the corner of a table.
Luckily, he was holding it at an angle; otherwise, it wouldn't have been just the table that got cut.
"Jesus!"
Tony exclaimed, quickly adjusting his grip. "You didn't tell me this was a lightsaber! I almost stabbed myself!"
"So, can you make it?"
Ye Li didn't care whether Tony might get stabbed; he had an enhanced resurrection talisman in hand, perfect for bringing someone back.
"Hold on."
Tony approached a device, placed the deactivated lightsaber on it, and said, "Jarvis, analyze the structure."
Soon, Jarvis projected a series of data and structural analysis diagrams.
Jarvis's voice sounded: "Sir, I recommend testing the maximum power."
"Let's hold off on that for now."
"Oh, and remove Obadiah's access privileges. Elevate Black Spider's access to the highest level."
As he issued commands,
Tony pulled up a structural analysis of a crystal inside the lightsaber. "This is... the lightsaber's energy source?"
Jarvis interjected.
"Apologies, sir, I cannot do that."
"Mr. Black Spider's information is shielded by a special field, making identification and registration impossible."
"What the hell?"
Tony turned to Ye Li in surprise. "Are you an alien?"
"Just focus on your work," Ye Li said nonchalantly. "Whether I have access or not doesn't matter—I can come and go as I please."
"..."
What could Tony say to that? Fine. Impressive.
"The most unique feature of this lightsaber has been identified."
Tony pointed to a crystal-shaped component projected on the screen. "It's this. Jarvis searched the database—this material doesn't exist on our planet. And you still claim you're not an alien."
Ye Li thought to himself... Is this a Kyber crystal?
The system-rewarded lightsaber didn't require the user to have Force sensitivity. Ye Li had assumed its structure would be different, but it still contained a Kyber crystal.
It seemed this particular Kyber crystal was special, capable of generating a plasma blade on its own.
"Can you replicate it? Maybe find a substitute material," Ye Li suggested.
"I'll need to test its capabilities first."
Tony led Ye Li to the lower lab and brought out some alloys to test the lightsaber on.
"This is the gold-titanium alloy I use for my Iron Man suits. Let's see how it holds up… Ah, this!"
Before he could finish speaking, the lightsaber in his hand sliced through the alloy like a hot knife through butter…
This meant that this simple, unadorned weapon could easily slice him—and his Iron Man suit—in two.
Tony glanced silently at Ye Li.
Comparison really is the thief of joy.
Someone casually produced an item that could effortlessly destroy the battle armor he worked so hard to create.
After regaining his composure, Tony began analyzing the possibilities. "If I use Arc Reactor technology as a substitute energy source and modify the structure, I might be able to create something similar, but its power won't be as strong."
"The power will be reduced?"
Ye Li asked, "Not enough energy?"
The Arc Reactor was essentially a miniature nuclear device. It couldn't possibly be inferior to the system's special Kyber crystal, could it?
"It's not due to insufficient energy."
"The challenge is containing the plasma blade to prevent it from spiraling out of control, so the power has to be reduced."
Tony was also intrigued by the lightsaber.
If his Iron Man suit could be equipped with this kind of close-combat weapon, its combat capabilities would significantly improve.
So, he asked Ye Li for permission. "If I develop this, I'd like to equip my Iron Man suit with it as well… Don't worry, without your approval, I won't mass-produce it. Besides, the weapons division of my company is already shut down."
"Do as you like, but I have one condition."
Ye Li thought it was a good idea. "When the time comes, add it to Ghost Spider and the others' suits as well."
