Clang—

As the wheelchair crashed against the wall with a loud noise, Salo was thrown off by the immense force, tumbling awkwardly onto the carpet.

Link set down his suitcase and quickly approached Salo, lifting him with one hand and delivering a punch to his abdomen.

Salo's eyes widened in shock as he felt the crushing blow to his stomach, his eyeballs bulging out.

"Wow—"

Salo vomited up his dinner along with the alcohol he had just consumed, landing on the floor like discarded trash.

Salo, drenched in sweat and lying on the carpet, covered his abdomen with both hands, resembling a cooked shrimp as he desperately arched his back.

Mel watched this unfold and opened her mouth to speak, but recalling Salo's earlier words and actions, she merely opened her mouth without saying anything.

"Now, are you awake?"

Salo's muddled brain began to clear. He pounded the carpet beneath him and roared at Link:

"How dare you attack a councilor! You dare—"

"A councilor?" Link raised his chin slightly. "I see no councilor here; all I see is a stray dog drowning in alcohol and micro-light!"

Upon hearing "micro-light," Salo's eyes began to flicker.

"What are you talking about? Not only did you attack a councilor, but you also slander him..."

Before Salo could finish speaking, Link lifted him up and tore off his clothing, exposing the tattoos on his body.

"Where did these tattoo-like markings come from if you weren't using micro-light?"

With a mocking glint in Link's eyes, Salo's face turned a deep purple like liver as he glanced at Mel before angrily shouting in frustration:

"Yes, I was using micro-light! I was numbing myself with alcohol! But do you think I wanted this?"

"Look at my legs! Look!"

As Salo raged on, Mel instinctively looked at his legs. They hung limply like two useless pieces of meat, pathetic like dying slugs.

"If it weren't for these two legs, I would still be that prominent councilor basking in glory instead of being treated like a dead dog by you and subjected to your humiliation!"

"If my legs could still move, if I could stand up again, I would make you pay for your actions!!"

"Do you know?"

Fire burned in Salo's eyes as anger, hatred, and shame surged within him.

"Then what price would you pay to stand again?"

Link's tone was indifferent.

Hearing this, Salo scoffed coldly: "What price?"

"As long as it can heal my legs and allow me to stand again, I would even sell my soul to that greedy demon in two coats! I would spare no effort!"

"As long as I can stand up again, I am willing to pay any price—everything!!"

As Salo roared, Link brought him back to the table and placed him on the sofa across from it.

"Are you truly willing to pay everything?" Link asked Salo again while opening his suitcase to reveal the exoskeleton and micro-light potion inside.

Salo couldn't help but glance at the suitcase. When he saw the dreamlike micro-light potion that resembled a starry sky, he couldn't help but swallow hard.

He himself was a user of micro-light and knew just how captivating its power from the Undercity could be.

Moreover, despite his current despair, Salo still possessed the insight of a former councilor.

Seeing the exoskeleton stored within the suitcase ignited an uncontrollable guess in his mind.

"You... can you really make me stand again?"

Link took out a vial of micro-light potion from the suitcase.

"I can make you stand again; however, the price you need to pay is far greater than selling your soul for two coats!"

Holding the vial of micro-light potion in front of Salo, Link asked:

"So what is your answer?"

Salo's gaze was completely absorbed by the micro-light potion. He nervously swallowed while raising his head to give Link a pleading look.

"Kind sir, please forgive my previous rude and foolish behavior; it was merely a lost soul barking madly!"

"Please... please!"

As Salo begged while speaking, Link handed him the potion.

"Salo, you are an intelligent man; smart people like you know how to choose when opportunities arise!"

"Of course! My lord! Of course!"

"You must offer your loyalty, your devotion, and your faith," Link said with a low laugh.

"If you choose betrayal, then your fate will be far worse than being targeted by two coats."

"Of course! Of course!!"

As Salo's emotions became fervent, Link turned to Mel and said:

"Ms. Mel, please step outside; what comes next may be somewhat brutal!"

Mel glanced at Salo before nodding and turning to leave.

Link lifted Salo with both hands, holding the potion, and brought him to the window. He laid him on the bed before turning to retrieve the exoskeleton.

Once Link returned with the exoskeleton, he locked it onto Salo's back.

As Link activated it, the exoskeleton automatically expanded and fitted itself along Salo's body contours.

Listening to the grinding sound of gears turning and feeling the spine support device pressing against his spine brought a chilling sensation that made him shiver involuntarily.

Link took out a syringe filled with micro-light potion and injected it into the spine support device. The deep-sea-like potion flowed into the miniature pump within it.

After setting aside the syringe, Link pressed a button on a mini wind-up electric engine located at his waist.

"This will hurt a bit!"

After warning him lightly, Link stepped back two paces as Salo anxiously awaited the effects of this strange device.

Once activated, the mini electric engine locked into place on the spine support device like vampire fangs sinking into Salo's flesh while long hollow needles sprang forth.

The next moment, the hollow needles pierced deeply into Salo's body until they reached his spine. He let out a painful scream.

"Ah—"

"Endure it," Link said calmly.

Hearing this command from Link, Salo gritted his teeth tightly.

The pump began working, injecting the potion directly into Salo's spine through the hollow needles. The moment the potion reached his spine, he felt breathless. Gripping tightly with both hands due to the pain, his body rapidly heated up. His pale skin turned fiery red, like a boiled shrimp.

Simultaneously, under the potion's influence, new nerve networks began growing along his spine. The skin around his spine bulged and sank erratically. His eyes filled with blood vessels as he gritted his teeth tightly; all he could produce were muffled cries akin to a beast weeping in agony.

The newly formed nerve networks bypassed the damaged areas and intertwined with the nerves from his paralyzed lower limbs.

At that moment of intense agony, Salo felt his legs again through excruciating pain. When he sensed abnormal twitching in his toes, he instinctively tightened his calf muscles due to the discomfort.

Seeing Salo's calf muscles tense up, Link said:

"You can stand now."

Tormented by pain and confusion, Salo followed Link's guidance. Slowly but surely, he pushed himself upright until he stood on top of the guest room bed.

Feeling the soft bedding beneath his feet and experiencing the joy of being able to stand again, Salo closed his eyes toward heaven as tears streamed down from the corners of his eyes.

"Remember your promise, Salo," Link spoke. "From now on, your flesh and blood, your soul—everything belongs to me!"

Salo opened his eyes, filled with excitement, and stammered:

"Of course, Sir! Of course!"

"Oh my god! The scene I've dreamed of countless times has finally come true at this moment!"

"Sir! I will offer my loyalty—my flesh and blood—my soul until eternity!"

Salo knelt on one knee on the bed while Link calmly replied:

"You only need to obey my commands."

"Mel!" Link called out toward Mel outside.

When she pushed open the door and entered, she said:

"Divine envoy."

"I hope you and Salo can unite quickly to take control of the council within a short time. Is that something you can do?"

Mel appeared hesitant but, after pondering for a moment, replied:

"It should be doable!"

"Good! This task is entrusted to you both. I expect you will fully control the council within one week."

At midnight, on top of the council building.

Link stood at the edge of the rooftop, looking down at all of Piltover below.

With Mel and Salo by his side, controlling the council was merely a matter of time.

Once he controlled the council, he could stabilize Piltover's situation.

With Piltover stabilized, he could shift focus elsewhere.

"The ten-day appointment with Jinx is approaching quickly; before heading there, I must find a way to deal with those wild runes beneath Hextech's portal."
