Chapter 46: Clothes Make the Person

"Hmm hmm hmm hmm~" Justin hummed a cheerful tune as he walked home. Getting to know the heroes before they became legends was quite an interesting thing. Trading two weapons for the friendship of the future "Plague Master," whether real or not, was a worthy deal. Should he stop by the black market on the way? Justin hesitated, but decided against it. Jinx was at home, and who knows what she was up to. Though spending all day together was annoying, he couldn't relax when they were apart.

"Hmm hmm hmm hmm~" Jinx was also in high spirits. In front of her was a mirror, reflecting a girl in a white school uniform, a mini-skirt, with twin ponytails, her face beaming with a smile, filled with youthful exuberance. "Do you like this kind of clothing?" Vi walked over, wearing just a short T-shirt she'd grabbed from a rack. Her clothes from yesterday had been torn. There was no helping it; they had come off in a bit of a hurry last night.

"Justin likes it~"

"Isn't it a bit too small?" Although Jinx was just over five feet tall, she was wearing a middle school uniform that was clearly a size too small, unable to cover her belly.

"Because it looks alluring like this." The girl straightened her back, her hands sliding down her waist, as slender as early spring willow branches.

"That pervert Justin..." Vi gritted her teeth and clenched her fists. "Caitlyn! Get Powder some modest clothes!"

That's right, they were in the clothing store next door. After Justin left this morning, Jinx dragged them here for a shopping spree. She had always worn the same thing, but for some reason, she suddenly wanted to dress up. Guess she's at the age where one starts to care about appearance.

"Speaking of, Powder, how old are you again?" The four seasons in the undercity were indistinct, always under a somber sky. With no significant holidays to celebrate, no one cared to remember time accurately. Forget Jinx's age; even Vi wasn't sure about her own.

"I don't know!" For some reason, Jinx seemed a bit upset.

"Anyway, we should wear something sensible." Vi casually picked up a trench coat. "How about this? It's nice and warm."

"No way! Your taste in clothes is awful." Jinx pouted, like a teenager in rebellion. They were on the second floor of the clothing shop now. There were many unopened boxes of clothes, preserved perfectly over the years. Whether cops, criminals, normal people, or those out of their minds, young girls of this age couldn't resist this treasure trove.

"How about trying a sporty look?" Caitlyn, who had a good eye for fashion, picked out two matching baseball outfits for Vi and Jinx. Though the clothes were similar, the effect was entirely different. The baseball jacket clung to Vi's body, pressing against her chest, her strong arms, firm legs, and toned abs all visible. The baseball cap complemented her pink short hair, enhancing her coolness.

Caitlyn couldn't help but swallow hard. "This is what I'll wear tonight..." As for Jinx, she looked utterly adorable in it. Her body proportions were perfect, and despite not being tall or having a substantial chest, she had long legs and a slim waist. The outfit highlighted all her best features, yet the young girl didn't seem pleased. From under the brim of her cap, her deep blue eyes revealed a hint of dissatisfaction. "Hmph! Are you really my sister?" the girl began to doubt. "Of course, I am..." Caitlyn chimed in to ease the tension, "You're still young. If you want to grow faster, you can drink more milk and such."

"It's okay, Justin will like it," Isaac chimed in unexpectedly. She was wearing a fur coat, a deep purple hue, with a purple long dress underneath, its hem sweeping the floor, though the neckline plunged deeply. "How do you have something like that?" Jinx pounced, curious. "It's a top-secret family technique, passed down only to men, not women," Isaac tapped Jinx on the head, comforting her, "You don't need it." "Are you really a man?" Caitlyn stared in disbelief. Isaac now appeared just like an elegant lady, which was not due to physique, but rather his aura. Wearing the outfit, he looked exceedingly alluring, making Caitlyn, a woman herself, feel rather inferior in comparison. "Yes, so please don't fall in love with me," Isaac joked, throwing her a flirtatious wink, which earned a hostile glance from Vi.

Where there are three women, there's drama, and with three and a half, it's even more lively. They tried on all sorts of outfits, especially Jinx. From punk to minimalist, academia to dresses, sportswear to Lolita; from school uniforms, suits, kimonos to nurse outfits, maid costumes, and sailor suits. "Don't make Powder wear such weird clothes!" Vi was on the verge of losing it. "Why does a clothing store have such indecent stuff?" "I think it's fine," Jinx admired herself in the mirror, smiling happily, her thoughts a mystery.

"Girls dress to please the men they love, and it's that guy's unique taste," Isaac spread his hands helplessly with a shake of his head. Women dressing for men… Caitlyn didn't quite agree. Having grown up in a noble family, her aesthetic was far more sophisticated than these common folk. Her selections were always elegant and understated. However, these clothes were styles from decades ago, more suited for someone her mother's age. Putting on a brown dress and a hat, Caitlyn caught a glimpse of her mother's younger self in the mirror, momentarily lost in thought.

She must be so worried about me... Caitlyn suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Here she was, neither fulfilling her duties as an Enforcer nor as a daughter. Should she go back? But… Caitlyn turned to Vi, and Vi seemed to sense it too, giving her a bright, reassuring smile.
