Chapter 1777 First of Many (2)
Captain Atkins explained how the Void Gate worked and their duty as guards. One squad would monitor the Void Gate closely, and of course, there would be a shift. Alternatively, they would monitor the Void Gate 24/7.
There was no pattern or cycle when the Void Creatures would attack. Once they started the attack, the Void Gate would throw up waves of Void Creatures, tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands each wave. That was why they monitored the gate closely to detect any movement from the Void Gate lest they were caught off guard.
Usually, each battle took weeks or even months for a few waves. Of course, there would be rotation for the elite guards. If they were grounded in this place for hundreds of years. They would go crazy even if the Void Creatures did not kill them and lately, the Void Gate became more active than usual.
The Hurakan Legion was bleeding, losing many of its elites. They lost more people than they could train to guard the Void Gate. That was why they requested a draft call from the administrator. If the help from the administrator was not enough, the Hurakan Kingdom would send the draft call to the top alliances and factions in the God Realm.
Through Chaos Eyes, Tang Shaoyang looked into the Void Gate and found the smaller post for the watcher post. He saw a squad of ten people consisting of one captain and nine elite guards. They were on duty to watch the Void Gate, and the watcher was just three hundred meters away from the Void Gate.
He focused his eyes on the Void Gate and found it was not that different from the teleportation gate. It was the same with different destinations. Deep inside, Tang Shaoyang was curious about what was inside the Void Gate. Whether it would be the same as the thing he saw behind the torn space in Aqura or it would be different. Of course, this time, his rationality beat his curiosity.
Nevertheless, he focused on the Void Gate. He thought it was the same until he found something different. The void energy that maintained the Void Gate suddenly took a shake. He could see the energy, it changed from a gentle wave into a violent wave.
Tang Shaoyang did not have that much information about the gate. It seemed like the guard also did not know much. The cue whether the Void Creatures were attacking or not was the Void Creature itself. The attack usually started from a few Void Creatures which later turned into a horde of Void Creatures in ten to twenty minutes.
"We defeated the last wave a week ago. It usually took at least two weeks to two months before the next attack. So yeah, you have at least one week to adjust to your new house." A man in a captain's uniform approached Tang Shaoyang from behind. He was not Captain Atkins, but he was a Captain for sure.
Tang Shaoyang turned toward the voice, "Then is it normal for the gate to be unstable like that? It shakes." In his eyes, it looked unstable compared to the first time he saw it.
Rainer looked toward the gate, but he did not see what Tang Shaoyang saw. In his eyes, the gate was normal as usual. It was not like he could see anything aside from torn space.
"I am Rainer…" He was about to introduce himself, but Tang Shaoyang's words got into him, "Let me confirm with the squad on duty."
Rainer sent a message to the squad on duty to watch the Void Gate. He received no response and continued, "I am Rainer, a captain of a ten-man squad."
If Atkins was reserved around Tang Shaoyang and his people, Rainer was curious. He wanted to know more about administrators and the administrator space. The same with Atkins, Rainer held a high respect for administrators. He liked their aloof disposition because they had the power to back it up, not just some random idiot who flaunted their family name.
"Tang Shaoyang, a newly appointed Senior Administrator." Tang Shaoyang did not hide from the fact he was a new administrator.
Rainer nodded, his eyes glued to the Void Gate. Tang Shaoyang's words got into his head as he also observed the torn space as he continued the conversation. "I heard an Executive Administrator will come in this draft. Is he in another post zero?"
"No, he died, at least from what I heard he died. I am here to replace him with the other two teams. I don't know where the other two teams are." Tang Shaoyang was honest with his answer. There was no reason to hide it from the guards.
Rainer was shocked by the news, blinking his eyes a few times while staring at Tang Shaoyang's right side face. He was in disbelief that an Executive Administrator died.
"I don't know how he died because I just heard it from my fellow administrator. There are indeed some changes in the administrator spaces, but I don't know for sure what happened."
"Is it normal for dozens of Void Creatures to come out from the gate? Atkins told me that the Void Creatures only come out in hordes."
Reinar was about to ask something when he heard Tang Shaoyang's words. He turned toward the Void Gate once more and saw dozens of Void Creatures as Tang Shaoyang said. Not long after, he received a reply from the squad on duty. Before he opened the message, another message popped out. The second message was from Commander Edson.
In his mind, he already knew what happened, but he still opened the second message from Commander Edson. The message was straightforward and clear, a simple one-liner.
[The damned monsters are here!]
Reinar had known Commander Edson for more than a hundred years and knew what it meant. The message was telling him and the others to get ready for the attack from the Void Gate.
He then looked up at Tang Shaoyang, "I think you are onto something with your eyes, Tang. I will report to the boss later, and unfortunately, you don't have one week to get used to your new home. The wave is here!"
