Chapter 1778 First of Many (3)
Chapter 1778 First of Many (3)
Even though Captain Reinar said it was unfortunate, it was not that bad in his eyes. In fact, this was for the better if they could fight right away. There was a lot they needed to try.
First, his team needed some time to adjust to the Spirit Fusion. Fighting the Void Creature right away would help them with the adjustment. Second, They needed to find out whether the team killed counted into the mission to progress. It was still unclear if Ira killed the Void Creature, and would count to the mission or not. They still needed to find out about that, and he needed his team to kill one to try it out.
Not long after, the people from the quarters burst out in line. The first one to come up was Commander Edson, who was followed by his elite guards. They had changed into their battle armor and carried their weapons on their waist or their backs. He noticed a few of them had a bow on their back as well.
The elite guards moved on their own along with their squad. A captain and nine elite guards per squad, spreading out to the other side of the wall. Captain Reinar met with his squad and let them go somewhere else. The last one to come out was Captain Atkins and his squad.
"I will lead the administrators for now." Commander Edson motioned toward Atkins to leave Tang Shaoyang and his team behind. He was worried that Atkins could not handle the administrators. Even though he had a good impression of Tang Shaoyang so far, he still did not fully trust The Reds.
"You are quite lucky, heh? You will immediately fight the Void Creature!"
Tang Shaoyang's locked at the creatures that came out from the Void Gate. It was dozens at first, but the gate was pouring the creature out like a waterfall now. He spotted the squad in the watcher post, running toward them.
"Yes. This is my lucky day." He nodded in response. When he heard the Void Creatures come in a wave periodically, he was quite disappointed. In his mind, he was expecting a territory infested with Void Creatures. The Void Gate would spew out any void creature at any time. That meant he would not be fighting until they started the attack and luck was on his side as the void creature attacked right after he arrived at the post zero.
It was hard to determine whether it was intentional or coincidence, not that he was concerned about it. Killing the void creature was the reason he was here.
Commander Edson was not anticipating such a reaction. In fact, the young administrator looked eager to fight the void creature which many tried to avoid. He shrugged, "You will be fighting under my command since you haven't been informed how we usually fight."
"Our main target is the strong void creature. We must target the strongest void creature and not chase the void creatures that break through our defense. As I said, as the first defense line, our duty is to get rid of the strongest void creature."
Tang Shaoyang furrowed his brow. It took him some time to understand why they used such a strategy. It was impossible for ten squads to wipe out the tens of thousands of void creature hordes. That was why they prioritized eliminating the strongest void creature to ease up the second defense and so on.
The void creature horde swarm was still far from the first wall. It seemed like the void creatures were disoriented for a while as they stayed close to the Void Gate. They gathered there, roaming around close to the gate. As if they were waiting for further instruction.
Edson was about to continue until he noticed a movement from behind. What shocked him was that he sensed something similar to the void creature. He turned around and found a dying void creature right next to Tang Shaoyang's feet. Blinking his eyes a few times, ensuring that he did not see it wrong.
The void creature resembled an orc but with deformed body parts. It had three hands, one hand was longer than the others. Six tusks protruded out of its mouth, varied in length, one slightly out from its lips and another even reached its nose. Another disturbing part was its eyes. It had four eyes, different sizes and colors. One eye was only white, one white similar to a human's eyes but it was too big, bulging even as it would come off at any moment, and the other two eyes were in different spots. One was near the left side of its lip, and the fourth was close to the right ear.
The void creature was a being formed from the condensed void mana that tried to imitate monsters, beasts, and other living beings. Clearly, the dying void creature was similar to the orc, but it was far from the real.
Edson was confused, and could not proceed with the situation. How the void creature was here already, even though it was just one void creature it was still confusing to him. He guessed Tang Shaoyang was the person behind this thing, but he could not figure out how the young administrator brought one void creature to the wall.
"Kill this one, Ira. We need to try if your kill counts as a mission kill."
Before Edson could say anything, Tang Shaoyang ordered Ira to kill the thing. She immediately sprung into action, not just because of the order but out of her disgust for the creature. The real orc was more lovely than the creature in front of her. Taking out her spear, she pierced the void creature's head.
A screen popped out at the corner of his eyes after Ira killed the orc-like creature. He focused on the screen, it was a number.
1/10000 kills
Tang Shaoyang was relieved that the kill counted to their mission. Ten thousand void creatures were for the first level reward, promotions for one admin helper to Junior Administrator. Even though he guessed the kill would count toward the mission, he was relieved to confirm it.
