Chapter 22: Chapter 22 : Rock Hard Monster
Chapter 22 : Rock Hard Monster
Nash was hit squarely by the blast from the homing pumpkins and with the Assassin briefly out of action, the giant flame pumpkin turned its attention to the healer, Eileen.
Eileen jittered, barely holding her balance in fear that she was next. Naturally, she would be afraid since combat was not her strong suit.
She bit her lips in fear, praying for a helper in her heart as she continued to take steps backwards, extending the distance between her and the fire monster.
Out of nowhere, the cloud from the blast stretched forward, reaching the pumpkin and from there, Nash emerged and successfully landed a strike to the head of the pumpkin before getting away quickly.
Nash was smeared in smoke and cough. Soon, he was shrouded in golden light and an empty vial was seen in his hand.
+100 HP restored!
He had taken one of the low level potions in his possession to save himself.
Otherwise, it would have been game over.
'If I had not prepared the potion in time, I would have been killed.'
Seeing Nash dashed out of the cloud of smoke, Eileen's eyes widened and her heart became hopeful again.
She calmed down, having confidence in Nash to deal with the fire monster.
Nash wasted no time and sprang back into action now that he had an opening to exploit.
Using its homing skill and ring of fire, the giant flame pumpkin hoped to end the player quickly.
However, now that its plan failed, it had to wait out the cooldown period, leaving Nash with the room to attack as much as he wanted.
Nash and Null had the giant pumpkin where they wanted it, and with them having the superior speed advantage, they continued to slash and stab the monster until its HP dropped to zero.
[Critical Hit!]
[Critical Hit effect! Double damage!]
…
[Double damage!]
The prompts of critical hit effect spread over the giant pumpkin as Nash and Null continued to target its head.
The giant pumpkin continued to shrink fast until it disappeared into nothing else, leaving behind a handful of coins.
"You killed the monster!" Eileen purred happily with bubbly eyes.
Nash chuckled and scratched the back of his head, pretending to be ignorant how big his achievement was to her.
"It's thanks to the fact that I managed to land a critical hit," he said, speaking half of the truth.
The large amount of damage he had dealt on the giant flame pumpkin was as a result of the combined attack power of him and Null as well as the double damage effect of a critical hit.
Nash did not bother with speaking with her anymore as he approached the drops.
Having used [Plunder], Nash was only able to squeeze out some copper coins and a fire ability enhancement wheel.
He sighed and shook his head, disappointed that this was all he could gain from the giant pumpkin monster.
Nash hoped for something higher with a fire ability, maybe a skill or a weapon that would amp his killing threat, only to get the thing he had.
Nonetheless, Nash took the items and stored them in his inventory.
Approaching Eileen, they talked briefly and decided to rest for a while so they can restore their HP and MP to its full bar before they proceeded to the next stage of the dungeon where it all ends.
The dungeon boss room.
******
After recovering the complete HP and MP, Nash and Eileen proceeded to enter the boss room.
Entering, they looked around and discovered that there were no monsters in here unlike the previous room.
All they saw were stones, large stones that stood in many positions.
"What's this place?" Eileen muttered, her eyes scouting her surroundings as they proceeded forward.
The two of them continued on in the hallway of rocks, climbing the long steps in front of them to enter the actual boss room.
The room was larger than the other ones and in the distance, a giant stone creature sat in what appeared to be a throne carved from stone.
Its body was made of both stone and fire. A giant with rock hard defense and an intimidating height that was almost two metres.
Eileen swallowed instinctively. Nash, on the other hand, was calculating how he would defeat the boss of the [Fiery Marsh].
Unlike the fireflies and the flame pumpkins, the rock giant had a high defensive ability, and clearly, it was stronger than all of them.
"H-How… how are we going to defeat that?" Eileen asked with profound concern, doubtful that they would succeed this time around.
*Bam*
The rock giant stood from its throne and put a foot forward, making the ground tremble so much it felt like an earthquake.
Nash and Eileen managed to maintain their balance, with Nash keeping an eye on the monster.
With that heavy stomp, even the flames that surrounded them seemed to increase, burning with even more heat.
The more the fire burned, the weaker their fire resistance got.
At this point, the heat of the flame in the boss room was starting to sap their HP, making them lose 1 HP every one second.
The 1 HP per second loss was not high but the longer they stayed here, the more threatening it became. If they did not find a way to defeat the rock monster quickly, they will be burnt to death with time.
The rock monster boss roared and charged forward, shocking both Nash and Eileen.
Despite its huge size and structure, it was not lacking in speed since its legs covered a worrying distance in one step.
Yet, Nash did not give up because of this.
He made his own charge towards the rock monster, not relenting despite the terrifying size of the creature.
*Stomp*
The rock monster struck the ground with a heavy stomp and it quaked again, but that was not it alone.
The ground broke apart in some areas, releasing a wave of flaming rocks that hit Nash mercilessly sending him flying backwards.
Nash grimaced as he was punished by the attack, watching helplessly as his HP tried to reach zero faster than he could imagine.
