Chapter 21: Chapter 21 : Flame Pumpkin
Chapter 21 : Flame Pumpkin
"Tch!" Nash gritted his teeth after taking damage from the flame needles that struck him.
The damage from the fireflies' attacks would have been significantly more if not for the fire resistance attribute of his Flame Armour.
Nash turned his face halfway to check on Eileen to see if she was alright, and she was.
Eileen immediately composed herself and acted. "Don't worry, I will heal you!" she blurted out, making Nash smile. After all, that was the major reason he wanted her by his side—because of her healing ability.
"Heal!" Eileen cast a magic spell with her arms stretched towards Nash as tiny golden particles of light floated around the Assassin, restoring two third of the total HP he lost to the flame needles.
A small green bar appeared.
*Ding*
+12 HP restored!
"Thank you," Nash looked at her with a smirk.
Eileen's face turned red. "It-It's nothing!"
Facing his front now to attack the major obstacles that were in front of them, Nash tightened his grip on his bone dagger.
He knew he did not need to charge towards the fireflies, rather the flies would come to him even when they clearly had the advantage of flight and a long range attack.
In a couple of seconds, and just as he rightly expected, the flies flew towards him.
Nash quickly took down two of them with Null's help using [Stun Strike].
Together, they landed an attack that ended the two fireflies in a jiffy.
With just two left, the strength of effect and number of the flame needles reduced significantly.
Nash could easily dodge them now, only needing to take damage to protect Eileen who eventually healed him.
After a while, Nash succeeded in killing the rest of the fireflies and picked up whatever drops they had to offer.
Nash and Eileen continued into the dungeon until they came into what looked like a small room.
This room was filled with creatures made of fire that they had not seen before.
The creatures looked like Halloween pumpkins with the eyes and the sharp, razor teeth, only that they were made entirely of fire.
Among them was a bigger one that looked like the leader.
[Big Flame Pumpkin]
[Level: 2]
Nash couldn't see beyond the name of the monster and its level, but he knew for sure that the Giant Pumpkin was stronger than the smaller ones, and even probably, the one producing the smaller pumpkins.
Killing it meant that there was a chance that he would get an item, and he hoped that if he did, it would be at least a rare grade item.
Nash rushed forward in the direction of the gure pumpkins, but he was hesitant to attack and that was for a reason.
He wanted to deal with the smaller pumpkins first before the bigger one.
If he recalled well, then the Giant Flame Pumpkin did not have its agility as one of its best stats.
Detecting Nash's hostility, the pumpkin growled loudly.
Nash smirked because dealing with the pumpkins would be easier than the fireflies since he didn't need to worry about them.
Nash went ahead to deal with a few of the flame pumpkins.
Seeing that the Giant Flame Pumpkin was not eager to intercept him, Nash hurried destroyed the smaller ones before turning all his attention to the giant pumpkin.
******
*Swoosh!*
Sparks of fire crackled through the air as Nash noticed a fireball coming towards him. This was one of the giant flame pumpkin's attack.
Nash quickly moved, shifting to the side and dodging the fireball.
The player responded fast but dashing forward and attacking together with his shadow.
Null extended from his body as soon as Nash got into an arm's length of range, landing consecutive attacks with [Stun Strike] and [Thrust].
Nash, on the other hand, blended his attack with those of his shadow to avoid being made by Eileen.
The stun effect of [Stun Strike] was able to buy them seconds of time, at best a few minutes, to continuously attack the giant pumpkin.
*Grrrooo*
The fire creature growled, recovering control of itself as the stun effect wore off, surprising Nash.
'Tch! It shook off the stun this quickly,' Nash thought as he moved closer, preparing to land yet another attack in unison with Null.
The giant fire pumpkin, however, was not going to let them continuously strike it as much as they liked.
*Swoosh*
A ring of fire surrounded it and expanded out of its body, stretching to strike Nash right in the abdomen.
The ring of fire was enough to throw Nash back.
Nash took some degree of damage from the ring of fire but before he could recover, the giant pumpkin already released a series of four smaller pumpkin-shaped creatures.
This time around, this particular fire creature was small, about the size of a human hand. However, they had a special ability that made them dangerous.
[Homing Pumpkin]
[Level: 2]
As Nash was still gathering himself, he noticed that two of the homing pumpkins were already close to him.
Luckily, he didn't need to worry about Eileen since he succeeded in pushing her away from the monster's attention.
Nash immediately smashed one of the homing pumpkins the moment it got into his range.
The pumpkin split in two but before Nash could get the second one, it had already transformed from a pumpkin to a sudden flash of light that seemed to want to burst.
'A bomb?' Nash thought as he needed to get away from the point blank range he found himself in.
*Boom*
An explosion rocked the room and immediately after the first, the rest of the homing pumpkins were sent in Nash's standing pointing and more explosions followed.
The giant flame pumpkin was brutal and wanted to end the fight as fast as possible.
*Boom* *Boom* *Boom*
"Neon!" Eileen called out to him, tears almost dropping from her eyes as she saw the cloud of smoke created by the blast but couldn't detect Nash's presence.
With Nash out of its way, the giant pumpkin rotated its body to face the direction where Eileen was.
She was the next target.
