Attack On Titan: Goodbyes

Chapter 45: Twins

"Ereh!! Babe!! I... I don't feel so good... I... Belgh!!!"

"Eh?"

"Ereh!! Here it's really tight..."

"Eh?"

"Babe!! I... I... I don't think I can do this!!"

"Eh?"

"Ereh!! It's your fault I'm going through all this.... You just had to tie me up with ropes... And shove your titan in me..."

"Eh?"

"Sugar muffin.... I'm.... I.... Give me that..."

Crack.

"EH?!!"

"Ereh!!"

"Eh?"

"WAHHHHHHH!!!"

"WAHHHHHHH!!!"

"Ereh!! Let me hold them!!"

"Eh?"

"Ereh!! They're perfect!!"

"Eh?"

"Ereh!! I told you, didn't I... It's gonna be two boys..."

"Eh?"

Mikasa held her two newborns in her arms, sitting on Eren's lap. She kissed his cheeks softly before resting her head against his chest.

"Ereh!! I'm sooo happy!!"

Eren's eyes remained blank, a slight furrow in his brow, one hand pressing gently against her sweaty back. His other hand held Erika, who cried loudly in his arms, her wails harmonizing with the newborns.

"Eh?"

Before he realized it, tears started to slip down his face. Mikasa smiled, her chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath. "Oh Ereh!" she whispered, her voice trembling.

She clenched her teeth and cried too, thinking he was emotional because he was happy. But Eren wasn't sure if he could handle two more tiny devils.

....

Night light spilled in their room as Eren's thoughts wavered, slipping back into the reality of the moment. Yet, despite the chaos of the birth around him, he couldn't tear his eyes away from the two newborns still crying, their tiny forms trembling in the soft light.

His heart ached as he took them all in, as his breath came out in shallow gasps, watery mirth forming in his eyes—the sight of the two kids, and then Mikasa and then Erika crying in his arms. He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss into her Mikasa's hair.

"They're beautiful...." Eren muttered and she nodded clearing her tears before placing a kiss at Eren's mouth. She pulled away before both smiled at each other eyes shifting at the newborns.

The twins' eyes fluttered open, revealing emerald green orbs, just like his own. Their gaze was pure, innocent—utterly otherworldly, as if they were little angels sent down just for him.

His breath caught in his chest, a bittersweet smile tugging at his lips. "Here... Take them..." Mikasa whispered, her voice fragile as she kissed his cheek, her own tears slipping down her face.

Eren's tears followed, falling softly onto Erika's tiny head, his hands trembling as he gazed at his children. "I might drop them..." he muttered, his voice a mix of fear and awe. But Mikasa simply smiled, her eyes filled with warmth and confidence.

"Honey... It's fine... You won't," she reassured him, her voice steady, and somehow it anchored him. Eren nodded, placing Erika gently into Mikasa's lap before his trembling hands reached for the twins.

He clutched them carefully, holding them close, as they stared at him with the kind of innocence that made his heart feel like it might burst.

The weight of his emotions grew heavier as he gazed at them all—Mikasa, Erika, the twins. His heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude, yet there was a raw vulnerability in his words.

"I... I don't know how I can ever thank you," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I'm... I'm grateful. For all this... For all this happiness... I... I'm in your debt. Mikasa."

She reached out, her hand trembling slightly as it brushed against his ear, her fingers gently grazing the soft curve of his earlobe. A tender smile graced her lips as she spoke, her voice soft but filled with conviction. "It's nothing compared to what you've done for me," she whispered.

"Countless worlds, countless sacrifices, countless deaths... just so that I could live a long, peaceful life." Her eyes met his, the warmth of her gaze filling the space between them. "But my Ereh... I bet those versions of me are dead jealous of me. Because even if I only get four years to live with you... It's worth it. All of it."

His heart twisted at her words, a pang of guilt mixed with the immense love he felt for her. Without saying a word, he silenced her with gentle kisses, his lips pressing against her forehead, her cheek, anywhere he could reach.

He held her close, his arms wrapping around her in a desperate, tender embrace. She melted into him, and for a moment, the world outside ceased to exist. All that mattered was the warmth of their shared love, their intertwined fates.

"Kay then, shall we name these two cuties?" Mikasa asked softly, her voice filled with a warmth that only deepened the tenderness of the moment.

Eren nodded, gently cradling Erika in his arms while Mikasa held the twins in her hands, their tiny forms so fragile and perfect. She smiled, the weight of their new reality settling in, as she glanced at him with a quiet excitement.

"I was thinking Mik—" she began, before she was cut off by a soft chuckle from Eren.

"Ereh! They're not girls... Plus is Mikasa the only girl's name you could ever remember? My dear husband." she laughed, a playful glint in her eyes as she shook her head.

He huffed, remembering the last time he'd done this. In one swift motion, he leaned in and bit the edge of her ear, the familiar action causing her breath to catch. It was her vulnerable spot, one he knew all too well.

"Uh… Ereh… Don't…" Mikasa's voice wavered, her breath hitching as he moved lower, his teeth grazing the arch of her neck. A sharp gasp escaped her lips when he bit down, sending a shiver through her body.

"Babe… The… Names…" she tried again, her words broken by the sensation of his tongue sliding up her skin, tracing the curve of her shoulder.

"You're so damn beautiful," he murmured against her, his voice husky, reverent.

Her grip on the twins tightened slightly, a flush creeping up her neck. "You… You did this last time too…" she whispered, half scolding, half breathless. "I… Ereh…" But her words faded, swallowed by the warmth of his teasing touch.

"Then you must've already thought of some names, huh?" Eren murmured between kisses, his lips brushing against her pulse before his teeth sank lightly into her skin again, leaving faint, possessive marks.

"I… I thought you would've…" she admitted, but her voice barely held firm as he continued, lost in her.

Then something deep within him stirred. A memory—one buried beneath the weight of thousands of lifetimes. He saw glimpses of another world, a distant, fractured timeline where he and Mikasa had children. In that life, he hadn't abandoned fighting, but he hadn't abandoned her either. Because he had loved her. Always.

The bittersweet ache of it coursed through him, still vivid, still real. His lips stilled against her skin. His hands, once teasing, now held her with quiet reverence.

Mikasa tilted her head, sensing the shift in him. "Rin… Sae…" he murmured, his voice soft, as he remembered the names.

She lifted his gaze, meeting his. A small smile curved her lips as she tickled the newborns gently. "Then this one is Rin… and this one is Sae."

Eren nodded, the names settling into his heart like something that had always been meant to be. Without hesitation, he took both boys into his arms, holding them close. Mikasa leaned her head against his chest, cradling Erika, who had already slipped into a peaceful sleep.

He exhaled slowly, looking down at the tiny lives in his arms. "Welcome to the family, Rin... Sae."
