Chapter 90: An Insurmountable Difference

Lucidador stared unblinkingly.

Ultimately, however, his eyes closed as he heaved a disappointed huff. "I'd like that, but it appears you've already decided on your next course of action. A decision that I find to be an incredibly foolish one."

Knox smirked. "I guess we'll just have to see how true that is!"

*Fwoooop—!*

Without wasting any more breath on meaningless words, he zipped forward at hundreds of times the speed of light. His right-handed Intent Sword reached Lucidador in the blink of an eye.

"Pointless."

Lucidador's icy-cold eyes darted toward Knox's exact position, which was then followed by a slight finger raise. A large manifestation of blade intent appeared, effectively blocking the incoming Intent Sword attack.

"Tsk." Knox clicked his tongue as he backed off.

"Do you have any idea what it means to attain the Echo of the Blade?" Lucidador asked in a calm manner, seemingly not the least bit threatened by his opponent. "It's the act of nearing a complete state with the art of the Blade. It's something that a baby like you will require dozens more years to even begin to understand for the Sword. That is to say that you should… give up. You won't break through my defenses."

"Ha! Nothing that exists can't be broken!"

Another tired sigh echoed. "Your resistance is futile. Why can't you understand that?"

"Stop talking with your mouth! Let's converse with our weapons!"

"…How pointless…"

Princess Maya, Nala, and the others watched from the sidelines. They saw two flashes of light zooming all over the battlefield, clearing out the clouds and destroying anything in sight. Furthermore, the speed at which they moved only became progressively faster. It was to the point that even the strongest among the spectators felt their vision lagging behind.

"Darling is so cool~"

"You dare get distracted while fighting me, you b*tch!? Are you aiming for a painful, torturous death? Because I'll give it to you after I'm done playing with your body!!"

Cela's giddy expression suddenly frosted over. She fixed a lethal glare on the raging young master, her killing intent boiling over. "Only my Darling is allowed to touch me. You declaring that you'll do the same is the equivalent of offending my Darling, which is the same as offending me. And for it, I'll string your innards on the front of your castle."

"Yeah!? I'd like to see you try—"

SWOOOOSH!

"!!!"

"You and that damn Physique!" Lenon shouted as he activated several layers of protective barriers. His Sword Body also displayed more of its might, causing a holy, golden sword phenomenon to form above him. "I'll slash right through it!!"

His declaration was followed up by the massive golden sword phenomenon slashing downward. It cleaved through the Elements and Minor Laws infused into the atmosphere, leaving the area in severe disarray. A glitchy effect shifted the causality of many things, yet it only furthered the approach of a giant sphere of darkness.

"Total Oblivion's Obliteration," Cela announced in a tone bereft of emotion as she clenched her hand, causing the giant sphere of darkness to rapidly expand and rupture. "As my Darling likes to say: parry this, you filthy casual."

"!!!!"

KA—BOOOOOOOM!!

In a discreet corner of the battlefield, a violet-eyed girl carefully observed both of the ongoing fights. She briefly focused on Cela's battle, her eyes glazing over ever so slightly.

"She's become stronger again…" Yennefer then returned her attention to the two extremely powerful figures creating tears in space everywhere they clashed. "Knox… his strength is…"

Just a few years ago, he was only a bit stronger than your average Body Refinement Realm cultivator. A mere gnat in her eyes.

Yet now, his back seemed to stretch out further than she could reach—his rate of power progression moving on an entirely different scale.

"Will it ever be possible for me to catch up to him…?"

The hoarse voice of the Unbiased Prophet rang through time and space, living in the hearts of many: "His fate is a lonely one—a path that neither man nor woman can traverse alongside him."

However, no matter how small the chance may be, Yennefer still hoped that she'd be able to lag behind him, walking in his massive footprints. Though, she had no idea why precisely she even wanted that to begin with.

A rivalry, perhaps?

For the sake of her family's alliance with the Falazars?

For herself…?

None could say for certain.

— Some Time Later —

"Why do you continue to resist?"

Lucidador's raspy voice cut through the silence that enveloped their stalemate. His cold eyes looked down at the otherworldly handsome raven-haired man gasping for breath. Cuts leaked blood all over his body, some far deeper than others.

"I resist because I'm greedy," Knox replied, his mouth filled with the rancid taste of iron. "And until I beat you or die, I won't be giving up."

|2nd Perfection: Restore|

Lucidador impassively watched as his opponent's body restored itself to peak condition. However, he wasn't all that surprised by such an occurrence. After all, Knox was a Tri-Saint Ranked Talent.

Similar talents had been nothing if not full of surprises from the Ancient Blade Demon's past experiences.

"Fine then," Lucidador uttered as he raised his left hand. "I guess I'll just have to show you the insurmountable difference between you and me in order to get you to submit."

WAAA!

Tendrils of dark golden Innate Energy shot out of Lucidador's left hand. They extended to the heavens, wildly swinging around in a frenzy.

Possessing enough power within them to one-shot a Late Soul Formation Realm powerhouse, the tendrils loomed overhead.

Quickly, they took on the form of a thick saber-blade—one that emitted enough arrogance to make even the world itself feel a sense of inferiority.

"This sort of power…" Princess Maya softly murmured, surprise flashing through her eyes. "He wasn't this strong before. What happened to him in this recent period of time??"

"No idea," said Luna. "No idea," said Solaris.

"The Echo of the Blade is not enough to boost his power to this degree. Likely… something else," they both said in sync.
