Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Way Of The Holy Spear
The sound of a pen scratching against paper filled the small study. Lucas leaned back in his chair, his fingers smudged with ink, and set down his pen with a soft sigh.
"Huh? That was quick…" he murmured, glancing at the glowing notification hovering just above his desk.
[Ding! Atmos has unlocked the Zanpakutō, Katen Kyōkotsu, after reading your comic! Host gains the Zanpakutō simultaneously!]
[Ding! Host receives 20,000 mysterious energy points!]
Lucas blinked at the system messages, his brow furrowing in mild disbelief. Atmos, the thirteenth division commander, was the first to resonate with his work. A quick mental note reminded him that Vista, the fifth division commander, also wielded dual blades.
"Still, it seems like it's not about strength… It's about fate," Lucas mused, resting his chin in his hand.
The energy points were significant—20,000 was enough to make him giddy before. Now, though, they felt like a stepping stone, a means to a much greater end. He smirked, feeling the familiar fire of ambition rekindle in his chest.
"This is just the start. Once everyone begins training with their abilities… that's when things will get interesting."
As if responding to his determination, the system chimed again.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! Your comic skill has levelled up!]
"Eh?" Lucas tilted his head, baffled. Then, a peculiar warmth flooded his hands. His fingers twitched, itching for the pen.
Experimentally, he began sketching a character. The strokes flowed effortlessly like water cascading down a stream. In less than ten seconds, the figure was complete.
"Whoa…" Lucas's jaw dropped. "I'm… fast. Really fast."
His mind raced. With this newfound speed, he could churn out more chapters, reach more readers, and earn more energy points. The potential was limitless.
"Right then," he said, cracking his knuckles with a grin. "Time to get to work."
Meanwhile, in a secluded corner of the ship, Atmos stood staring at the sealed blade in his hands. His laughter boomed, startling a few passing crewmates.
"Katen Kyōkotsu! Yo, fellas, check this out!"
The blade wasn't much to look at now, but it was a masterpiece to Atmos. A connection surged between him and the weapon, like two long-lost friends reuniting.
"Vista, how about you?" he asked eagerly, turning to his companion.
Vista frowned, shaking his head. "Nothing. No reaction at all."
Marco, ever the optimist, clapped a hand on Vista's shoulder. "Relax, it's normal. It just means your path lies in another comic. Didn't you see there's a Zanpakutō suited for dual swords? Try that one."
Vista hesitated before picking up the next volume. "If you say so…"
Another commander, Speed Jiru, held a comic titled The Story of Diarmuid Ua Duibhne not far away. As he read, a golden glow enveloped him, illuminating the room. The spear in his hand began to hum, its form shifting into a radiant weapon that shimmered with divine energy.
The commotion drew everyone's attention.
"Speed Jiru, did you unlock something too?" Marco asked, his curiosity piqued.
Speed Jiru's eyes glistened with unspoken emotions. "The way of the holy spear…" he whispered, his voice trembling. Then louder, "Y'all, I've found my purpose!"
His words carried the weight of years of doubt. The path of the knight's spear had always been overshadowed by kendo, haki, and the powers of Devil Fruits. He'd wondered countless times if his dedication was futile.
But not anymore.
"This is it," he declared, his spear gleaming as he held it high. "The way of the holy spear isn't a dead end—it's a challenge. And I'll prove to the world that it stands equal to any blade!"
