Babysitting Whitebeard’s Crew:How I Accidentally Became a Teen Emperor

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: This “Biography of Kisame” Might Be Just Right

Time flew by, and the cliffside hut had grown quieter. Of the division commanders once gathered there, only Vista and Namur remained.

The others had all gained abilities from the comics and left to practice their newfound powers. But for Vista, it had been a frustrating journey.

"This is the twelfth book…" Vista muttered, his bloodshot eyes revealing sleepless nights.

Everyone else had obtained abilities quickly—some after reading just one comic. But no matter how many books he read, the results for Vista were the same: nothing.

To his small comfort, Namur shared his predicament.

"I'm already on my nineteenth book," Namur sighed, slumping against the wall. "You're better off than me."

The two men sat on the floor, defeated. They stared at each other—Vista's weary, determined eyes meeting Namur's equally exhausted ones.

"Maybe this is fate," Namur muttered, staring at the ceiling. "I'll just live out my days as a shark who never gets his moment."

But then, as if struck by a sudden idea, Namur shot upright. "Wait! Why don't we ask Lucas? He draws these comics. Maybe he can help us figure out why we're not getting anything."

Vista considered this for a moment before nodding. "Let's do it. Anything is better than sitting here feeling sorry for ourselves."

The two made their way to the Moby Dick, where Lucas was busy reviewing his system stats in his cabin.

The past few days have been incredibly productive. The division commanders gained abilities one by one, earning Lucas a steady stream of mysterious energy points.

His balance stood at 998,260 points—just shy of the million mark needed for a diamond-tier ten-draw.

"Almost there," Lucas muttered, closing the system interface with a satisfied grin.

Just then, a familiar voice called from outside.

"Hey, Lucas!"

It was Vista.

"Oh?" Lucas raised an eyebrow. A quick check of the system logs confirmed what he suspected: Vista hadn't unlocked any abilities yet. Neither had Namur.

As they entered the room, Lucas greeted the two division commanders with a knowing smile. "Let me guess—you're here about the comics, right?"

Vista nodded, his face reddening slightly. "That's right. Everyone else has unlocked abilities, but Namur and I…" He trailed off, clearly embarrassed.

Namur chimed in. "I've even read more than Vista! Nineteen comics! And still, nothing."

Lucas leaned back, suppressing a chuckle. Two tough cases, indeed.

In truth, unlocking abilities from the comics involved a bit of randomness. Some were lucky enough to hit the jackpot on their first try, while others—well, others were like these two.

He tapped his chin thoughtfully, considering their predicament. Then his eyes fell on a freshly completed comic sitting nearby: Biography of Kisame.

A grin spread across his face.

Kisame… The Shark-Man.

Namur's sharp features, his fins, his very presence—it all screamed shark.

This comic wasn't just a coincidence. It was fate.

"Namur," Lucas said, sliding the comic across the table. "This is one I just finished. It's called Biography of Kisame. I think it might be just right for you."
