Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 276: He's Actually A Crybaby

Kai turned to the scoreboard with a smile since he made it in.

Just in time, the buzzer was heard, signaling the end of the game.

However, the referee blew the whistle and went next to him, signaling a foul.

"Charging foul!" he called out, making Kai scratch the back of his head. He actually wanted to get the last point of the game and seal his record with 32 points.

However, he did just push Qiang, a 250 lbs player, to the ground. So, it wasn't too surprising that he didn't get the last point.

"Bummer," Kai muttered.

However, the people weren't really focused on Kai's point. Instead, they were more focused on the fact that he just threw Qiang to the ground.

"Is that possible?"

"We just concluded earlier that there wasn't a player stronger than Qiang. I think we just found him!"

"What just happened?"

"I think Qiang doesn't believe it, too."

Indeed, Qiang was still on the ground, his legs now folded before him. It appeared like the light left his eyes, and he was questioning his very existence.

Meanwhile, the Shizi Dogs all went to Kai, patting his shoulder.

"What did you just do?" Jet asked.

"What?" Kai asked. "I just shot the ball."

"And pushed Qiang in the process!" Jinping exclaimed. "That was his signature move! Once he does that stomping thing, the other players just pass the ball."

Kai smirked and glanced down at Qiang.

"Well, I just can't let him push me to the ground without returning the favor, right?"

His teammates shook their heads in disbelief, continuing their celebration as they made their way back to the bench.

Meanwhile, the other players on the bleachers felt a collective chill run down their spines.

"It's a good thing we didn't run into them in the first game."

"And to think that I actually wanted to play with them first."

"You were stupid."

"I definitely was."

"Wow," Ailun said, clicking his tongue and crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"The Huishi Alligators are actually out of the entire season," he said.

Fabin shook his head in disbelief. "We've been playing with them for two consecutive years for the semi-finals. It feels surreal that we're going to play with other teams now."

"Let's go," Coach Guanyu said, standing from his seat.

The other players followed suit. Ailun, Fabin, and Max stayed behind.

"Wait, you haven't said anything for a good while now," Fabin said.

"What?" Max asked, turning around to the two of them.

"What do you think about them?" Fabin asked.

They were surprised when a wide smile appeared on Max's face.

"It's fun," he said. "It's very fun."

Ailun and Fabin turned to each other before shaking their heads.

"Our friend has officially lost it," Ailun muttered.

On the other hand, the Xing Stars still couldn't believe what they had watched.

Coach Yixing looked like he had aged 20 years, his undereyes dark and his mouth drooping.

"Are you alright, coach?" Zedong asked.

Coach Yixing shook his head.

"I should have done a better job recruiting him into our team."

Back to the court, Qiang still couldn't believe what had happened.

His teammates were already back on the bench, their disappointment evident in their eyes.

Qiang, with his eyes focused afar, snapped back to reality when he saw two familiar shoes before him.

He lifted his head and looked at Kris, who had a proud smile on his face.

Kris extended his hand. "Come on. Let's go. The others are already packing up."

Qiang pursed his lips as his eyes watered.

The older player shook his head in amusement. "Don't do this, Qiang. We may have been eliminated, but you have a bright future ahead of you."

Qiang couldn't hold his tears back anymore. He also stomped his feet, making him look like a real baby.

Some of his tears escaped, making the onlookers shocked.

Seeing such a huge boy cry on the court was definitely surprising.

The Shizi Dogs turned back and were taken aback.

"Hey, he's actually pretty cute," Jet remarked. "He looks like a baby."

The others shook their heads in amusement.

Yuze clicked his tongue. "Just pack up," he said.

"Qiang, they're looking at you," Kris said, scratching the back of his head with his free hand. "Come on, now. I'll treat you to some food."

Qiang ignored him and continued crying. "It may not be my last game, but it is yours," he said, more tears falling from his eyes. Find more chapters on My Virtual Library Empire

Kris also found himself getting emotional, but he blinked his tears away since he wanted to show the younger boy that he was okay.

"And I don't regret it one bit," Kris said, trying to comfort Qiang. However, he also knew that he'd probably cry himself to sleep.

"Come on, now," he said, finally lifting Qiang up after much difficulty.

"Goodness," he said after he managed to get Qiang to stand up. "How did he even manage to push you away that far?"

Qiang clicked his tongue and glared at Kris as they walked back to the bench.

"Don't remind me anymore."

Kris chuckled and patted his back. Then, he momentarily stopped, making Qiang follow suit.

"But, in all honesty, I am pretty upset about it. However, what can we do? We've lost," he said.

"The only thing we can do is accept it."

Then, he looked at the court. It was most likely his last time having such an intense game since he was planning on taking a pre-med course.

"A real sportsman's value is better seen in his losses rather than his victories."

"That's so cheesy," Qiang said; however, snot was already falling from his nose.

Kris shook his head in amusement. "Come on. Let's just go."

"Are you guys done packing?" Yuze asked the other players.

"Yeah, let's go," Kun said. "I'm so tired."

The others nodded in agreement, ready to go home after such a long game.

They were about to go back to their designated waiting room when someone suddenly called for Kai's name.

They all turned around, their eyes widening when they saw Fei running to where they were.

"Am I seeing things, or is Fei darting toward us?" Jet absent-mindedly asked.

"She is," Jinping muttered.

Fei, the famous manager of the Knights, stood before them.

"What do you need?" Lina asked with a small frown.

Fei ignored her and brought something out of her pocket—a small piece of paper.

Then, she handed the piece of paper to Kai, confusing him.

"I'll be waiting for your text, Kai Guo," Fei said before walking away from the team.
