Chapter 277: Who Is The New Guy?
Kai laid on his bed with a huge smile on his face.
He was in a good mood because they advanced to the next round of the Interhigh Preliminaries, and his grandma prepared him a hearty meal when he returned.
After the game, he had also received quite a lot of numbers from other people—some he couldn't even recall.
It became too overwhelming for him, so he shoved it inside his bag before they left the court.
Now, it was Monday once again, and he was bound to go to school.
He kept replaying the scene where he pushed Qiang to the ground over and over again, causing his smile to widen.
However, his wonderful dream was cut short when he felt a heavy slap on his shoulder.
He jolted awake.
"Qiang?" he muttered, the slap reminiscent of the big guy.
"I will show you real strength if you don't get up right now," Grandma Bingbing exclaimed, making Kai jolt awake.
"What time is it?" he asked, turning to the wall clock.
His eyes widened in surprise when he saw that there were only 15 minutes left before school started.
Kai cursed under his breath and darted to the bathroom to take a quick bath.
Grandma Bingbing shook her head. "This boy, really," she muttered.
Kai did his morning routine at a quick pace before heading out to the kitchen.
Grandma Bingbing was already waiting for him with a sandwich in hand. Kai smiled sheepishly and grabbed the sandwich before dashing out of their house.
"Three minutes," he muttered.
His hair was still wet, some of the droplets falling on his shoulders, but that was the least of his worries.
He was in a good mood, and he didn't want that to be ruined by seeing Sir Dao in the morning.
"One minute," he said, feeling like he was in a basketball game.
Fortunately, the gate was already in his view, so he quickened his pace.
Some students, who were also running, felt a strong breeze go past them, making them frown.
"Now, what the heck was that?"
Sir Dao was already in his spot, a smirk on his face and a stopwatch on his hand.
"Thirty seconds," the old man muttered.
He could see a lot of students running toward the gate, and he knew that most of them weren't going to make it.
"Ten seconds," he said, one of his hands already on the gate, getting ready to close it.
As he was about to close the gate, he felt a strong force oppose it. He was no match to the force, and he found himself stumbling back.
Sir Dao clicked his tongue and was about to shout at the culprit, but he stopped when he saw the young man's handsome face.
"There's still five seconds left, sir," he said, pointing to the stopwatch.
It was only then that the stopwatch made a noise, proving Kai's point.
With that, Kai bowed his head and jogged to the entrance doors.
"Huh," Sir Dao said. "What a handsome young man. He'd be a pretty good match for my daughter."
With that, he snapped back to reality and closed the school gates, causing groans to erupt from the outside.
Sir Dao smirked. Hearing the sound of distressed students was a joy to his life.
"Come on. Form one single file!"
Kai sighed in relief as he walked through the hallways. The other students were scrambling to get to their classrooms.

However, as a handsome man walked past them, it felt like they couldn't fully function.
Kai was just focused on going to his classroom, so he didn't really pay attention to his surroundings.
"Who's that?"
"A late enrollee?"
"Do you think they'd still accept late enrollees during this time?"
"No, but then again, I've never seen him before. I would have noticed if someone as handsome as him would be studying in our school!"
"Wait, you didn't go to the basketball game on the weekend?"
Meanwhile, Kai's class was filled with excited chatters as they waited for Sir Muchen to enter.
"Did you watch the basketball game?"
"I did! It was so good."
"I can't wait to see Kai."
Bao turned to the side, where Kai was supposed to sit, and smirked.
He was also shocked when he first saw Kai with his new haircut, and he knew that his classmates would react the same—the people who didn't go to the game, that is.
"Did you watch the game, Rambo?" someone asked.
"No," Rambo said. "I'm not that interested in basketball."
"Oh, you're in for a surprise."
"I also didn't get to watch the game because I had to go to the academy," Yumi said. "Was it any good?"
"Oh! Our vice president is also going to be surprised."
"What's happening?" some others who weren't able to watch the game were also curious.
Haobin, who was wearing earphones but wasn't playing any music, subtly looked around and wondered what everybody was talking about.
He wasn't too happy that they were talking about Kai, though.
Just then, Sir Muchen entered the room, noticing the loud noise from the class.
"Well, you guys are excited," he said, chuckling as he placed his items on the table.
"You seem to be in a good mood, sir!" Yumi remarked.
Sir Muchen's smile widened. "Well, of course," he said. "The Shizi Dogs won their first game in the Interhigh Preliminaries!"
"Wooh!" the class celebrated the win, throwing their congratulations to their teacher.
"Speaking of the Shizi Dogs," Sir Muchen muttered. "Is Kai already in?"
"No, sir," the class simultaneously said.
Sir Muchen shook his head in amusement. "Of course. Nothing has changed."
"I'm sure he's on his way," he said. "So, let me set up the presentation while we wait for him."
Kai ran his fingers through his still-wet hair before opening the door.
The students, especially those who didn't go to the opening games, felt invigorated as they were graced by a lovely presence.
"Sorry, sir. I'm late," he said, saluting in the process.
"Who is that?"
"Did we have such a handsome classmate?"
"Why does he kind of sound like Kai, though?"
"What do you mean—kind of? He definitely sounds like Kai."
"But Kai doesn't look like that!"
Sir Muchen turned to the door and smiled. "Oh, Kai. You finally decided to join us."
"KAI?"
