Beast Taming? Nah, Dragon Herding is Way Better!

Chapter 132: You Might Want to Dodge This

Crowned with a golden glow on top of his head, Diluc currently has a magic circle conjured right on top of him, the combination of the ardent orange and crimson red of the fire elemental mana along with the calm azure and verdant green of wind elemental mana dancing around a single spell, the intricate pattern of the circle mesmerizing all but a single person within the entire place.

Seeing the spell, the only one who appears attracted to the appearance and pattern of the magic circle rather than the magic circle itself, ironically, is the only one among this audience that doesn't need to conjure magic circle in order to cast spells and perform all sorts of mystical things with the ambient mana in the atmosphere.

Watching as each strand of symbols in the magic circle intertwine and produce an enlightening visual effect, the principal, Aria, couldn't help but feel lost and stunned for a bit before she regains her bearing once again.

'I'll definitely ask him about that once he becomes my student…' she thought to herself with quite the excitement glowing in her eyes, this time different to the usual excitement similar to a kid seeing new toys, now more like a scholar finding out something completely new and fresh about the topic they are most curious and dedicated about.

"I'll take the offensive now"

After the thoughts in her mind, she snapped out of her daze as she heard the words coming out of the emperor-like young man's mouth, her face filled with anticipation of what is about to happen next, a curiosity more towards the spell that her self-proclaimed, soon to be disciple just conjured, wondering what sort of effects does this spell has.

As she is waiting for the next turn of events, the young man piquing her attention now has his gaze locked at the due who appears to be ready to face him once more, the soft-spoke young lady entering a stance not much different to her previous one, the young man beside her no longer acting like a complete beginner as he gets into a proper stance as well.

Seeing that the two appears to be ready to take his attack now, the emperor-like young man, Diluc, smiles as he nods towards them, earing a nod from them as well, the three of them smiling at each other due to this moment but immediately returns to their focused state as every second in a battle such as this is integral to grasping the eventual win.

Prepared to receive a ball of flame that might be following them just like the fireball he used when he is dealing with the multitude of the opponents that he has before he reached this place, the duo was taken by quite the surprise as they saw numerous burning flames in a fire shaped like all sorts of weapons, some of them swords and spears among all other useful tools.

Smiling as he saw the shock on their faces, Diluc points towards their location as he willed the wind elemental mana in the surrounding to swirl around the weapons that is floating above is head, making the spell look more and more dangerous for anyone, speaking to them as a warning before he sent his attack.

"You might want to dodge this one" he declared as he waved his raise hands, a signal that the second round of the fight between the three of them already begun, and just from the start, one can tell how different his offensives are compared to when the two are previously attacking.

As he swings his hand, the weapons floating above his head seems to roar into life, shooting forward with such a terrifying speed that made the attack too difficult to follow for the average eyes, a testament to that claims being the fact that the two elven beauties watching from the distance couldn't even follow the movements of the weapons either moving both all-around possibly to distract or moving really mature for a child of this state.

Piercing through the air and making it look like he is ripping the skies apart, the flaming weapons rushed towards the direction of both Zixiang and Changsheng, the two of them feeling flabbergasted as it is only when there are a few centimeters away from both of them and the emperor-like young man's attack that they recognized that they are in a severe danger.

Using the best of their abilities, the two of them decided to abandon the spire they are standing on previously, thinking that it is far more important to not hurt yourself for the next round especially when it is exactly the next round that will define whether one will be accepted to the Primaria Class or not.

A good decision on their part as the moment that the attack comes into contact with the spire they are previously standing on, the spire just disappeared without anything happening in between, no mana dispersion or heat increasing, not even the melting of the materials used to create those spires, only disappearing completely as if it was never there to begin with, the more knowledgeable ones in the audience can even imagine the amount and absurdity the mana compressed using this method appears to be far more powerful

"Holy… damn, what the fuck did just happened there…."

"How did that even disappear like that!? Are you serious?"

"That attack is dangerous…"

"How is that even possible for a seemingly lower-level spell?"

Watching in wonder as they felt quite confused with what just happened, the older students talks among themselves talking, contemplating and speculating as to what sort of trick did the emperor-like young man did in order to completely it, obviously not convinced that he did it all with his strength.

"That was a great take on mana compression"

"Fucking monster, it took me thirteen whole years to master that level of mana compression, yet here he is, seemingly not even troubled with how he compresses mana at all.

"Old generations are eventually going to be replaced by the new ones after all, it's just that… who knew it would be this fast? Are we, getting too old?" another instructor added as he suddenly starts getting sentimental in the end, making the other instructor shake their heads as they felt like he is over reacting, especially when mages and martial artists are capable of living far longer lives the stronger they become.

On the other hand, compared to the majorly clueless masses of the older students chattering around as they watched more of the match, these instructors commented mostly on what they are certain of now, and the fact that even they acknowledge that what the emperor-like young man is doing is something that they can do only after long years of training.

While these two sides of the audiences continue to interact among themselves, the topic of their conversations is currently looking at a new floating gray screen in front of him, this one revealing yet another pleasant surprise that made him want to do nothing more than to dance and enjoy the moment.

[Due to your show of creativity in using your spell as well as the mana in the surroundings, there is a rise in the astonishment of numerous ancient spirits, some of them giving praises of your wit and mind, stating their respect for you.]

Immediately after he saw this, Diluc decided to navigate towards the mission tab of the Dragon Herding System, all while still paying most of his attention to the duo who now occupies a bit of a lower place than what the two of them initially occupied, a place now gone with the wind as the emperor-like young man's previous attack completely vanishes it from existence.

[Unbending Will (Temporary Mission, Extreme Difficulty, One-day time limit)]

[Description: (Click to expand)]

[Reward: Depending on the number of the ancient spirits that you stimulated and managed to get the respect of, a certain amount of reward shall be given to you, with the minimum reward being the legacy of the ancient spirit/s that you managed to earn the respect of.]

[Note: For every nine ancient spirit that you earned the respect of, the system will provide an additional reward, ranging from Realm Gold to chances to acquire a new draconic egg (Currently, you already earned the respect of forty-five ancient spirits, the system has detected that there are one hundred and eight ancient spirits currently observing the things happening in the arena)]

After reading through this, Diluc thought that acquiring the approval of all ancient spirits appears to be possible as long as he continues to take the spotlight during this competition for the spots in the Primaria Class, something that he already swore to do as he needs to pull the attention of those potential powerful backers to himself.

Shaking his head as he is aware that it is not the time for those thoughts, he directs his focus towards the duo once again, still stupefied as their questioning gaze clearly reveals their curiosity towards the sudden disappearance of the spire they are originally standing on, cautiousness growing larger and larger in them as they saw the crown of a magic circle still up and functional, adorning the head of their opponent.

"Want to learn how I did that?"
