Beast Taming? Nah, Dragon Herding is Way Better!

Chapter 136: Victory in Two Battlefronts!

"Just stand there you two, it's my turn now~~" with her eyes glowing a verdant green as she observes the battlefield, Alea announces with an authoritative, clearly commanding tone in her voice, involuntarily stopping the two on their tracks, with Alfia's expression changing into pity towards the group of people approaching them.

"Poor people…" as she steps away from whatever it is that the elven princess is going to hit all while pulling the frail-young man away from the area as well, Alfia said with the same hint of pity in her voice, making the young man wonder why is it that she thinks like that.

"Miss Alfia, why are you saying that? They're still getting closer to us…" the usually timid Michael stated with his fighting intent still soaring to an all-time high, surprising the young elven duchess as she never really thought that this batch mate, possibly about to be classmate of theirs, is capable of showing such emotions in him, seeing how timid he is and all when they first saw him.

"Well, Alea is quite the mage you see, and while she needs my protection, that is because she's more specialized in strategic spells, spells that alters the trajectory of battles like that" as she starts explaining to the young man, Alfia observed the shadow under them getting darker, as if there's something that is covering the sun above them, and whatever it is, it's definitely something huge.

As she continues explaining, she eventually looks up to the sky and saw a massive congregation of vines rushing towards their opponents, the fact that this gathering of wood elemental matter is twisting and turning around making it appear life-like, as if this is no normal magic at all.

"Princess Aria is… a dual elemental mage as well?" watching the verdant magic circle just a few inches away from the elven princess rapidly create vines seemingly out of nowhere, Michael blurted out in surprise as encountering one dual elemental mage in the body of his roommate is already enough, his firepower making it possible for them to easily defend against any other opponents that might team up during this part of the competition, and yet here they are, possessing another dual elemental mage in their team, with a completely different set of element she has an affinity with, meaning more versatility to them.

"Well, surprised?" seeing the shocked expression on the young man's face, Alfia more of pointed out than asked, all while having the signature cheeky, teasing smile on her face, her gaze making the young man feel embarrassed as he also realizes that he must be over reacting a bit.

"Yes, but I'm glad as well, this means that we have an even better chance of defending the highest spire…" the young man pointed out as the young elven duchess carrying her let go of him, prompting him to pat his clothing as he lands on a spire not too far away from the topmost one where both the emperor-like young man and the elven princess stands.

Meanwhile, as the two of them continues conversing about the elven princess, said princess' attack already reaches the vicinity of their opponent, the dragon-like coiling of the group of vines from her spell scaring majority of the opponents getting closer and closer to their position, some of them running away while some just froze on their spot out of fear.

"First that Alfia's manipulation, and then this little princess' Creation magic… this batch of elves have quite the talents…" looking at the spell that Alea casts, the principal said with a hint of smile peaking on her face, the abilities and potentials of these freshmen making her more and more satisfied, her mind thinking that this is going to be an interesting batch of students to teach, especially the ones standing at the top of this year's hierarchy.

The instructors merely nod at her remarks, expressing their agreement without speaking as they feel all too fascinated, having seen this type of utilization of spells and magic only for a few times if they even saw them before this at all, good thing though is even if some of them never saw this type of magic, they had already read about it in records and books available for them in the academy.

As the instructors remains silent watching the unfolding of the events, the ones targeted by the elven princess' spell are the complete opposite of these instructors, having panicked minds all while screaming and shouting frantically, some moving around completely confused while some of them doesn't even have the ability to move at all, some remains standing in place while some with their knees giving out on them out of fear.

Who wouldn't? A massive, dragon-like mass of vine approaching their area clearly with the intent to hurt them, its size scaring them completely as it is more than enough for them to have no room for escape at all, the only thing they can do in front of this colossus being standing, and waiting for their eventual elimination from this round of the competition.

'Fuck!! We're all talents but why do these people make us feel like some common practitioners!?'

'Monsters!! They're all fucking monsters!!!'

'What the hell is with them?! And why do they even need to team up when they're that strong!?'

Thoughts ran in the minds of these geniuses all well known in their places as people who are stubborn and unbending, yet now, they just couldn't help but cower as they witness themselves being overshadowed by another person who is branded the same as them, a genius.

As the spell Alea conjured slammed onto the direction of her target, some of them tries their best to struggle and free themselves from being tangled with the vines completely surrounding their area, a struggle that appears to be all for naught as they eventually got caught up and tied to the vines, dragging them down as the dragon-like form of the spell plunges itself all the way down to the ground of the arena, eliminating everyone that it managed to drag, along with said people's hopes to enter the Primaria Class.

"That's one hell of an impressive spell you got in your arsenal" looking at the aftermath of her spell, Diluc praised as he watches quite a number of competitors fall down the ground, effectively eliminating them from the competition, whistling to express his admiration before giving a thumbs up to the elven princess, who smiles as she heard his praise.

"Nothing as impressive as those flame spears that can destroy the spires, fufu~~" the elven princess said as she laughs demurely, catching the young man off-guard as he never really witnesses this elven princess laugh all lady-like before.

"Wow, who would've guessed you can act like that?" pointing it out, Diluc said without any hint of thinking about his words, annoying the elven princess who pouts her mouth before poking fingers at the emperor-like young man.

"What do you mean with that!? I'm a princess you know? I was basically forced into practicing etiquette at a young age!!" she pointed out with a slightly fierce voice almost as if she is defending herself, causing the smile on the emperor-like young man's face to get even wider, the smile making her all the more embarrassed.

"Alright alright, enough with the flirting, I'm watching, you're making me jealous you know?" catching the elven princess off-guard, a voice sounded from near them, a teasing voice she is all too familiar with, the owner of said voice appearing and from behind her, a frail-looking young man follows with the rapier he previously used already back in its sheath.

"A-Alfia!! W-what do you mean by that!?" surprised by her cousin's sudden appearance, Alea stuttered as she tries her best to feign innocence, something that she fails to do despite her best efforts in an attempt to do so.

"Oh, nothing, nothing, looks like you haven't had your fill of flirting yet, want me to join in the fun?" not yet relenting on teasing the elven princess, Alfia added with the signature cheeky smile on her face, her teasing causing the timid Michael to feel really embarrassed, causing him to blush as he directs his gaze to the ground, all while Alfia herself already rushes near Diluc as well.

"Y-you!! Humph!!" feeling really annoyed by the young elven duchess, Alea pretended to be angry as she pouts her mouth and moves her gaze away from her cousin, said cousin feeling really accomplished making the princess act like that, showing Diluc her pride in achieving that as she stares at him eye to eye, before flashing him a brilliant smile, raising one of her hands and forming a V with them.

"Hehehe~~~ victory for me in two battlefronts!!!" she said proudly as if it is the biggest achievement she had ever attained in her entire life, her words causing a small laugh to escape not only out of the emperor-like young man, but out of his roommate as well.
