Chapter 29 - Monster of the Borderlands (9)
[Shell loaded]
A lump of flesh as large as the upper body of a cart Orc was expelled from the body. The throwing troops grabbed it with their pincers and contracted all their muscles to prepare for the throw.
However, the Orcs couldn’t stop it.
In the first place, they were too busy trying to block and push back the enemies that had come right up to their noses to even notice what the monsters far away were doing.
[Shell fired]
Finally, the loaded shells were fired towards the distant sky. These were soldiers who, with all the capabilities of the legion concentrated into their creation, could achieve throwing distances comparable to catapults with just their physical abilities.
The biological bombs, flying in a parabolic arc, hit the Orc villages with precision.
“Wh-what is this!”
The accelerated bombs collided with the ground, structures, or unlucky Orcs with strong impacts.
The biological bombs, being merely lumps of flesh, were instantly crushed, scattering the gas and poison liquid inside in all directions.
“P-poison! It’s poison!”
The bursting poison gas and liquid destroyed the Orcs’ respiratory systems or melted their flesh.
The legion’s acidic poison, created by absorbing and condensing all the poisons handled by demonic beasts into their most powerful form, was strong enough to corrode even steel.
The Orcs, whose resistance to poison wasn’t particularly outstanding, collapsed as the poison gas spread.
‘Push through.’
As the indiscriminate bombardment continued, gaps finally appeared in the defense line, and the Queen, grinning at the satisfactory effect of the biological bombs, properly charged her soldiers.
Amidst the chaos caused by bombs falling incessantly without any hindrance, the village walls were finally breached, and assault troops with hard armor and blades, along with numerous common soldiers, rushed in and began massacring the Orcs.
“No! Hold your positions. If we scatter, it’s over!”
Shaman-like figures hurriedly summoned winds to blow away the poison gas. However, it was already too late for such actions to change the situation.
The monsters pouring in like a flood knocked down the resisting Orcs one by one, and as more fell, the Orcs were overwhelmed by force.
“How could this happen…”
The tribal chief who ruled the village slumped to the ground with a blank face, watching his warriors die miserably.
Just as one hand can’t handle ten, no matter how bravely the warriors fought, there were already too many enemies sweeping through the village.
If they had magic stone spell turrets capable of firing large-scale spells, they might have been able to hold out using that firepower, but such grand facilities didn’t exist in their village, which frequently moved due to their nomadic lifestyle.
“Chief, please evacuate quickly. We can’t let the village lineage be cut off!”
Some urgently advised the chief to flee. They had already prepared villagers to evacuate, including young Orcs.
It was a plea to abandon this place and save at least their lives while the rest held out.
“No, I cannot abandon this land given by our ancestors and the lord.”
But the chief shook his head. Instead, he raised his axe towards the approaching monsters.
“I will die here as a warrior. So, make sure you survive and never forget this, and be sure to take revenge.”
The chief, who proudly declared this to the grieving people, ran forward with his axe along with his subordinate warriors who decided to stay for the last stand to protect those fleeing.
A sacrifice risking everything for their home and the future of the tribe. That was the duty of those born as warriors.
“Die, you monsters!”
In front of his falling subordinates, the chief, with his axe stained with enemy blood, leaped alone into hundreds of enemies.

[Enemy village completely conquered]
“Better results than calculated. Create temporary nests in the conquered villages and supply nutrients to the soldiers.”
The Orcs, attacked by us without knowing why, fought more fiercely than expected.
But regardless of the fierce battle, the exchange ratio was more favorable than I had calculated. It was thanks to the performance of the throwing troops showcased for the first time.
As a result, having won the competition, I could comfortably collect the spoils. Though they were fierce opponents just moments ago, once killed, they were just lumps of meat made of organic matter.
“A considerable number of survivors have already been observed fleeing in all directions from each village. While many were chased down and killed to the end, some managed to escape alive. So we need to hurry.”
Once war was declared, my basic strategy was not to give the opponent time.
One of our advantages is that the opponent doesn’t know much about us, while I know as much as I need to about them. It was to maximize this advantage.
That’s why we brought workers carrying my cells to the conquered enemy villages to create temporary nests, and began cramming all the nutrients we could get from the enemy corpses and nearby sources into the artificial digestive organs.
My soldiers can continue fighting as long as they replenish just enough nutrients to move their bodies.
I intended to kill as many enemies as possible and gain more land before news about us spread further.
‘Having lost the eastern part of their territory from the start, they’ll have even less capacity to hold out.’
My scout troops had already conquered their skies.
In the clearly visible landscape below, we could see the panicked Orcs hurriedly preparing defenses and mobilizing their army.
But having succeeded in our surprise attack, we had already significantly reduced the enemy’s fighting power.
Unless reinforcements come from outside, it’s clear they won’t be able to withstand my attack.
「Consciousness Enhancement 5」
「Physical Enhancement 4-3」
「Reproduction Enhancement 4-3」
The trait points are also steadily increasing. It’s possible that when physical or reproduction hits level 5, some new ability might emerge.
Perhaps we’ll know when the war with the Orcs is over.
“For now, let’s go with this.”
Although we could deploy ‘new soldiers’, the enemies still couldn’t properly deal with even the throwing troops.
I planned to reveal a new card when they came up with countermeasures by squeezing out all their strength.
Doing so would give the enemy maximum despair and me maximum efficiency.
“The next targets are villages slightly larger than the border area villages.”
“They’ve probably already heard the news and are preparing to fight.”
“Even so, it’s only been two days, right?”
I smirked at Seira’s words.
It took us only two days to conquer the enemy villages and turn them into temporary nests to supply nutrients to our forces.
The larger villages closer to the center of the territory, where survivors had fled, would surely make their own preparations, but no matter what, they couldn’t help but lack time.
“Although my avatar is slightly off to the northeast, it can still easily access the news that the Hobgoblins receive. The fact that no news has reached there yet means that the fact that the Orc territory is under our attack hasn’t spread widely yet.”
Our commitment to swift and decisive action was effective.
It seemed we might be able to capture the Orc territory before the surrounding people even knew about it.
“Go and conquer the large villages. As before, we’ll move all at once this time too.”
I instructed Seira to take the replenished forces and attack the enemy once again.
Not only had we replenished nutrients, but we had also produced additional troops. Despite the losses from the previous battle, our forces had actually grown larger than when we first attacked the villages.
We already had over dozens of nests, all equipped with facilities to digest nutrients and produce soldiers.
As long as we had sufficient nutrients, we had the ability to produce endless troops, several times more than now, in a short period.
‘Having not heard news of other players, I’ve eliminated most variables.’
I had interrogated prisoners along the way to see if there were any notable forces in the area recently, but I hadn’t heard such testimony.
Having confirmed that there were no final obstacles, I immediately gave the order to attack.
We needed to strike relentlessly and make them collapse to minimize our own losses.
“The, the northwestern Orc territory has also been attacked by a massive horde of mysterious demonic beasts!”
The news reached the Hobgoblin city where my avatar was just as our fully prepared allied forces began their non-stop march.
“What on earth are those things?”
“Even if there are talented individuals who can control demonic beasts, how can they control so many monsters?”
The area around my avatar was abuzz with talk about my attack on the Orc territory.
The reactions were generally disbelieving or terrified.
It was a valuable experience for me, as I wanted to know how they would react to this news.
“Is our lord going to mobilize the army to help them?”
“How could that be possible? He’s already being asked for more soldiers from other places!”
When I casually asked, they shook their heads in disgust.
It was true that they needed to save the Orcs, but they weren’t in a position to mobilize a large-scale army to help them.
“We have too many opponents to block with our army. Probably hiring mercenaries to send as support is the limit.”
A knight snorted confidently, acting as if he knew everything.
Mercenaries, that’s all they’re sending as support.
Having heard that answer too, I smirked. It seemed I could just sweep away the Orcs without much worry.
