Betrayed by My Alpha, Bound to the King

Chapter 2: The Luna

Night fell, and Ayesha sat quietly, her emotions in turmoil. The healer had confirmed her pregnancy some time ago. She was truly pregnant. She softly stroked her still-flat belly. "You're a blessing," she whispered, a faint smile on her lips.

All she ever wanted was simple… a family of her own. To be a wife, a mother, and someday, if the Almighty permitted, a grandmother… perhaps even a great-grandmother.

This pregnancy should have been a miracle, a source of pure joy, but her heart was filled with doubt. The man she carried this child for already had a Luna. No matter how much she clung to hope, fear about the future began to take hold.

"What should I do now?" she whispered, overwhelmed by reality. The Luna… how would she respond?

Ayesha couldn't help but worry about her and her baby's safety.

Suddenly, loud knocks broke her train of thought. She hurriedly opened the door to find a servant standing there. "The Alpha," he said quietly, "has summoned you."

Her breath caught in her throat. 'Summoned? After everything?'

Initially, she didn't move. Then she exhaled shakily and nodded, her mind racing. But one thing was clear—she would tell Ronan about their baby, as he had the right to know.

The route to the Alpha's private chambers was very familiar. However, she noticed they were heading in a different direction. She pointed out, "This isn't his wing." But the servant remained silent, which made her uneasy.

She sensed something was wrong, but suddenly the servant spoke again, "The Alpha wants to meet you in a new private chamber from now on."

Ayesha's frown deepened, her doubts lingering as she continued to follow, stopping before a door.

"Inside," the guard commanded flatly.

Ayesha took a steady breath and stepped inside, her body suddenly frozen, eyes widening in alarm.

In the center of the room stood that woman… 'The Luna,' Ayesha realized, her stomach twisting with recognition. This was the same woman who had confidently approached Ronan, taking his hand as if she already owned him.

Her gaze was sharp and assessing as it roved over her from head to toe.

She snapped her fingers, and a maid stepped forward, hissing into Ayesha's ear, "On your knees. Show respect to your Luna. This is Luciana Gray, daughter of the Alpha of Silver Claw Pack."

Ayesha quickly dropped to her knees. She knew she was in trouble, just from the look the Luna gave her. All she could do was pray the Luna wouldn't hurt her or do anything worse, although her gut feeling was already telling her to run.

"So," Luciana said, her voice sharp. "This is the infamous little omega."

Ayesha remained silent, hands trembling at her sides.

Luciana's smile widened. "You thought spreading your legs would make you Luna?"

Ayesha flinched but stayed quiet, her head bowed. Luciana's eyes narrowed. "You showed up to my ceremony. My sacred rite. You dared to ruin it with your pitiful presence."

"I apologise, I didn't mean to-" Ayesha started, only to be cut off when the Luna suddenly yanked her hair, followed by a hard slap on her cheek that made her head snap sideways.

The sting spread across her cheek like fire.

"You don't speak unless I permit it," Luciana snarled. "You are nothing. A common hole Ronan used to relieve himself before I arrived."

Ayesha's eyes filled with tears, but she kept them at bay because she refused to let them see her cry.

"You believed he loved you?" Luciana scoffed. "You're merely a whimpering orphan, nameless and insignificant. You're nothing but filth."

Luciana turned to the guards standing at the door. "Hit her. Leave marks. Maybe pain will teach her her place."

The two men didn't hesitate. A fist struck Ayesha's ribs. Another forced her to her knees. Instinctively, Ayesha held her stomach, shielding the baby inside.

"Please stop," she begged, only to hear the Luna's mocking scoff.

"Hit her more!"

Another guard moved forward, aiming low. Ayesha's eyes widened in panic. She couldn't let her baby be harmed.

"No! Don't! I'm pregnant! I'm carrying the Alpha's baby, so please stop!" she shouted urgently.

Luciana's face contorted with anger. "You lying bitch."

The guard hesitated. Then suddenly, boom. The door slammed open as Ronan burst in, his face dark with anger and his eyes glowing with fury.

"What is the meaning of this?!" he demanded, his voice echoing loudly in the chamber.

His eyes quickly moved to Ayesha, who was still crumpled on the floor, then to Luciana, her hand raised mid-strike and standing too close.

Blood stained Ayesha's lip, and fear darkened her eyes. She whispered softly, almost unintelligibly, "Ronan…"

The guards retreated, and Luciana simply pursed her lips, her nostrils flaring with controlled anger.

"Everyone. Out," Ronan commanded.

No one responded.

"I said out! NOW!"

Luciana grunted but exited silently, with the guards and servants following her. Ayesha heard the door slam shut.

She remained curled on the floor, trembling, unable to move. At last, tears began to fall silently down her cheeks.

"Get up!" Ronan ordered.

Ayesha cautiously pushed herself upright, her fingers trembling as she clutched her dress to steady herself. She then looked at Ronan and asked faintly, "Why? You lied to me... You made me believe-"

But her words got stuck in her throat, and she couldn't complete her sentence.

Ronan stayed silent. Summoning her strength, she pressed on. "You said you loved me and I'm yours. You said… You said I'd be your Luna."

Silence.

Finally, he moved closer and softly touched her cheek.

"The marriage is purely political," he stated bluntly. "Luciana, the daughter of the Alpha of Silver Claw, was the reason for the alliance."

Ayesha felt a pang in her chest.

"So, that's all I ever meant to you?" she asked tremblingly. "Just something to use until you found someone better?"

"No," he answered with a calm yet sharp tone. "You are still mine."

She retreated slightly. "I'm not yours."

"Yes, you are."

"I'm not staying," she breathed, her hand instinctively curling over her stomach. Luna's eyes, filled with intense hatred, were unmistakably fierce… eyes that seemed ready to do anything to destroy Ayesha.

"Not after what she did," Ayesha breathed. "Luciana will kill me. She'll kill the baby-"

"I won't let that happen."

"You can't shield me from her," she pleaded desperately. "She's your Luna now. I've noticed how she looks at me, as if I'm dirt. She'll never stop until I'm gone."

Ronan's jaw clenched. "You will stay."

"We can leave. Lyra and I will be safe-"

She didn't notice the moment his temper snapped. One second she was speaking, the next, his hand closed around her throat and slammed her against the stone wall.

Ayesha choked, fingers clawing at his wrist. Her feet lifted from the floor. "You think you can leave me?" he growled, face inches from hers. His voice was low, vicious, trembling with fury. "You think I'll let you walk away with my child?"
