Hinamori Momo stared blankly at the figure pinned high against the wall, letting out a pained gasp.
She could never have imagined that Captain Aizen, who had been speaking and laughing with her just yesterday, would suddenly meet such a tragic end.
A few moments later, several patrolling Shinigami hurried to the scene.
When they saw Aizen's lifeless body, their eyes widened in shock, and disbelief filled their faces.
"Captain Aizen!"
"How can this be?!"
"Vice-Captain Hinamori, what... what happened here?!"
"Hurry and report this immediately!"
As time passed, more and more people gathered at the crime scene.
Upon hearing the news, those arriving couldn't help but gasp sharply.
"First, Captain Ichimaru was killed near the White Way Gate, and now even Captain Aizen..."
"I just received word that the entire Tsunayashiro family was wiped out—no one was spared!"
"Are these incidents connected? Who could have killed Captain Aizen?"
"They must be related! The murderer is likely the same person!"
"Could it be... him?"
Hinamori Momo knelt on the ground, her eyes vacant, tears streaming down her face. Hearing the murmurs around her, something suddenly clicked in her mind.
She hastily wiped away her tears, stood up, and quickly left.
"Captain Aizen... I will seek justice for you!"
Gritting her teeth, Hinamori clenched her fists and rushed off with determination.
Twelfth Division – Technology Development Bureau
Akon sat in front of a console, sighing in frustration.
Due to the recent series of incidents, many members of the Technology Development Bureau had been reassigned to patrol duty.
Thinking back to the explosion at the Shino Academy, he recalled Kurotsuchi Mayuri's reaction at the time.
As the Deputy Director of the Technology Development Bureau, Akon believed he understood Kurotsuchi Mayuri fairly well.
However, he hadn't expected that his captain would show neither interest in the matter nor concern—only lingering unease.
This deepened Akon's curiosity and raised many questions.
The Legendary Man
Just as Akon was lost in thought, the instrument in front of him began flashing red.
He looked at the six glowing white dots and couldn't help but exclaim, "No! The Sekkiseki stone's barrier has failed! This is bad—this is a disaster!"
Without wasting a second, Akon dashed toward Kurotsuchi Mayuri's office.
Meanwhile, Kurosaki Ichigo and his group had successfully bypassed the barrier above and entered Seireitei.
Within the Phoenix Palace, Aaron frowned slightly as he sensed a disturbance within the Seireitei.
It was a question that had lingered in his mind for the past two days.
According to the original timeline of Bleach, Ichigo and his companions were supposed to enter Seireitei using the Senkaimon under Yoruichi's guidance the day after their encounter with Ichimaru Gin.
However, after he had killed Ichimaru Gin, events seemed to have shifted subtly.
Ichigo and the others had not entered Seireitei at the expected time.
The matters involving Ichimaru Gin and the Tsunayashiro family had placed suspicion directly on him.
Though it had no tangible effect on him, his instincts told him that Aizen may have staged his own death in advance.
As for Ichigo and the others' next move, he wasn't certain.
But one thing was clear—they would inevitably seek out the Reishūkaku.
When that time came, Aizen would surely appear to claim the Hōgyoku from Rukia.
Thinking of this, Aaron shook his head in resignation.
It seemed he could do nothing but watch events unfold.
The news of Aizen's death spread like wildfire, igniting heated discussions among the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. Many pointed to Aaron as the prime suspect.
Returning to the Fourth Division's barracks after a meeting, Captain Unohana Retsu harbored her own suspicions.
Behind Aizen's supposed death, an unseen conspiracy may have been at play.
As the captain of the Fourth Division, she was among the first to arrive at the scene.
Hoping to uncover the truth, she meticulously examined the body.
But in the end, she found nothing unusual.
This only deepened her doubts.
For some reason, she couldn't shake the thought of Aaron.
Just the night before, as she was leaving the Phoenix Palace, he had spoken a cryptic phrase to her:
"What the eyes see is not always the truth."
A strange sense of unease settled over her.
Coupled with the series of questionable orders issued by Central 46 following Rukia's sentencing, her suspicions grew even stronger.
Determined to uncover the truth, Unohana decided to conduct her own investigation.
For the sake of Soul Society, for Seireitei...
And for the person she had always cared for.
From Aizen's "death" to the sudden intrusion of Ryoka, Seireitei had never been more chaotic.
After yet another emergency meeting, the captains and lieutenants dispersed, each assigned to their respective duties.
Kyoraku Shunsui and Ukitake Jūshirō walked side by side, a heavy air between them.
"I was hoping to take a peaceful afternoon nap," Shunsui sighed, adjusting the brim of his hat. "But it looks like you and I are in for a long few days."
Ukitake let out a weak cough, his expression turning grave.
Lowering his gaze, he spoke softly, "Shunsui, don't you think all of this feels... strange?"
"That person may have returned, but we still don't know his true objective."
"And yet, I can't shake the feeling that he's not the one orchestrating all of this."
Shunsui's easygoing smile faded.
"Jūshirō, you're still thinking about Rukia, aren't you?"
"That aside, it's odd how Central 46 hasn't reacted the way they usually would. Instead of focusing on him, they've placed Rukia under severe scrutiny."
"Are they trying to make an example out of her? How ridiculous."
"He isn't afraid of even Old Man Yamamoto—why would he care about some bureaucrats?"
Realizing how blunt his statement was, Shunsui chuckled awkwardly and continued walking alongside Ukitake.
After departing from the First Division barracks, Unohana made her way toward Central 46's chambers.
She planned to start her investigation there.
Not long after, she arrived at her destination.
Just as she was about to proceed, a voice filled with complicated emotions called out behind her.
"Captain Unohana... why are you here?"
