Bound To The Shadow Alpha

I blinked my heavy eyes open, my view hazy at first. But I didn't miss the figure on the other side of the room, bent awkwardly beside the bed. My heard hammered as I stood up, trying to figure out who it was. The room being dark didn't help as the only light available was that of the small lamp on the desk.

"Mara?". I approached the figure gently and the person raised their head. Relief flushed through me when I realized it was indeed Mara and not some creepy person that had sneak into our room. " You scared me. Why are you—". I paused when I heard sniffles from her.

Is she crying?

I crouched to her level in panic " Hey what's wrong?".

Her eyes brimmed with fresh tears and her lips trembled " I-I-I am in trouble, Lyssa ".

My heart beat wildly against my chest " What do you mean you're in trouble?".

" I swear it was a mistake. I didn't mean to do it, I didn't mean to do it". She kept of repeating like a broken record, shaking her head with her hands that were buried in her hair. " I didn't mean to do it".

" Do what, Mara? ". I tried coaxing her gently, grabbing the sides of her face with my hands " What did you do?".

"I-I, uhmnn...Agatha asked me to get Alternmints from the healer— she usually uses it to brew...the Alpha tea...it helps him relax. She said she noticed he has been tensed than usual lately. I...uhmn...I went to the healer...yes, the healer and he asked me to fetch it from where he kept it. This is not my first time fetching it so I know what it looks like. I swear i— "...

" Get to the point, Mara".

" I think I took the Archmint instead". She started another round of tears, something I didn't think was possible due to how red and puffy her eyes was .

Archmint?

" It is very similar to Alternmints but it's purpose is to aggravated not relax. The Alpha is going to be dizzy at first but then his wolf will take absolute control of his body and—i don't know what will happen next".

As if on cue, we heard a loud crash outside, followed by a loud piercing scream. One that sounded to much like Agatha.

I got up immediately, intending to go outside but Mara hand stopped me. She seemed sobered up because she stood up, her grip on me tightening. " What? Are you crazy? The Alpha's wolf is berserk. It's better we just sit it out and wait till the drug worn out".

I snatched my hand away from her , hugging it close to my beating heart. "What if—what if he hurts someone or himself ". I don't know why but the thought of him hurting himself made my heart heavy.

I opened the door slowly —ive been doing that a lot lately— and stepped out, with Mara following hesitantly behind. From the way she was sniffing and crying behind me, I'm very sure it'll be a dead give away that she was the culprit.

My whole body tremble with fear as we approach the main building, unsure of what we were going to find.

The moment we stepped into the main hall, a chair flew across the corridor, slamming into the wall with a bang that nearly stopped my heart.

I stood, transfixed in shock at first before a nudge had me bending down behind a chair. "What are you doing out here?". Drex whispered harshly , his words coming out in rushed breaths.

" What happened?". I ignored his questions, scanning the whole main hall with my eyes. It was a total mess but the Alpha is nowhere to be found.

" I don't know but the Alpha staggered into the kitchen, looking for Agatha . He was totally out of it and one moment it looked like he might faint but the next moment, he totally snapped". " He almost just killed her but thankfully Beta Ryan got here fast".

Just as he said those words, a loud thud resonated through the room and it took me moments to realize what fell from up the stairs. Or more like who

" Oh Goddess". I covered my mouth with my hand, blocking the scream that threatened to escape.

Beta Ryan.

Before any of us could make a move to help him, a figure landed on the floor on all fours and in the same moment, grabbed the Beta by his neck and pinned him to the wall .

" Now, Demi". The Beta managed to yell, despite Alpha's Kaelith huge hand pressing down hard on his throat .Almost immediately, another figure jumped on them, stabbing what looks like a syringe on the Alpha's back.

I watched everything in panic and attempted to get up, to do what ? I don't know . But I knew I wanted to run to him. I didn't care how stupid it was—but I wanted to check if he was ok. But Drex's grip heldme down, and maybe... maybe I was scared too.

The Alpha trashed around a bit before his shoulder sagged and his hold on Beta Ryan, release. He slumped down to the floor . No one moved for a second and it seems like we were all trying to catch our breaths before Beta Ryan started coughing violently and the woman who I assumed is Gemma Demi, rushed to him.

My eyes fixed on the still Alpha and I found myself approaching him with hesitant steps. Drex grip on me was gone now— as he had also rushed to the Beta.

His eyes were still opened, but barely— enough for me to notice his grey eyes, that I loved so much, were black now. But it captivated me all the same and I found myself not willing to look away from them. I saw his hand, lift a little towards me but they dropped back and he opened his mouth, as if trying to say something. " M-M-M a——".....his eyes rolled to the back of his eyes and he passed out.
