Bound To The Shadow Alpha

I wasn't feeling quite well today. Maybe it's due to the lack of sleep or because of what happened...last night but I found it hard to put on my normal front. I won't let anyone get to me normally but for some reason, Alpha Kaelith's words had gotten under my skin. And he didn't even say much for fuck sake.

In all reasonable sense, I understand his apprehension towards me but what I don't understand is what he meant. I didn't do anything to him...at least, not anything I remember. But he had looked at me with so much disgust that it had pulled out unwanted memories from the past. I know that—

" All earth to Lyssa". Drex waved his hands in front of me, bringing me out of my thoughts " What got you so much disoriented? Are you thinking of how hot I am and how lucky you are to be in my presence".

I scoffed at his cocky tone, rolling my eyes. " You wish". I've been idle since morning — He didn't show up for breakfast so I didn't have to serve him— which was really a big relief. I can't imagine facing him again after last night.

Agatha sent me to the Kitchen when I kept messing up all the work she assigned me ad told me to get my thoughts into place before she sees me again. So here I am, stuck with an equally jobless Drex.

And it'd have been so much fun if he hadn't been probing me about what was on my mind and about the bruise on my head the whole time.

"You know, I feel like this whole friendship thing is one sided". He complained, huffing in an overly dramatic way " You won't even talk to me ".

"Uggghhh, I'm talking to you, aren't I?". I snapped , giving him the side eye.

He flinched, like he was hit by the 'laser' in my eyes, slapping his hands on his shoulder " See, that's what I'm talking about. You're being cranky".

" No, I'm not". I scoffed

"Yes, you definitely are".

"I'm not"..

"You are"

"I'm not".

"You are"...

"Ughhh, I'm definitely not playing this game with you". I facepalmed myself " I'm not in the mood, Drex". My voice came out more tired than I wanted it to and he shifted his chair next to me immediately.

" Hey, what's wrong?".

The way his eyes looked at me worriedly made me feel s bit sorry, because I can never tell him about what happened. How would I even explain it when I don't even understand either.

Thankfully, just before I could say the most probably awkward thing, the door to the kitchen opened and a certain red haired broke the upcoming tense moment.

"Arla". I jumped from my seat, rushing to her in a blink of an eye " I was waiting for you".

Her eyes darts confused between I and Drex before she smiled shyly and said in a small voice " Ryan was reluctant to let me come here".

Well I can't blame him. If I were him, I'll never allow her to step her foot here again — not after what the Alpha said during lunch.

" Wow— betrayal at it's finest". Drex clutch to his chest, staring at the two of us like we had created the greatest atrocity ever " You're gonna ditch me to hang out with your new friend?". The way he gasped dramatically made it seems like he was really hurt but I could the amusement and mischief dancing in his eyes.

" Yeah, I'm ditching you for someone new. Bye, Oldie". I taunt him and stuck out my tongue before guarding Arla outside before he thinks of a comeback.

"Oh, that was close". I released a sigh of relief once we were out. Arla looked confused so I just gave her a small smile before remembering I wasn't really expecting her' By the way,what are you doing here".

"Oh, i—".. she played with the tip of her long hair " I was wondering if you'd like to come with me to the town. I and Ryan were supposed to go into town today to get clothes for him but Alpha called him at the last moment. So I kinda told him that I'll go with you".

"Town?". As in the pack's town . I felt excitment running through me at the prospect of leaving this house...even though it's just a few hours but I'm not so sure the Alpha will...

As if she knew what was running through my mind, she continued "Uhmnn, If you're worried about the Alpha, Ryan had asked him if it was ok and he said yes".

I felt my face light up and I could almost jump up in excitment but hey, I'm a mature young lady.

She chuckled, definitely amused by me reaction.

" Let's go, shall we". I linked my hand with her before pausing when a thought suddenly occured to me " Wait, you don't know your way around here...I don't either. How in hell are we going to get around?".

Her eyes widened in an extremely comical way as if she didn't think of it too " Uhmn...I don't know. I did think of that — oh...that's why he insisted on Felix following us".

"Sorry, who? ".

"Felix — he drives us around".

Oh , the Beta's driver.

"And also, Ryan said he'll join us as soon as he's done with the Alpha" . The way her eyes lighten up whenever she mentioned her mate's is something that needs to be studied. It's as if the thought of him joining us make her want to bounce on her feet...which she's already doing by the way.

Cute...

Back in Moonbeam pack, I never got to leave the pack house. So the people I know and come across with are the people living in the pack house, which explains why I never met Arla. I'm sure if I had met her, I'd definitely remember because her innocence is unmatched. Especially in Moonbeam.

Apparently she's the last daughter of Beta Fabian and I know very well that the non of the Beta daughters resides in the pack . Arla said she came back home because of the mating season.

"Well, lets go, shall we?".
