Part-145
Ryan's curiosity was piqued. "So, do you think someone like her could be related to this scam? I'm not saying she was actively participating, but she might be involved in a passive way, unaware of the real reason her NID was collected."
James continued, "I'm not entirely sure yet, but it seems significant. We need to dig deeper into Mrs. Rahman's background and see if there are any links to our scammer."
Sourov nodded, now more focused. "Alright, let’s get to work and see what we can uncover about Mrs. Rahman and her connections."
The three friends decided to meet up the next day to discuss their next steps. They knew they were getting closer to the truth, and they were determined to uncover it, no matter what it took.
As James went to bed that night, his mind was racing. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was on the verge of a major breakthrough.
Only time would tell if they could bring these scammers to justice.
The next day, James, Ryan, and Sourov met up at school, their minds focused on their mission. They had decided to take a more indirect approach to gathering information about Joya Rahman. Instead of confronting Toya directly, they would observe her from a distance, hoping to catch a glimpse of her grandmother or any clues that might lead them to the scammers.
They spent their free periods lurking in the shadows, watching Toya's every move. She was a popular girl, surrounded by friends, her laughter echoing through the hallways. It was hard to imagine this bubbly teenager being connected to a criminal enterprise.
"This is creepy," Ryan muttered, his voice barely audible.
James nodded in agreement. "I know, but we don't have many options."
"Why are we stalking her?" Ryan whispered, his voice filled with amusement.
"We need to talk to her," James replied, ignoring Ryan's teasing remark. "She might be able to help us. But she doesn't like me as I said before," he pointed out. "She might slap me if I approach her carelessly."
Sourov, ever the optimist, had a different idea. "I'll just ask her out," he said confidently. "She can't resist my charm."
James and Ryan exchanged amused glances. They knew that Sourov's confidence often exceeded his abilities, but they let him have his moment.
After a few minutes of observation, Sourov decided to take action. He walked up to Toya, his confidence on full display. "Hello, beautiful," he said, his voice dripping with charm. "Can I ask you something?"
Toya's expression was one of pure indifference. "No," she replied flatly.
Sourov, taken aback by her directness, tried again. "It's just a few questions," he persisted.
Toya's response was swift and decisive. "No. I'm not interested. So you can leave now."
Sourov returned to his friends, his shoulders drooping in defeat. "She's a tough nut to crack," he admitted.
James and Ryan couldn't help but laugh. They knew that Sourov's direct approach was unlikely to work on Toya. They would have to find a more subtle way to gather information.
