7. The Solution to the Dugu Family's Problem.

[Douluo Continent, Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City, Dugu Mansion...]

"Are you saying you intend to postpone adding Soul Rings to your Martial Soul for six months?" Dugu Xin furrowed his brows as he asked.

Standing beside him, Mo Ying chimed in, her expression a mix of concern and curiosity. "You want to use this six months' time to focus on cultivating the Body Cultivation Technique and Spirit Cultivation Technique you discovered in Mu Qingqiu's ring?"

Dugu Bo, standing a few paces away, remained silent but observant. His sharp eyes studied Dugu Chen, who stood in the middle of the courtyard. The faint morning light illuminated his youthful frame, highlighting a determined expression on his face.

A few paces away from them, Dugu Yan was playing with her brother's Niffler Martial Soul, which had been given the nickname Mochi.

The atmosphere between the adults and Dugu Chen was both tense and expectant as the family tried to grasp the implications of his decision.

Dugu Chen's proposal was unconventional; delaying the acquisition of Soul Rings was virtually unheard of for someone with his level of talent. However, the cultivation techniques he intended to practice could be a game-changer. Otherwise, Dugu Chen wouldn't have made this proposal.

Dugu Bo's deep voice broke the silence as he asked, "Can you explain the reasons behind your decision, Chen'er? And what exactly are these Cultivation Techniques you've discovered?"

Dugu Chen nodded solemnly before beginning his explanation. "Firstly, yesterday we decided to present the public with the narrative that I possess Innate Soul Power of Rank 7 and that my Martial Soul has suffered a negative mutation.

"If we were to hunt for a Soul Ring now and word somehow got out, it would cast doubt on our story. People might start questioning our motives for downplaying my innate talent, suspecting that we have something valuable to hide. This could lead to us losing face and drawing the unwelcome scrutiny of other powers."

Pausing briefly, Dugu Chen continued, his voice steady and measured, "Secondly, and more importantly, our Douluo Continent's cultivation practices are outdated compared to what I've learned from Elder Mu Qingqiu's books.

"Here, cultivation primarily revolves around Soul Power, achieved through meditation techniques. But these methods largely depend on the quality of one's Martial Soul rather than one's comprehension or innate aptitude.

"In the Heaven Cloud Continent, cultivation follows a more advanced path. There, becoming stronger involves cultivating three aspects: Mana, Spiritual Power, and the Body—in that order of importance.

"Their approach doesn't rely solely on their innate talents or resources; instead, they systematically strengthen all facets of themselves.

"On the Douluo Continent, we only focus on cultivating Soul Power. Our Spiritual Power and Body grow stronger as a secondary effect, not as a primary goal.

"But what if we had specific techniques to directly enhance our Spiritual Power and Body alongside Soul Power? If we could strengthen these aspects deliberately, not only would our overall growth be faster, but we could also handle the absorption of higher-age Soul Rings due to our improved physical and mental resilience."

His eyes shone with conviction as he reached his conclusion, "That is why I want to dedicate these six months to cultivating both my Body and Spiritual Power using the techniques from Elder Mu Qingqiu's ring.

"This delay would not only be disadvantageous for me but also set a foundation that will make me stronger in the long run and give me a significant edge over others."

Dugu Bo, Dugu Xin, and Mo Ying exchanged thoughtful glances, as they contemplated the wisdom behind Dugu Chen's explanation.

"In fact, I think you should all consider dedicating the next six months entirely to cultivating these Body and Spirit Cultivation Techniques as well, Grandpa, Father, and Mother," Dugu Chen suggested earnestly. "I'm confident that doing so will bring immense benefits to all of you."

Dugu Bo stroked his beard thoughtfully, his gaze fixed on Dugu Chen. "You truly believe these techniques can make such a significant difference?"

Dugu Chen nodded firmly. "Yes, Grandpa. From what I've read, the Spirit Cultivation Technique called Heaven's Eye Spirit Refining Art grants extraordinary spiritual perception, protection against illusions, emotional insight, and the ability to detect hidden threats and opportunities.

"At the highest level, the technique allows the cultivator to develop a specialized "Heaven's Eye," which acts as a divine eye capable of seeing beyond ordinary physical and spiritual realms.

"As for the Body Cultivation Technique, it is called Jade Body Refinement Art. This technique is heaven sent for the Dugu Family."

Saying this, Dugu Chen paused for a moment, locking eyes with his parents and grandfather one by one, before continuing, "This technique emphasizes achieving a pure, flawless, and indestructible body by imitating the qualities of Jade.

"The practitioner tempers their body to perfection, eliminating impurities while enhancing resilience and beauty. But, the most important aspect of this technique for us, the Dugu family, is that the process of purifying our body renders the body immune to most toxins and poisons."

"What?!"

"Immune to most toxins and poisons?!"

Mo Ying and Dugu Xin exclaimed in shock and disbelief. They couldn't conceal their astonishment at Dugu Chen's revelation.

Dugu Bo, on the other hand, had a dazed expression on his face, his mind struggling to fully grasp the implications of what he had just heard.

For years, he had fought a silent battle with the poison within his own Martial Soul, always on edge, fearing the day when it would overpower him. His dreams of reaching the Titled Douluo rank and solving this problem always seem distant.

He also feared that the strength of Titled Douluo wouldn't be enough to solve the Dugu Family's problem.

When Dugu Xin was born, his fears were only amplified. Learning that his son was born already terribly poisoned made him feel helpless, as though he were cursed to watch his family suffer from the same fate.

Then, before he could find a solution for his son, his grandchildren were born one after another, both of them with the same condition as their father. His hopes of breaking free from the poison's grip seemed to diminish with every new generation.

The desire to reach the Titled Douluo rank, something he had worked so hard for, grew more urgent with each passing day.

Every decision, every move he made, had been clouded by the thought of finding a way to break free from this cycle of poison and death.

Now, with the mention of the Jade Body Refinement Art, he felt a flicker of hope. A technique that could purify the body and make it immune to poisons—this could change everything. Could it be that this was the solution he had been desperately searching for? The thought of finally freeing his family from the grip of poison was almost too overwhelming to process. But as much as he longed to believe it, a part of him still hesitated, unsure if it was truly possible.

Noticing his grandfather's state, Dugu Chen quickly retrieved the book with the Jade Body Refinement Art and handed it to Dugu Bo, snapping him back to the moment.

"Here you go, Grandpa. Take a look at this," he said.

With bated breath, Dugu Bo took the book from Dugu Chen and began reading, his eyes scanning the words with growing intensity.

Meanwhile, Dugu Xin and Mo Ying exchanged a quiet look before stepping closer to him. One on either side of Dugu Bo, they too began reading the book, eager to understand the significance of what it contained.

As they all read in silence, the courtyard filled with an unspoken tension, each of them absorbed in the revelations within the pages.

It took the three of them about half an hour to read through the book, and as Dugu Bo turned the final page, they all let out a collective sigh of relief.

Dugu Bo closed the book gently, his mind racing with thoughts of the possibilities. Dugu Xin and Mo Ying, too, stood still for a moment, processing what they had just read.

Finally, Dugu Bo spoke, his voice steady but filled with awe. "This is... truly remarkable. If what this book says is correct, the Jade Body Refinement Art could be the answer we've been searching for."

He glanced at his son and daughter-in-law, then went back to Dugu Chen, his eyes full of newfound hope. "This would fix the one defect of Jade Phosphor Serpent Martial Soul that has haunted our family for generations."

Everyone nodded in agreement, and Dugu Bo, with a determined expression, said, "Alright then. We'll follow Chen'er's plan and dedicate the next six months solely to cultivating these techniques, while purposefully keeping our Soul Power levels suppressed."

"By the way, Xiao Chen," Dugu Xin asked, his curiosity piqued, "How did you come to learn about the poison problem that's been affecting the Dugu family for so long?"
