Cheat Million Love

Chapter 31: Ch.31 : The Mad Scientist Girl

Right after the chaos in Unity Club settled, Eliz and Raina walked up to Nic.

"Nic, can you come with us to the school lab? We need to test something," said Eliz.

Nic, curious as ever, nodded without hesitation. But when the others tried to tag along, Eliz raised her hand and firmly stopped them.

"Only Nic is coming. No exceptions."

Fanny immediately stood up with a scowl. "What?! Why just Nic? That's not fair!"

Raina, trying to calm things down, spoke gently, "Sorry, Fanny… It's just that the lab's a sensitive place. The person in there really hates crowds and can get overwhelmed."

Hearing that, the other girls reluctantly backed off.

"Fine, but don't take too long," Fanny grumbled, crossing her arms and sitting down with a pout.

---

As they walked, Nic asked, "So what exactly are we doing there?"

"I'm just tagging along," Eliz replied with folded arms. "Raina and I are besties now, so I'm here to help."

Raina, holding a small bottle, explained further, "I want to test this water from the school pool. I think something's off with it, so I need lab equipment to be sure."

Nic nodded, eyeing the bottle curiously.

When they reached the lab door, they found it locked with a heavy padlock.

"Huh? Why is it locked?" Raina tilted her head.

"Are they off today? But they're usually always open…"

Nic noticed a crumpled letter sticking out of a trash can nearby. He picked it up and read it. After skimming through it, he sighed and handed it over to the girls.

Raina's eyes widened. "What?! She's being removed next week? But she's always in the lab…"

She looked anxious, trying to think. "If the door's locked and she's not here… maybe she's on the rooftop!"

Before anyone could respond, Raina sprinted off. Nic and Eliz quickly ran after her.

---

Up on the rooftop, they found a girl standing near the fence, staring into the sky. She had short, dark green hair and was holding onto the railing quietly.

"Luna!" Raina called out.

The girl turned, smiling slightly at the sight of Raina, but then froze when she saw Nic and Eliz behind her.

"Luna, what are you doing here?" Raina asked cheerfully.

But Luna stepped back slightly. "Why did you bring others? You know I don't like crowds…"

Nic figured she was just a shy loner type who hated people. But suddenly, Luna's expression changed. Her eyes sparkled, cheeks flushed, and she broke into a wide smile.

"So many people… This makes me want to experiment!"

Her tone was oddly enthusiastic.

Turns out, everyone was wrong. Luna didn't hate crowds because she was shy—she avoided them because she couldn't resist the urge to experiment on them.

Before they could react, Luna pulled a syringe from her lab coat pocket.

"This is perfect! I just finished a new serum. I'm not sure what it does yet, but it should trigger extreme fear. Let's test it now!"

Her giggle was unsettling.

Eliz stepped back in panic. "She's insane! Raina, you didn't say the lab girl was like this!"

"I-It's fine! We can talk this through!" Raina said nervously, trying to calm her down.

But Luna grinned. "Raina, you think I wouldn't inject you too? Want to go first?"

Raina screamed and ran. "Sorry, Nic! I made a mistake!"

Nic and Eliz were frozen for a moment. Nic sighed. "This is totally out of hand."

Luna approached, swinging the syringe in her hand. Nic and Eliz began running around the rooftop, trying to escape her.

"Don't run! It's just a little experiment! You won't die!" Luna shouted with a creepy laugh.

Nic had enough. He activated his God of Illinois skill.

With a snap of his fingers, a new illusion appeared in front of Luna.

In it, Nic was transformed into a famous scientist in a glowing white lab coat, with a high-tech lab behind him.

"Luna," Nic said calmly, "you don't need to do reckless experiments. I'm here to mentor you and help you become a better scientist."

Luna was mesmerized. "You're a scientist too? Do you have advanced serums?"

"Of course. But you have to follow my rules. No experimenting on people. Ever."

Luna nodded, eyes wide with admiration. "Okay… but you'll let me collaborate with you later, right?"

Nic smiled. "Of course. But for now, calm down."

As the illusion faded, Luna blinked in confusion. "Where did the great scientist go?"

Eliz sighed in relief and lightly punched Nic's arm. "You really saved us. But seriously? You made yourself into a famous scientist? And she bought it…"

Nic chuckled. "Learned it from Lily. Not bad, huh?"

Raina returned, looking guilty. "Sorry… I didn't think she'd go that far. But she's not evil. She's just… enthusiastic."

Luna just giggled, still holding the syringe. "Don't worry, the next experiment will be much safer…"

Nic, Eliz, and Raina exchanged exhausted glances. Nic muttered, "If that's 'safe', I don't want to know what 'dangerous' looks like."

---

Luna's smile faded. She sat down on the floor, staring at the syringe in her hand with a sad expression.

Raina approached gently. "Luna, why are they kicking you out? You're smart and hardworking."

Luna sighed. "I'm not sure. I think… some people just don't like me. Maybe they reported me to the principal because of my experiments."

Nic stepped in. "Is it because your experiments are… kind of scary?"

Luna narrowed her eyes. "What's wrong with them? They're cool!"

Eliz tilted her head. "Okay, so… what experiments actually worked?"

Luna perked up. "Lots! My favorite is the potion that makes plants grow super fast!"

"That sounds totally normal," Nic said. "What's the problem?"

Luna went quiet. "Most of my other stuff doesn't work. Or it's… considered dangerous."

She pulled out a small, futuristic-looking pen from her pocket. "This one's called the Laser Pen!"

Everyone stared at it, confused.

Raina asked, "What does it do?"

With pride, Luna wrote something on a piece of paper—normal ink. But when she clicked the end of the pen, the writing ignited and burned the paper to ash.

"It shoots hot laser beams too," she added, pointing it at the wall and burning a mark into it.

Nic jumped back. "Luna! That's super dangerous!"

Luna just giggled. "Dangerous? Nah. It's fine. I don't get why people are so scared of my inventions."

Nic got serious. "That's probably why you're getting kicked out. Tools like that make people afraid to come to the lab."

Luna's face fell. "But if I stop experimenting… I'll be so bored. I'll lose my motivation."

Nic thought for a moment, then an idea came to him. "Hold on. I've got a plan. But I need help."

He left the rooftop and headed straight for the Unity Club to find Leona.

---

Nic found Leona in class waiting for break to end.

"Leona, I need your help," Nic said seriously.

Leona raised a brow. "What is it this time?"

"It's important. I need you to help convince the principal not to expel the lab girl."

Leona smirked. "You sure about this? I heard rumors she causes trouble. If anything goes wrong, you're the one they'll blame."

Nic smiled. "I know the risk. But she's talented. We just need to give her a proper space to work, away from others. You've got the connections."

Leona sighed and stood. "Alright. But this is *your* responsibility. If she causes chaos, you're dead meat."

---

Nic and Leona met with the principal. Nic explained his idea: Leona would ask her father to fund the construction of a private lab just for Luna, where she couldn't bother anyone else.

The principal hesitated, but Nic assured him. "She's a bit… unique, but she's talented. With the right guidance, she can change. I'll personally take responsibility."

Leona added, "My dad will pay for the whole thing. That way, nobody else has to worry about her in the school lab."

After some thought, the principal agreed, but with conditions: Luna must go a whole week without causing any trouble. If she does, she won't be expelled.

---

Back on the rooftop, Nic and Leona returned to Luna to share the good news.

Just then, Nic's system activated and displayed a message:

"Recruit Luna as a girlfriend. Her unique skills will be extremely valuable in the future."

Nic smiled slightly and replied in his mind, "I already saw her potential. She'll be a key part of this team."

He approached Luna. "Luna, from now on, I'll help you. But you have to promise—no more dangerous experiments on people."

Luna beamed. "Promise! But… if I ever need a test subject, you'll be first, right?"

Nic chuckled. "Hmm… sure."

Leona, Eliz, and Raina all shouted at once.

"Nic, are you crazy?!" Leona yelled.

Nic just grinned. "Sometimes you gotta be a little crazy to help someone."

Luna gazed at him with gratitude, and deep down, Nic was sure—Luna would become one of his strongest allies in the future.
