Chapter 32: Ch.32 : Unique Candy and a Second Date with Nia
After their meeting with the principal, Nic brought Luna to the Unity Club.
As soon as they arrived, Luna looked around, taking in the wide open space filled with sofas, desks, and cozy nooks.
"This is the Unity Club's special base," Leona explained. "It's still technically part of the school, but it's private property—mine."
Luna's eyes widened in awe. "Whoa… You're really rich, Leona. I'm seriously jealous," she muttered, still gazing around in admiration.
Nic cut in, "Until your lab is finished, you'll be staying here. But no weird experiments, okay? Don't do anything that could scare or hurt anyone."
Luna grinned and gave a mock salute. "Yes, sir!"
But the moment she stepped inside the room, she froze. Her eyes scanned the group of girls sitting and chatting inside. Everyone had stopped and was now staring at her.
On reflex, Luna pulled out a syringe from her lab coat pocket.
"Anyone interested in volunteering for a small experiment?" she asked with a sly smile.
Everyone panicked.
"Needle?! No way! I hate needles!" Yui screamed and immediately jumped from her seat, bolting into the corner of the room and curling up.
Jenny, on the other hand, looked excited. "Wait, I wanna try! Does it hurt?!"
Before Luna could get any closer, Nic swiftly moved in. He grabbed her ear, snatched the syringe from her hand, and held it up high.
"I'm confiscating this," he said firmly, placing it on a high shelf Luna couldn't reach.
Luna pouted. "So mean, Nic."
Eliz giggled and patted her shoulder. "Aww, can't scare us now, huh? Poor thing."
Luna sighed dramatically. "Fine, I give up. You guys win."
Nia, curious, approached her. "Hey Luna, do you have any other unique tools or gadgets? I've got this student council event coming up, and I need to bring something weird and cool."
Luna raised an eyebrow. "The student council president needs something weird? What for?"
Nia smiled. "It's not to use. Just to show off. If it's cool and unique enough, I'll get bonus points."
Luna thought for a second, then pulled a small packet from her lab coat. "Here... Three-flavor candy. Oh, and it's got a spicy kick too."
"Candy?" Olivia asked, confused.
Luna nodded. "Yeah, but it's no ordinary candy. When you suck on it, you'll cycle through four flavors: sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy. The taste changes every few seconds."
Everyone exchanged glances.
"Is it safe?" Vivi asked hesitantly.
Luna smirked and looked straight at Nic. "Why don't you try it first, Nic? As the leader, you should set the example."
Nic sighed. "Alright, I'll prove it's fine."
"Wait, Nic! Are you sure about this?!" Violet and Fanny shouted in unison.
Nic raised a hand to calm them, unwrapped the candy, popped it into his mouth, and began sucking on it.
At first, it was sweet. Then came the sour, followed by the bitter... and finally, the burning spicy kick. His expression changed with each flavor, and eventually he spat the candy out.
"It's safe… but the flavor rollercoaster is really unpleasant if you keep going."
That piqued everyone's interest. One by one, they tried it too, and the reactions were hilarious—some burst out laughing, some flinched in shock, and some spat it out just like Nic.
Suddenly, the mood shifted as they noticed Mika sitting quietly in the corner, chewing something with a serious face.
"Mika, what are you doing?" Lily asked suspiciously.
Mika swallowed and replied calmly, "It was good. I ate the whole thing."
Everyone gasped.
"What?! You actually ate the whole thing?!" they shouted in shock.
Mika just shrugged with a satisfied smile. "It's candy. Why waste it? I liked it."
Luna looked at Mika with glowing admiration. "Finally… someone who appreciates my experiments… How beautiful~"
Nic sighed and rubbed his face. "I have a feeling I'm gonna have a lot more headaches with you around, Luna."
---
The weekend arrived, and this time it was Nia's turn to go on a date with Nic.
At home, Nia stood in front of the mirror, struggling to pick an outfit. Nothing felt right, and her frustration only grew. Eventually, she called in her older brother for help.
The moment he stepped into her room, he was shocked. "You're going on a date? For real? Isn't the guy scared you'll get mad and kick him?"
Nia rolled her eyes. "Oh my god, Brother. He's a martial artist too, okay? And I'm not gonna kick my boyfriend," she said proudly.
Her brother just shook his head, grumbling. "Unfair. I don't even have a girlfriend, and here you are going on dates. Life is cruel."
Nia giggled but still asked for his opinion on her outfit. Unfortunately, none of his suggestions passed her standards. With time running out, she finally picked something she felt was "decent enough."
---
When she arrived at the park, Nic was already waiting.
The moment he saw her, he froze. Nia wore a short skirt and a cute top—very different from her usual tomboyish style.
"Wow… You look stunning today," Nic said sincerely.
Nia's face flushed. "Ugh, don't be so cheesy," she mumbled, flustered. "Let's just go."
Their first stop was a seafood restaurant by the beach. Nia's eyes lit up—she was a huge seafood lover.
Before they ordered, she said, "I'll pay for myself, okay? I eat a lot, and I don't want you to go broke just feeding me."
Nic smiled and gently patted her head. "Don't worry. It's my treat. Order as much as you want."
Nia narrowed her eyes playfully. "You sure? Don't regret saying that," she laughed.
"Eat to your heart's content," Nic replied.
They ate until they were full. Nia was clearly in her element, enjoying every bite, and Nic couldn't stop praising the food.
"This is amazing. Now I get why you love seafood here."
"Told you! This place never disappoints," Nia said with a big grin.
---
After eating, they walked to the nearby beach. The sun was bright, but the ocean breeze kept things comfortable.
Nia stood at the edge, watching the waves crash gently onto the shore.
Nic walked up beside her. "What's on your mind?"
"Nothing really… Just remembering stuff," she replied softly.
Without saying a word, Nic hugged her from behind. "We're here to have fun. Don't be sad, okay?"
Nia smiled faintly and nodded.
They spent the whole day at the beach—splashing in the water, playing volleyball, building sandcastles, and snapping photos together.
As the sun began to set, they sat on the rocks, watching the beautiful orange glow stretch across the calm sea.
"Are you happy?" Nic asked as he looked at the sky.
"Very. I thought this relationship might be awkward at first… but it's way better than I imagined."
Nic turned to her, speaking sincerely, "I'll make sure everyone stays happy. I won't let any of you feel hurt because of me." He paused. "Basically… I just want to say sorry, and thank you for being part of my life."
Nia didn't say anything. She just smiled and stared at him for a moment.
Then, she closed her eyes—clearly giving him a sign.
But instead of kissing her lips, Nic kissed her forehead and grinned mischievously. "Not yet, okay? Hehe."
Nia's face turned crimson. "You're the worst!" she said, smacking his arm lightly. But deep down, she felt happier than ever.
That day ended with Nia's radiant smile.
To be continued…
