Chronicles of the Time Machine: Unveiling of the Forgotten era (COTM)

Chapter 9: Gens' plan

Gens Sheyan had made a new life goal: to reverse time in order to halt the development of robots and AI. However, this seemed far too naïve and impulsive. Fesly objected, saying that such a plan was completely irrational and impossible to achieve. Yet Gens remained firm in his resolve, like an unshakable pillar standing strong against the storm.

"Gens? Are you serious about that? You're not drunk or delusional, right?"

Fesly asked, trying to stop him from doing something foolish.

"I'm serious, Fes... Remember, we live in an era where 'impossible' doesn't exist if we have a strong enough will,"

Gens replied confidently.

"Haa... Come on. Big ambition and determination are great... but for this? Are you really sure? Think about it—if you succeed, it would be amazing, and perhaps even supported by some people, though probably just a few. Look at the current situation—our country is obsessed with the convenience of AI and robots. Plus, even if it works, what about you? Have you thought about the risks to yourself? And how would you even make something like that? Hahaha..."

Fesly explained, genuinely concerned.

"You mentioned AI and robots being so capable, right? Well, for the production process and labor... of course I'll use them,"

Gens replied, full of conviction.

"Y-you're going to use AI... to destroy AI? That's pretty crazy, honestly haha..."

Fesly said with a mocking tone.

"Fine then, I'll start now. Okay, AI—give me detailed, realistic, complete instructions on building a time machine that can move time forward and backward,"

Gens ordered the AI embedded in his home system.

"Y-you were serious after all? You're insane,"

Fesly exclaimed, having thought Gens was just talking nonsense.

The AI responded that Gens must first form a group. Initially, Gens didn't trust this answer, recalling how once, after returning from school, his AI gave bizarre and unclear responses. Eventually, he reset the AI to factory settings and asked the same question—and surprisingly, received the same answer. Gens started to believe it.

"Ah... what is this? But... now that I've heard this again, I might actually believe it,"

Gens muttered while listening to the AI.

Fesly could only remain silent, helplessly watching Gens, as if he were a pig that couldn't even glance sideways.

"If I form a group... is there a next step?"

Gens asked the AI.

It replied that once a group was formed, it would reveal the next phase—but only once it had proof of Gens' seriousness. Gens agreed and planned to start by researching the surrounding society to find those who opposed robots and AI, so he could invite them to join his group.

Additional Information

Gens Sheyan, Fesly Okaza, and their friends live in an age where almost everything is handled by AI robots—even small tasks like cooking, gathering ingredients, gardening, harvesting, and more. The AI in Xenonida can only perform positive actions. If given a harmful command (e.g., to kill), they will reject the order and report it via AI network to the geniuses—their creators. Once reported, the offender is immediately arrested and erased from existence. However, geniuses are exceptions—they can issue any commands, positive or negative, and the AI will obey.

"G-Gens?... Sorry to be rude... but it's bedtime now... is there a spare bed?"

Fesly asked sleepily.

"Of course! Sleep in my bed—it's over there!"

Gens replied, pointing at his room.

"Huh? Y-you're not joking, are you?"

Fesly asked.

"Fine, let's just sleep toge—"

Gens started, but Fesly cut him off angrily, asking if he was insane.

"Would you rather sleep in my father's room, Fes?"

Gens asked seriously.

Fesly silently nodded in agreement, unwilling to sleep in the room of Gens' father—since it was her own father who had killed him by turning him into serum.

As the night grew darker, Gens became more nervous about his plan for the next morning. He still couldn't fully believe what had happened earlier that day. Yet strangely, despite the pain that felt like cactus thorns piercing his body, he remained clear-headed and calm—even if his physical condition said otherwise.

Morning Came

"Huh... it's already morning. Hello, Fes... good morning!"

Gens said cheerfully as he barged into his own room without knocking.

Fesly was startled and scolded him for entering without permission. She reminded him that even if it was his room, he should knock first, especially with a young woman inside.

"Ahahaha... sorry, Fes, I forgot... okay, first things first—Fesly Okaza! Will you be my first member... in my mission to stop the development of robots and AI?"

Gens asked sincerely on a crisp, cold morning.
