Chapter 15: The mistake
As the runic sequences lit up in a bright violet colour Cades body was put under an unimaginable pressure, and within a single instance he was within the warp line on which he would need to travel.
He could see thousands of colours, many of which he had never even known before, and some of which were simply unimaginable to him prior to this experience.
At that very same instance he realized something.
Cades was travelling to a different dimension, he must have made an mistake in activating the warp system, or maybe it was originally supposed to travel to a different dimension, but that second one was much less likely.
He could hear countless screams resounding from all sides, the screams had no source, none but Cades mouth, he who was screaming due to the pressure was screaming, and all those screams were resounding in the interdimensional vacuum called forth by his own screams.
His body was quite literally being ripped apart in the eternal vacuum between dimensions.
He wasn't even able to breathe.
And not even his eyes seemed to function completely as he saw thinks that were completely impossible.
He had no idea where he would end up, but he knew that he probably wouldn't be able to end up there with his entire body intact.
Cades could feel the pain as one of his wings, the left one, was ripped off, but to him that pain was only a secondary problem right now.
And then, without warning, he violently crashed into another forest and felt his arm, which he had used to try and protect his face, bear the impact of the crash.
He laid there for a bit, not moving, and finally began realizing that he was still alive.
The ground had been pushed aside, so he was laying in a crater, and while he was laying there, his body slowly began to heal, as was normal with such powerful beings as he was now, he began laughing maniacally.
Each laugh of his sent out a wave of power and made the birds in the vicinity fly away, each laugh of his a testimony to how he survived through what was basically hell, each laugh a testimony to just how much he had gained.
And yet, he wasn't in any better circumstance than he was before.
He was still wounded.
He was still in a forest, all be it a much smaller and much younger one.
He still had nothing, except for his blade, his ring and his tools.
But, there was a real chance that there was sentient live here, wherever he was now.
Cades slowly stood up while still laughing and began looking around.
The forest he was in resembled a normal forest, neither ancient nor dark.
He could see birds flying around, he could feel the wind on his skin and he could feel the warm sun on that very same wounded skin.
The ground was covered in fallen leaves that rustled loudly as he began walking through them, there were no animals nearby, aside from the birds that had already left.
Cades had no clue where he was but he knew that he had to go, if there were powerful monsters here they would've been attracted by his laughter and already be on their way.
His body was already almost healed because of his inner mana as he went on and started walking.
He walked for hours without seeing anything, all the life seemed to try and avoid him because of the bloody smell and presence emanating from him.
After he had walked for a few more hours he decided that there wouldn't be any danger, even if he were to fly.
So, he began flying upwards to make himself a picture of what was surrounding him.
He saw an endless forest of green and there, far away he could see a small, seemingly ancient castle made of stone.
After finding out about said castle Cades began flowing there to find out more about where exactly he was.
The closer he came to the castle, the clearer he could see that it had completely broken down, seemingly it was truly ancient.
The once imposing castle was now not much more than a pile of rocks, but its foundational structure still stood.
Cades landed in front of the once majestic entrance gates, now conquered by nature once more, its once beautiful columns now having collapsed into themselves.
When he pushed the formerly beautiful iron doors open, now covered in ancient red rust, a gust of cold wind came out and covered him in goosebumps.
As he finally entered the ancient walls he could feel the history of the castle.
While Cades was looking around he found a wall on which a singular dark brown, wooden door was located, the door lead downwards in a spiral staircase and as Cade took it he arrived in front of an even more ancient door made of massive, dark stone guarded by two great statues of ancient knights.
The knights were wearing white armor that almost seemed seamless on the body of the massive stone warriors, each of them almost 17 feet tall, all guarding a single door that was about 22 feet tall.
As Cades walked up to the door he could sense that the ancient statues were exuding mana.
Instead of entering the room beyond the door Cades walked up to one of the humongous statues and put his hand onto the ancient stone.
Cades closed his eyes and tried to see how these statues were enchanted.
The engravings on these statues were incredibly complex.
He could sense that the engraving would allow it to move, but he didn't know about much more.
Undisturbed Cades knew that the stone was old and about to fall apart, there was no enchantment made by a mortal being, that could ever last for such a long time and still be strong enough to fight against a being of the tenth sequence.
Then, Cades left the stone statues behind and finally pushed the massive door open.
