"Chong!"

Alex Carter's figure flashed past the battle robot.

His sharp blade sliced through the robot's head in an instant.

"Boom!"

An explosion echoed behind him.

By the time the defensive forces around the AV reacted, Alex was already upon his next target.

"Shh!"

Another enemy was cut down in an instant!

"Enemy attack!"

"Spread out and concentrate your firepower!"

"Da da da..."

"Blah, blah..."

The Kang Tao armed forces, finally recovering, launched a fierce counterattack against Alex.

Facing such intense firepower, Alex, who was charging forward, found himself grumbling.

Even though he tried his best to evade, the smart bullets arced in pursuit, drawing blood as they struck him.

Damn.

Everyone's using smart guns!

Feeling the persistent pain from all over his body, Alex's mind was more focused than ever.

[Prosthetic Assimilation] activated subconsciously.

His body was damaged.

The Blacklight Virus worked to repair it.

The gleam of his blade flashed rapidly across the battlefield.

The AV's turret forced Alex to keep moving!

"Bang!"

Another shot.

A bullet slipped past his defenses, heading straight for Alex's head.

"Damn!"

"Thud..."

Blood and bone fragments sprayed out.

Even though Alex tried his best to dodge, the bullet tore through the right side of his face.

Even his right eye was completely blinded.

For a moment, he looked like a demon from hell, and his life was hanging by a thread.

In the next instant, the world in Alex's eyes suddenly went quiet.

The trajectory of the bullet.

The fierce faces of his enemies.

The splash of earth and debris.

It seemed as though the entire world had slowed down.

The only thing moving freely was Alex's consciousness.

The Reaction Tuner was activated!

"I should disrupt their line of sight by moving quickly, then rely on the Blacklight Virus for rapid absorption."

"Camouflage while recovering from injuries."

"Once the turret is down, I'll clear the area."

Alex's mind became clearer than ever.

In an instant, he formulated the most logical plan for the situation.

This level of clarity and speed surpassed his normal abilities, or those of any ordinary person.

Clearly, this was one of the functions of the Reaction Tuner...

Soon, the flow of time in his perception returned to normal.

Ignoring the throbbing pain in his head, Alex pushed his body to its limits, darting across the battlefield.

"Damn, I can't see him!"

"Shit, he just passed behind you!"

"No, he's over there!"

"Where did he go?"

As everyone on the battlefield became increasingly disoriented, Alex's ghostly figure suddenly appeared behind an armed man.

At that moment, he and his comrade were scanning in the wrong direction.

"Click."

"Gulp..."

The soft sound made the comrade turn his head suddenly.

"What was that?"

"Didn't you hear something?"

"No, I didn't hear anything. Keep looking for him!"

"Okay."

But at the moment the comrade turned his head, "he" suddenly rushed over.

"Gulp..."

The black-red tendrils retracted into his body.

Alex, now mimicking a Kang Tao defender, exhaled in relief.

As much as he didn't want to admit it...

After absorbing two people, his physical condition improved significantly.

Even the hunger from high-intensity exertion vanished.

The Blacklight Virus was truly indispensable for stealth and assassination.

"Hmm, so that's how you disable the turret."

After sorting through the memories he'd absorbed, Alex kicked away the prosthetic bodies the virus had expelled and approached the turret's control panel.

"Beep...beep."

After a series of commands, plus biometrics for identity verification, the AV's turret finally powered down.

With the biggest threat neutralized, Alex grinned, ready to unleash his wrath once more!

...

After receiving a signal from Alex, Panam hurried over.

Surveying the wreckage and charred ground, Panam stood in shock.

Due to the AV's obstruction and the uneven terrain, she hadn't been able to see the battlefield clearly.

Only now did she realize how intense the battle had been.

"Oh my God, Alex, how... how did you do this?"

She looked at Alex, standing with his blade at the ready, full of disbelief.

If Alex had a military-grade prosthetic body and a cache of advanced weapons, his achievements would be understandable.

But with just a steel blade...

Panam couldn't fathom the extent of Alex's strength!

Alex squatted down, wiped the blood off his blade, and chuckled:

"It's not as tough as you think. I'll explain later. Let's check on Hellman first."

With that, he approached the AV, gave Panam a nod, and slowly opened the door.

"Click..."

The door swung open, followed by a barrage of gunfire.

"Ratatatat..."

"Ratatatat..."

Quick as a flash, Alex pulled Panam away from the torrent of bullets.

"Damn, it's the Defender machine gun!"

Panam frowned, frustrated.

They couldn't get in, and those inside couldn't come out, leaving them in a standoff.

If they delayed too long and Kang Tao reinforcements arrived, it would be over!

However, Alex remained calm.

Glancing around, he removed a palm-sized spherical environmental sensor from a nearby robot.

Panam looked at Alex, puzzled. "What are you doing?"

Alex smiled.

"Watch and learn."

With that, he raised his hand and tossed the spherical device into the AV.

"Grenade!"
