Cyberpunk: Mysteries World

Chapter 8: 8

Although John Smith ran for his life, he was still much slower than the dog and was soon caught up. Just looking at the dog's posture, he didn't think he could win.

Seeing the dog getting closer and closer, he couldn't find a way to get rid of it. Fortunately, he saw a corner in front of him. He remembered that place was a very narrow passage, but it was a dead end.

But now the dog was about to bite him, so he had to turn in suddenly, leaving the dog empty-handed, and now he had no way to retreat.

But even so, he didn't want to sit there and wait for death, so he ran desperately to the end of the narrow passage. The dog followed closely, growling madly.

However, this passage was very short, and John soon reached the end. He turned around abruptly and looked at the dog, while holding the sword tightly in both hands, preparing for the final fight with the dog.

When the dog saw that he had no way to escape, it did not rush to attack. Instead, it stopped and slowly approached him while barking, as if it was performing a psychological tactic.

He could only keep backing away, but soon his back was against the wall. Now he had no way to retreat. Just when he was about to fight desperately, the wall he was leaning against suddenly flipped over and took him over.

John immediately rolled to the ground, but he did not dare to slack off and immediately got up from the ground. Sure enough, the dog also jumped out from the other side of the wall.

The wall rotated and returned to its original shape, and it looked as if there was no road there at all.

He did not bother to observe his surroundings, but rushed to the side, narrowly avoiding the dog's attack. But just as he was about to turn around and stab the dog that was pouncing at him again, his body suddenly felt empty, and he fell straight down.

The dog hurriedly braked and did not fall into the trap. Instead, it stood on the trap and looked at him, barking wildly.

After seeing what was below, John twisted his body desperately, trying to avoid the sharp thorns, but he was almost stabbed to death.

There were already several corpses in this trap, and they all looked like human corpses. These were the predecessors who once died heroically.

He carefully avoided the spikes and looked up. Although the dog had stopped barking, it was still looking down as if it was mocking him.

John knew that the dog was not mocking him but was waiting for him to go up so it could eat him, which made him give up the idea of going up immediately.

Carefully avoiding the sharp spikes, he began to search among the relics of his predecessors and soon found what he needed in a backpack.

It was a pickaxe, and although the trap was at least three or four meters high, he felt he could use it to climb out if the dog wasn't outside.

The dog looked at John for a while, then turned and left, but he did not climb up immediately. Instead, he waited quietly.

After a while, the dog appeared again. It seemed that it did not really leave but pretended to leave in order to trick him to come up.

Fortunately, he was smarter than the dog and did not go up immediately, so he did not fall into the trap and become dog food. It seems that there are also smart monsters in the dungeon.

The dog stared at him for a while and then left again. John secretly calculated, but this time it took a long time for the dog to appear again.

It seemed that the dog was not observing him regularly but was trying to prolong its presence so that he would think that the dog had really left. However, he was not fooled. At this moment, he wished that he still had a grenade in his hand.

The man and the dog started a standoff. John refused to go out, and the dog didn't leave either. It waited patiently for the food to come up.

At first, the dog would deliberately prolong the time and pretend to leave, but later when it realized that he just wouldn't come out, it started to come over to take a look at him at fixed intervals.

After calculating the time, John picked up the bow and arrow behind him, drew the bow before the dog appeared, and whispered, "Strengthen the weapon."

Just as he finished speaking, the dog's head appeared, and the next moment the arrow pierced the dog's head with incredible speed.

After a scream, the dog struggled on the ground and became silent after a moment. However, John did not climb up immediately. Instead, he waited quietly for a long time before he started to climb up by digging a hole with a pickaxe.

When he finally climbed out of the trap, he stared at the dog for a while, and after making sure that it had no breathing and heartbeat, he went forward to pull out the arrow.

But just as he stretched out his hand, the dog suddenly jumped up and bit his right hand. The extremely severe pain instantly spread to his mind.

At this moment, the pain from being bitten and the pain from being burned mixed together, making him feel as if half of his arm was no longer his own. He was sweating profusely from the pain.

At this extremely dangerous moment, he remained conscious and did not faint from the pain. He instinctively grabbed the axe with his left hand and chopped hard at the dog's head.

One axe, two axes... he chopped the dog's head one after another, and the dog bit and tore his arms frantically. He even felt that his arms would be torn off at the next moment.

But gradually the dog's biting strength decreased, and then it stopped biting. John then realized that he had split the dog's head in half at some point, and the dog was dead beyond dead.

He pulled his arm out of the dog's mouth with force, but he didn't feel as much pain. But when he looked over, he realized what had happened.

Because half of his arm had turned pitch black and looked blurred, it could be concluded that this arm no longer belonged to him. He also really couldn't feel the existence of his right arm, but there was pain near the shoulder.

The grief-stricken John raised the axe and chopped at the dog again. When the dog was chopped to pieces, he collapsed to the ground powerlessly.

No matter how hard he chopped the dog, his arm would never recover. But he was unwilling to give up. He had just arrived in the dungeon and he had already lost an arm. How could he reach the end of the dungeon?

At this moment, he remembered that when he was in the pool, he ate fish and drank the pool water, and the wound on his leg miraculously disappeared.

Would it be possible to recover by eating the dog's meat? Thinking of this, he seemed to have grasped a glimmer of hope and hurriedly grabbed the chopped dog meat, stuffed it into his mouth, and swallowed it without chewing it.

But after he took a few bites, he felt his face getting hot again, the same feeling as when he ate the fish. Only then did he realize that he had eaten too hastily. He should have taken the dog to the pond before eating.

He hurriedly got up and wanted to go back along the same route, but suddenly found that this place looked familiar. Then he discovered that behind the secret door was actually a passage near the pool.

This gave him an unexpected surprise, and he hurriedly ran towards the direction of the pool in his memory. However, after running a few steps, he felt his face getting hotter and hotter, and his consciousness became a little dazed, and everything seemed unreal to him.

The surrounding walls began to rise, as if they had turned into towering mountains, and dancing little people appeared on the ground again, and they all looked very happy.

The souls in the air also appeared, stretching out countless tentacles. John waved his left hand vigorously, trying to open these tentacles.

But after the tentacles were knocked aside, they stretched out again. He picked up the axe and swung it, then strode forward.

At the same time, skeletons, zombies, ghosts, and even many vicious dogs and vines appeared in the passage out of thin air one after another.

They blocked John's way, preventing him from moving forward. This situation made him seem doomed to die. There was no way he could defeat so many monsters, not to mention that he only had one arm left.

But in this situation where he was doomed to die, he became hysterical, as if he had overcome all the fear in his heart, and he roared wildly at these monsters.

"You can't stop me! Even if I lose my right hand, I still have my left hand!"

He roared, grabbed the axe, and rushed towards the monsters without hesitation.
