Chapter 4: Joining a family.
Kopii decided to dedicate himself to training, striving to fully unlock the potential dormant within him. A month had passed since fate unexpectedly cast him into the mysterious and unusual Orario. All this time, he had been eagerly absorbing various knowledge contained in the dusty volumes of the orphanage library, which held not only facts, but also secrets. Although this information did not become the key to instant success, it still allowed him to touch the exciting history of the city, where the glory of the famous Zeus Familia once thundered, known for every step they took. Now, the lead belonged to the ambitious Loki and Freya Familias, to which he, a mere mortal, seemed to be forever forbidden. The library did not hold any more bright and unexpected revelations about the gods, no matter how much he hoped.
Kopii understood: it was time to act, to leave the quiet and cozy walls of the orphanage and acquire a falna – a sacred divine blessing, without which his abilities would remain shackled, and the path to the top would be closed and inaccessible. He carefully and attentively planned his exit, studying the map of the city and identifying the places where members of various famous Familias could most often be found.
Attracting the attention of the gods seemed like an absolutely impossible and incredible task. Competition for recruits in Orario was fierce and uncompromising, especially for such a modest young man as him, whose talents were not striking and did not stand out among the rest. Therefore, Kopii decided to make a bold bet on his persistence and willingness to work hard and tirelessly. He was determined to prove his worth and earn a legitimate place under the banner of one of the Familias, no matter how difficult it seemed.
But, alas, all his attempts were futile and unsuccessful. Every god he turned to with a plea to join their Familia answered with a refusal that pierced his heart. After several days of wandering around the city, he accidentally stumbled upon the modest "Cyan Pharmacy." He had heard not very good news about this Familia, but Kopii didn't care about all that anymore, because he had no other options left, and he decided to try his luck there. Crossing the threshold, he found himself among shelves lined with colorful potions, as if in a fairy tale. Behind the counter stood a girl with long chestnut hair, piercing violet eyes, dog ears, and a fluffy tail playfully swaying from under her skirt. Her outfit was very unusual and stood out from the rest: an asymmetrical shirt with a short left sleeve and a long right one, covering the entire arm, was complemented by a stylish glove.
"Hello," Kopii said timidly, trying to speak confidently.
"Hello," the girl replied, giving him an assessing and insightful look, as if trying to look into his soul.
"Can I join your Familia?" he asked, overcoming inner doubts.
"It's not up to me, but Master Miach decides," she replied with a slight smile.
"Where can I find him?" Kopii asked, feeling hope growing inside him.
"He's on the second floor," she said, pointing to the stairs.
"Can I go?" he clarified, trying not to betray his nervousness.
"Yes, of course," she replied, and there was sincerity in her voice.
"Thank you," Kopii said with a grateful smile.
Kopii climbed the stairs, feeling her attentive gaze linger on him, as if unable to tear himself away. Once on the second floor, he knocked on the door of the room where he believed the god Miach resided. Entering, he saw a man with long dark blue hair and the same dark blue eyes, full of deep thoughts. He wore a black robe, a brownish-brown stole falling below his shoulders, and simple brown shoes, from which a light smell of adventures arose. Kopii had heard that Miach was a kind, sympathetic, and friendly god. He bowed and greeted him politely.
"Hello, Master Miach. Can I join your Familia?" he said, trying to speak with respect and hope.
The Miach Familia was once a mid-ranking Familia, but everything changed catastrophically after Naaza suffered serious injuries during an unpredictable accident in the Dungeon. Almost all the members left the Familia after Miach owed a huge sum to the Dian Familia for a prosthetic arm for Naaza. Kopii learned this terrible information in advance, as if from cautionary rumors. He guessed that the girl downstairs was Naaza, because he hadn't seen anyone else in the pharmacy, and this realization deeply struck him.
Miach gave Kopii a studying look. His dark blue eyes read not surprise, but rather, fatigue and resignation. He slowly nodded, inviting him in with a slight gesture of his hand. "Hello, young man. It is not often that I am approached with a request like yours. What is your name and what brought you to my humble abode?" Miach asked in a soft voice, in which there was sadness, as if he shared his burden with him.
Kopii, slightly nervous, introduced himself and briefly told about his desire to become an adventurer and his unsuccessful attempts to join other Familias. He emphasized his willingness to work hard and learn, hoping that this could compensate for his modest, not too outstanding abilities.
Miach listened attentively, not interrupting for a moment. When Kopii finished, he sighed and said, as if reflecting: "I appreciate your aspiration and honesty, young man. However, the Miach Familia is not going through the best of times right now. As you may know, most of my members have left me. Only Naaza remains. Maintaining the Familia is becoming increasingly difficult, almost impossible."
Miach fell silent, as if considering something very important. Then, looking Kopii straight in the eyes, he said: "I am ready to accept you into my Familia. But you must know, it will not be easy. I cannot offer you luxury and wealth, like other Familias. You will have to work hard to provide for yourself and help us survive. Are you ready for this difficult challenge?"
"Yes, Master Miach!" Kopii exclaimed, and Miach's face brightened with sincere joy.
"I am glad for that. Let me introduce you to my small but friendly Familia. However, you already know that there is only one person in my Familia – Naaza. You have already seen her when you came in. Oh yes, I almost forgot! It's time to bestow upon you my blessing, which is so important. Take off your outerwear and sit on the chair."
Without hesitation, Kopii took off his worn-out jacket and T-shirt, which looked worn, and sat on the chair, turning his back to Miach, experiencing a storm of feelings. Miach pricked himself with a needle and began to draw something on his skin, and Kopii could not help but feel the significance of this moment, which might change his life forever.
"All done. Your characteristics are pretty good for a beginner, but I've never seen a skill like this before. Its description says: 'You can be whoever you want, but not yourself.' Well, let's not guess and waste time. Look at your characteristics that everyone has been talking so much about."
Miach took a piece of paper, carefully placed it on Kopii's back, and then handed it to him, as if it was something incredible. Kopii saw for the first time what he was capable of, and his face lit up with surprise. He didn't understand whether it was a lot or a little, but Miach said that it was good for a beginner, and that instilled hope in him.

"Master Miach, can I become an adventurer now?" Kopii asked, expressing his sincere hope. Miach's face suddenly became serious, as if he was thinking about something important.
"Kopii, yes, now you can become one, but it's dangerous. But if you really want it, I can't stop you." With these words, Miach put his hand on Kopii's shoulder in a sign of support and added: "Just be careful, even if it's only the first floor. Okay, Kopii?"
"Okay, Master Miach. I will be careful, even on the first floor. I will never relax," Kopii assured, and at that moment Miach became the same again, as if a burden of worries had been dropped.
Miach smiled, hearing the determination in Kopii's voice. "That's good, young man. Your determination is a truly valuable quality. Naaza will help you settle into our supportive Familia and tell you about the specifics of working in the pharmacy, which can be quite interesting. Remember, our Familia may be modest, but we always support each other, like true like-minded people."
Kopii thanked Miach for the trust, imbued with warmth, and went downstairs to meet Naaza, who was waiting for him with curiosity. The girl looked at him with interest, waiting for explanations. "Naaza, Kopii is now a member of our Familia," Miach announced, appearing after him. "Help him settle in and tell him about his responsibilities so that he can feel comfortable."
Naaza nodded, and, slightly embarrassed, introduced herself to Kopii, giving him her kind smile. She explained to him that most of the time he would be helping in the pharmacy, cleaning, arranging goods, and helping customers, who were usually very interesting. He would also participate in collecting ingredients for potions in the vicinity of Orario, which sounded like a real adventure. Naaza emphasized that the work would not always be easy and simple, but she would try to help him in everything she could.
Kopii eagerly took to the work. He learned quickly, trying to memorize the names of all the potions and herbs he would use, and with each new name, his confidence grew. Naaza was a patient mentor, explaining to him in detail the intricacies of the apothecary business, as if passing on important secrets to him. Kopii felt that he had finally found his place in this world. He was grateful to Miach and Naaza for giving him a chance, and he was determined to live up to their expectations of him. He understood that the path of an adventurer would be difficult, full of challenges, but with the support of the Miach Familia, he believed that he could succeed.
An hour later, filled with new knowledge, he went out onto the street, where the sun was high in the sky, and the world around him was filled with vibrant colors. He decided to thank Maria for taking him in and giving him the opportunity to start a new life. Without wasting time, he headed to Daedalus Street, to his native orphanage, where he had warm memories. After a few hours, he reached the place and went inside, slightly embarrassed to meet Maria, but deciding to express his gratitude anyway.
"Ms. Maria, wait! I want to thank you for taking me in, even though I wasn't here for very long. I will always remember your kindness and help. Thank you for everything!" Kopii said with sincere feeling in his voice, feeling gratitude building up inside him.
Maria smiled and, looking him in the eyes, said: "Good luck to you, Kopii. Be careful and don't forget about our little orphanage."
"Thank you again! I'll go say goodbye to everyone and be sure to brag to Rai that I'm going to be an adventurer soon. He's already ten years old, a big boy, and I'm sure he'll be proud that I'm firmly moving towards my goal."
"Goodbye! And good luck to everyone!" I shouted, waving my hand with joy, and, anticipating a soon adventure, happily ran towards fate, full of new opportunities and exciting events.
