Chapter 5: The Miyaha family.
Darkness enveloped the city after my return from the orphanage. Miach, meeting me at the doorstep, asked worriedly where I had been. I told him everything that had happened during the day, and with bated breath, I asked:
"Where will I be sleeping?"
"In your room," Miach replied softly. "Come, I'll show you."
We climbed the creaky stairs to the second floor, and he led me to a door. The room, although it seemed a bit neglected, was tidy. It contained a lone wardrobe, a simple bed, and an old desk in the corner. But I liked it immediately – my room.
"This is my room?" I asked timidly, as if afraid it was a dream.
"Yes, Kopii, yours," Miach confirmed with a smile.
Later, I lay on the bed, sinking into the softness of the old mattress. It gently enveloped my body, lulling me to sleep after such a busy day. In my head, like fragments of dreams, images flashed: the orphanage, Miach, the new room… Suddenly, a cool breeze blew in through the open window, pleasantly touching my face. The curtains swayed easily, as if inviting me into a world of dreams. I felt at peace, as if I had returned home after a long journey.
"A new day - a new beginning," I whispered into the silence.
Getting out of bed, I did a light warm-up and left "Cyan Pharmacy". The early morning greeted me with freshness. Taking a deep breath, I felt the air fill my lungs, chasing away the remnants of sleep. The coolness slightly tingled my skin, giving me vigor. I ran through the familiar streets, looking at the passers-by. Life around was bustling, promising new encounters and opportunities. Ahead lay an unknown day, full of hopes and surprises.
The sun slowly emerged from behind the horizon, painting the sky in delicate watercolor shades of pink and orange. I felt a surge of strength and energy. Quickening my pace, I enjoyed the morning coolness and the chirping of birds. The world around seemed new and fresh, as if reborn. The sound of footsteps on the pavement merged with the rustling of leaves on the trees, creating a peaceful melody.
Returning home after my run, I found Naaza in the kitchen, bustling over breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm bread pleasantly tickled my nose. I happily joined Miach and Naaza, sharing my impressions of the morning run. At the table, there was an atmosphere of warmth and comfort, as only happens in the circle of the closest people.
After breakfast, I decided to clean my room. I sorted things out, neatly folding them into the wardrobe. I wiped the dust from the table and windowsill, washed the floor. The room was transformed, filled with cleanliness and comfort. I felt like a true master of this space, creating my own world. Each item found its place, and the air was filled with the scent of freshness.
Then I started helping Naaza in the pharmacy. I decided not to rush to the guild, understanding the dangers of the dungeons. Several days passed, and our relationship strengthened. I began to understand Naaza and the reasons for her grumbling at Miach. Miach, as beautiful as all gods, was too friendly to women, often giving them potions for free. Because of this, it was difficult to repay the debt for Naaza's arm. "Well, I won't interfere in the affairs of a god," I thought.
Sitting on the bed, I pondered the upcoming day. The guild, the dungeons, adventures - all this beckoned me, but the feeling of caution that had settled in me after talking to Naaza did not give me peace. I decided to dedicate the day to studying the surroundings of the city, to better orient myself and, perhaps, find useful information.
Going out into the street, I nodded hello to Naaza, busy with her own affairs. The city lived its usual life: merchants called out to customers, children played on the pavement, and street musicians entertained passers-by. Everywhere there was hustle and bustle, creating a unique atmosphere. I wandered through the narrow streets, peeking into shops and listening to conversations. I learned about the nearby villages, about trade routes, and about the rumors circulating about the dungeons.
In the evening, returning home, I shared my observations with Naaza. She listened attentively, sometimes adding her own comments and explanations. The conversation lasted late into the night, and I felt that our connection was becoming even stronger. I was beginning to understand that Naaza was not just my companion, but a true friend, ready to support and help in any situation. In the soft candlelight reflected in her eyes, I saw sincere care and understanding.
I must help my new family at any cost.
And so two weeks passed in the Miach Familia. My days were similar to one another: I woke up, trained, and helped Naaza in the pharmacy. After Naaza's story, I decided to postpone the date when I would become an adventurer and find more information about the dungeons. I began to understand Naaza and Miach better. Naaza has a perpetually sleepy voice and a tired expression on her face. She is an intelligent person, capable of using the weaknesses of others to her advantage and creating new high-quality potions.
She felt guilty about the huge debt that her prosthetic placed on Miach, and about abandoning the other Familia members, which ultimately turned them into a poor Familia.
Over time, I noticed that Naaza had romantic feelings for Miach. I saw her jealous of him with other girls.
I asked Naaza what weapon I should choose, and we settled on a short sword. I also learned that Naaza is Level 3. I wanted to fight her, but she defeated me with one blow. She is not even a fighter, but an archer. At first, I was offended, but then I resigned myself to my weakness.
I gradually integrated into their life, feeling like a part of this small but warm Familia. Miach, clumsy but kind, always ready to help, and Naaza, hiding a vulnerable soul under a mask of cynicism. I liked watching their interaction, how Naaza subtly takes care of Miach, trying to make his life at least a little easier. There was an atmosphere of understanding and support in the air.
The decision to postpone becoming an adventurer seemed right. I understood that for successful exploration of the dungeons, I needed not only strength and agility, but also knowledge. I eagerly devoured information from old books and scrolls that Naaza gave me, studying combat tactics, types of monsters, and traps that could lie in wait for an adventurer. The pages of the old books smelled of dust and time, but they contained answers to many questions.
Training with the short sword was in full swing. Naaza gave me some valuable advice on how to hold the weapon correctly, how to move and strike. Despite her non-combat specialization, she was well versed in the basics of fencing. But my attempts to defeat her in sparring ended badly. She was fast as lightning, and her strikes always hit the mark.
Defeat after defeat, I learned to accept my weakness and work on myself. I understood that to achieve my goals, I needed to become stronger. And I was ready to train hard to one day surpass Naaza and become a worthy adventurer. Each defeat tempered my spirit and spurred me on to new achievements.
Naaza became my first wall that I must overcome. Recently, my birthday passed, and we celebrated it all together. I was glad that I had a Familia. The taste of the birthday cake and the laughter of loved ones remained in my memory forever.
It has been two months since I have been in the city of Orario. A lot has happened during this time, but I do not regret it. I turned 14 years old, and I have grown taller due to constant training.
I decided to update my stats. I got out of bed, left the room, and went to Miach's room.
"Good morning, Miach-sama."
"Good morning, Kopii. Did you want something?"
"Yes, I want to update my stats."
"Okay. Take off your outerwear and sit on the chair."
I followed Miach's instructions and felt his blood touch my back.
"Good results," Miach said, handing me the paper with the data written on my back.
Strength: I 87
Endurance: H 102
Dexterity: I 99
Agility: H 104
Magical Power: I 0
"Magic"
[ ]
"Skills"
[Copying] "You can be whoever you want, but not yourself"
I looked at my stats, disappointed with their small growth.
"Is this normal, Miach-sama?" I asked.
"Yes," Miach replied.
I left Miach's room, went down to the first floor, wished Naaza good morning, and went out into the street, heading towards the tower where the guild was located. The fresh air filled my lungs, and I felt a surge of energy for new achievements.
