DAUGHTERS

Chapter 8: Test

Charles point of view.

My job for this mission is to get the information to the daughters, and they will carry it out on their own.

There was this movie I watched while growing up. Titled "Twenty four hours".

In the movie, some guys were going to hijack a van delivering money to a bank, but their calculations were wrong as the van went another way.

And they decided to go to the bank because they didn't want to go home empty-handed.

But ours is a bit different, with almost the same content. We will be hijacking a van delivering money to the bank. And, will allow it to get into the bank before making our move, probably.

I said probably because it was left to the daughters to make their move, play their game and decide on how they would make it happen.

I gave the name of the bank. Masks.. They had their customized clothes, the bags to put the money in, and it was left to them.

It's Monday morning. The daughters will be on their first ever mission today.

I woke up fifteen minutes past seven in the morning. I quickly went to the sitting room to give them some advice before they left, but they were already gone.

Their mother was in the sitting room with a cup of tea in her hand and was sitting comfortably while sipping her tea.

She was comfortably sitting on the sofa.

Milan was not the one that gave the daughters training, she was only there to watch us do the training, and she had more confidence in the daughters than me.

She told me to relax, she said the daughters are good enough to sort out such little a mission on their own.

I sat on the dining chair and was tapping the table with my middle finger. I couldn't take it. I put the television on for any breaking news.

Milan was laughing at my curiosity and lack of confidence.

When it was exactly eight thirty in the morning. I have to go and take a hot shower.

Coming out of the long shower that seemed a lifetime to me, I saw Milan in the bedroom.

"How are you now?" She asked.

I did not answer her. I put on clothes and then went to the sitting room. As I got there, my daughters were already sitting, waiting for me.

My mood changed. I was happy, joy was overwhelming me, almost having control over every part of me. Then, I saw the faces of my daughters.

They were frowning. "What could have happened?" Was the question jamming on my head. Just like when bicycles are jammed in the game of cycling.

Suddenly, the joy that was taking control of my body soon turned to curiosity and fear when I noticed they were five instead of six.

My eldest daughter was not there. I asked frankly.

"Where is your sister?"

And they all answered at once... "Inside!"

So I was thinking maybe the mission field, but at least they are all safe. That was what I thought.

Vesta, coming from my room, said "Dad" and walked past me frowning. I couldn't understand what was going on and the processor in my brain was not helping out. It kept prompting questions over questions.

I opened my hands in different directions and asked them for any explanation.

"I had to distract the police, dad. And that's what took us so long. It will not happen again. We are sorry". Said Ace.

So I asked for the money. Vesta answered me and said it was in her room.

My ears rise a bit higher than they used to be.

Now, I understand properly why my daughters are frowning. It wasn't because the mission failed, it was because it took them too long to return.

It is one of the most important things they should keep.

They needed to be weary of time. They must be. That was the thing I did tell them.

Now that I knew that was why they were frowning, I took advantage of it, and asked them to make sure such a thing never repeated itself.

Ace point of view.

When my dad told us that we would be going on a mission, a mission to hijack a van delivering money to a bank, I was worried.

We were well-trained, but it was our first ever mission, we might not yet be working together perfectly, and that could make us fail.

I was looking at Helen who was dancing to the news that had no joyous beat. I was baffled and my dad noticed.

No, not that I was scared, but, I was worried about being a novice and anything could go wrong.

My dad gave us a perfect test. He made it hard by giving us just two hand guns and two bullets, one in each.

Though he always forbids us to take life on a mission.

My sisters went to sleep on the eve of our first ever mission, and none of us talked about the mission since the two days ago that our dad had told us.

That means none of us had a plan.

On the eve of that day, I was on my computer trying to figure out what we could do, and I came up with distracting the police.

Dad always talked about how much a mission could go wrong on a mission, and it could end up with us being in jail.

He built in our heads a complex of fear as high as Burj Khalifa.

He always told us to wash each other's backs and go extra miles to not let our sisters get caught.

Most of his stories in training were based on careless and overconfident people. He was doing that so we can learn and be afraid.

His belief is, once we know we are not invisible, we will be careful, and will never get caught.

The training he gave us was like we would be caught in every step we took.

But, our first mission was so clean and pure.

Helen's point of view.

We were told we would be going on our first mission. I was dancing because I would be having the chance to test all I have been training for years.

Father always made it seem like it was going to be one hell of a thing, but it was as simple as it could be, surprisingly.

Ace's plan was that I chase her in mother's car, while she was on the run with father's car.

I made it look real, and the police bought it.

We got the sum of twenty million dollars which father gave us to share.
