Chapter 4716: Chapter 3789: Peril in the Dark City (15)_2
"It seems this universe is governed well by Mr. President," Shiller thought. Then a car stopped in front of him, and the driver opened the door saying, "Mr. President is waiting for you at the top floor of the Wayne building."
The agent led him to the office door of the Wayne building and pushed it open. Arkham Batman stepped forward to shake hands, but Shiller didn't extend his hand. Instead, he directly looked at his face and said, "Did you see the message I sent you using the Battleworld System? I've gathered other teammates, including The Flash. Let's meet in the Prime Universe."
Arkham Batman remained non-committal, standing in place as he scrutinized him and said, "You're a bit different from my old friends."
"Then perhaps you should redefine your understanding of old friends. No more nonsense, let's go." It wasn't that the agent had any opinion of him, but he was previously irritated by those two people. Arkham Batman had to bring it up, so don't expect a good expression from him.
Arkham Batman walked briskly forward, quickly shoulder to shoulder with Shiller. He too stared straight ahead, only reaching out to adjust his tie, and said, "You remind me of those annoying FBI agents."
"My honor."
The two made their way to the underground garage. Arkham Batman went into a nearby prep room and donned Batman's gear, then they sat left and right in the Batmobile. The atmosphere inside the car was momentarily silent.
"I thought another version of you would come to find me."
"He has other loves."
Arkham Batman could hear the sarcasm in his tone, yet he couldn't help asking, "You're referring to Professor Shiller?"
"Aren't you?"
"It seems your relationship isn't very good."
"Because he just made my left brain punch my right brain. Should I have a good relationship with him?" Shiller glanced sideways at Arkham Batman.
"I don't have a good relationship with other Batmans either."
"You deserve it."
"Thanks."
They picked up The Flash but didn't immediately head to the Universe of the Broken Bat, instead first traveling to the Prime Universe. Upon arrival, Pride and the Primary Universe Batman, along with Greed and Ke Fu—formerly known as Little Bruce—were already waiting in the Batcave.
"Let's take my car," Arkham Batman said, "How should we get there? Use Divine Speed again?"
Pride shook his head and said, "No rush, the driver is on the way."
As he spoke, a massive truck roared out, crashing into Batman's beloved mechanical dinosaur model. A green head popped out from the driver's seat, nodding to the truck, "Get on!"
Shiller looked at the stunned Arkham Batman and said, "Didn't you say to take your car? Get on."
Arkham Batman hesitantly got back in the Batmobile, and everyone else also got in the car. Then he drove the Batmobile into the back of the truck. Jack stepped on the accelerator, darting straight into the Dreamworld.
"Ludicrous," Arkham Batman commented.
"Who's more ludicrous? The Joker driving or Batman sitting?" Shiller asked.
"Both equally ludicrous," the Primary Universe Batman chimed in.
The truck drove through the surreal and fantastic Kingdom of Dreams, and those sitting in the back could even hear Jack humming a tune. Before long, the vehicle stopped. What appeared before them was a dark fissure.
"Thanks, Jack." Pride pulled out two tickets from the pocket of his suit and handed them to him, then said, "Tickets for the latest play starring Miss Selena Kyle. If you don't have time to watch, you can ask Brainiac to sell them for you; one ticket can sell for 500 points."
"I won't go." Greed said to Ke Fu, "Come visit us when you have time. The Holy Sanctuary offers comprehensive tentacle maintenance services, guaranteed to satisfy you. Bye."
Thus, Shiller and the three Batmans got back into the car. The Batmobile drove into the dark space fissure. After a long ascent, the vehicle landed steadily outside a side door of a cathedral.
"There's something strange," Ke Fu suddenly spoke up, "A ghost entity. Trust me, crash through it directly. It can't escape."
Arkham Batman suddenly pressed the accelerator, the engine roared, and the car dashed like an arrow, smashing through the cathedral walls and furniture, leaving the ghost exposed nowhere to hide by the beams of light.
Entangled by tentacles, the ghost gradually became visible. His upper body was still that of Bruce Wayne, but his lower body was like a root system, each root entwined with a building in Gotham. On closer inspection, within the entwined cathedral, Batman using the Death Angel's body and Shiller were also looking out the window.
Ke Fu's eyes surged with intense darkness. In his vision, numerous Black Magic Runes swirled around the body of this Ghost City Batman. It seemed this Batman had performed some taboo black magic ritual, fusing himself with the city. And all the residents in this city had become sacrifices for the ritual.
As the tentacle began tightening, the other party emitted a savage scream. But Ke Fu quickly noticed there was another Batman in the corner, his hands crossed in a strange shape muttering to himself.
"Another one dabbling in black magic?" He impatiently extended a tentacle, swiping it over. The ritual was interrupted, and the opponent was directly flung away. Yet the monster he summoned from the space fissure had already surged out.
"Release the people first," the Primary Universe Batman shouted.
A tentacle lashed fiercely against the cathedral entangled by the roots. Batman and Shiller inside were shaken down. Accompanied by a "crack," the two heavily plummeted to the ground.
Seeing that they had completely suppressed the other side, Shiller was about to say something when the bloodied Laughing Bat got up again and shouted at the Batman using the Death Angel's body: "Look at them! These justice warriors from the Light Universe! Batman! Do you know why the Death Angel is willing to cooperate with us?! Because I told him the truth of the Dark Multiverse!"
"You are pawns, sacrifices! The cities within your universe, the residents within those cities, were destined to be destroyed from the moment they were created. And they, these fortunate ones born in the Light Multiverse, can enjoy a stable life you'll never have. Do you think this is fair?!"
"Do you think they traveled all this way to play saviors out of goodwill?! They just don't want despicable dark entities like you to drag down their universe! The creator has never been fair. No matter how hard you try, your universe is destined for a tragic ending, destined to be gory, brutal, dark. Don't you want to change all this?!"
Batman using the Death Angel's body seemed extremely shocked. Instinctively he looked at Arkham Batman. Arkham Batman remained silent. Then he turned to look at Shiller.
Just in time to see Shiller raising the gun.
"Bang!"
The Laughing Bat collapsed again.
