Days of my Life: REWRITE

Chapter 6: THE GIRL IN MY DREAM

Kakashi almost jumped out of his bed, he sat upright, breathing heavily.

[What kind of dream was that?]

Even though it was a dream, Kakashi was still shocked. The pain he felt was real, it was almost like it had happened before, but when.

But the most important question was:

"Who was that girl? Aya."

Kakashi said as he wiped the sweat off his face, he wanted to stand up when he noticed a girl sleeping on his lap.

[Has she been there the whole time?]

Even though there was a girl on his lap, she was almost weightless. The girl suddenly woke up, she rubbed her eyes as she turned to Kakashi.

There she was, the girl he saw in his dream.

They both stared at each other, the sunlight pierced through the window and reflected on the girl's bright blue eyes, her blue hair was cut short which made it a perfect fit for her bangs which covered her forehead.

She was wearing a transparent nightgown, so Kakashi could easily see her underwear, but his mind was there at the moment.

The girl didn't turn away, she kept on staring into his eyes. With both of them staring at each other, the sunlight that shone between them gave that moment a more cinematic view.

Suddenly, she started moving closer to Kakashi, still staring into his eyes. Kakashi didn't know what to do, so he just stayed still. She kept moving closer to him till she was almost face to face with him.

The moment was ruined as Mira opened the door and saw them in that awkward possible, she quietly kept the clothes that she brought for Kakashi and left the room.

"Ah... I'm so sorry!" Kakashi managed to slip passed her, carried his clothes and left.

.

.

.

"I thought you said there was nobody in the room?" Kakashi asked Mira as soon as he came out of the room.

"Did I?" Mira responded. "Oh, I meant she left on a mission. Sorry for the misunderstanding."

She had a smile on her face.

"It's okay."

"Why don't you come and freshen up in my room instead? Then we could have lunch."

Kakashi took his bath and followed Mira to the canteen. They carried their food and sat in a booth close to the large window.

"Mira, do you know that girl? I mean, like... where is she from?"

"Ayaka has been at the academy for a long time. Why do you ask?"

"Nothing."

"Hey, Mira!" A girl yelled and walked to their table. "Can I join you?"

"Sure." Mira smiled.

The girl nodded and sat next to Kakashi.

"Kurumi, this is Kakashi." Mira introduced Kakashi to the girl. "He's one of the survivors from the gas leak."

[That's what they tagged it, a gas leak?]

"Hi, I'm Kurumi. Nice to meet you." Kurumi said and hugged Kakashi. "I'm glad that you're okay."

Kakashi was surprised, he couldn't understand the girl at all. Tia was their first meeting but she's acting like they've known each other.

"..."

"Aren't you going to each?" Kurumi asked after noticing Kakashi staring at his food.

Kakashi picked up the knife and fork, cut through the thinly sliced beef then chewed. A drop of tear fell from his right eye.

"What is wrong? Don't you like the food?" Mira panicked.

"No, that's not it," Kakashi whispered. "It's good, really good."

"Then what's wrong?" Kurumi asked.

"It's been so long since I ate something this good," Kakashi replied. "We don't get to eat delicacies like this back at the lab. We always ate rice balls till it was beginning to make me sick, we did get to eat something different every once in a while, but, it's nothing special."

"Now you can eat all you want," Mira said. "After all, the food is free."

"You know what, Kakashi?" Kurumi leaned towards Kakashi and whispered into his ear. "Meet me tonight at room 306, I'll make you something special."

Kakashi almost blushed.

"Oh!, look at the time!" Kurumi said, looking at her wrist even though she wasn't wearing a watch. "I better get going on my mission before Kanade-sensei catches me"

Kurumi stood up and ran away from their sight.

"What did she mean by mission?"

"What do you think she meant? You don't just get to stay here for free. Supernaturals who stay at the academy pay for everything by going on missions assigned to them"

"I still don't understand what the academy stands for."

"Okay, but I'm only explaining this once, so you better listen" Mira started. "The school is the result of the alliance the supernatural made with humans. The school is located all over the world and accepts all kinds of people, including witches and alchemists." Mira explained.

"Wait, you mean witches exist? I thought they were wiped out decades ago; at least that's what they told us at the lab."

"Yes, they were killed back then, but after the alliance, it's stopped. As I was saying, the alliance allows supernaturals to live in the human world and return we protect them from demons by dispatching them. The exchange program is a tournament held between all ASE Academies around the world; it helps to check the abilities of students and offer admission to other ASE Academies around the world, but you have to be chosen"

"But, what's in it for the school?"

"Well, you being there helps the school get more jobs from the government, which increases the school's revenue. But the student gets an increase in salary and maybe a promotion, but it's all based on your skills."

"You mean the more exchange programs I participate in, the more chances I have of being promoted?" Kakashi asked.

"Yes, and don't forget the salary," Mira said. "There are also other things you can gain, the handbook will help you understand the basics"

Mira handed a handbook to Kakashi.

"You said something about dispatching demons? What does it mean?"

"It's the same as killing" she answered. "But we shouldn't forget that some of those demons are people's family, so we just use that word to make it less..."

"I know what you mean," Kakashi said, his expression saddened.

"You don't have to be like that"

Kakashi suddenly remembered the interrogator that came yesterday said she'd be coming back. Kakashi stood up.

"I'm heading to your mom's office, are you coming along?" Kakashi asked.

"Don't worry about me, I still need to finish my breakfast"

"Sure." Kakashi nodded and left.

.

.

.

Kakashi went straight to Miss Tokoyami, only to see that the interrogator was already there. He was slightly disappointed, he wasn't to ask her about Ayaka.

"Look who's here," Miss Tokoyami said, calling out to Kakashi. "We were just talking about you"

"Okay, I'm here now" Kakashi replied. "You wanted to ask me something?"

"My sincere apologies for what happened last time," The interrogator said, she was sitting on a chair opposite Miss Tokoyami. "Let me introduce myself properly. I'm Elizabeth, a detective of the London police department and the assistant to the divine sage"

"I'm Kakashi Yami" Kakashi hesitated, he had already told her his name but felt the need to introduce himself again.

"Why don't you come have a sit, Kakashi" Miss Tokoyami invited him to sit on the chair opposite to her. " I'm sure you must have recovered from the incident. So, I want you to tell us what happened at the lab. And what happened to the people who trapped you in there?"

"My memories are still blurry but I remembered some parts of what happened," Kakashi said, so they wouldn't get their hopes too high. "It began about six years ago when I was ten years old."
