DC Heroes in Marvel

Chapter 248: C213

Faced with Anton's questioning, Electro sneered, prepared to die rather than surrender. But before he could act, his mouth betrayed him, spitting out a strange confession.

"They drugged me with the food. I fainted in the prison cell. When I opened my eyes, I was no longer in the prison but in a strange room. I didn't see anyone during the entire process."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Electro froze. Staring at Anton in disbelief, he muttered, "How is this possible? How did you do that?"

"This isn't your time to ask questions," Anton replied, unfazed. He sneered and pressed on. "Tell me what you know."

Unable to resist, Electro confessed further. "The person who contacted me is a hacker whose face I've never seen. But their methods are incredibly advanced. They've been using surveillance cameras across New York to track your movements."

"Hacker?" Anton frowned slightly. "Where is the room where you woke up?"

"Brooklyn…"

Under the influence of the Lasso of Truth, Electro had no choice but to answer obediently. With each word, Anton pieced together the full picture.

Within Hydra, there weren't any notable hackers. But when the concept of a hacker is replaced with artificial intelligence—more precisely, a sentient networked intelligence—there was only one possible suspect.

"Dr. Zola!"

Anton quickly identified his opponent. He pondered briefly before signaling Wonder Woman. Though unnecessary, as his clone, she already knew what he intended.

With a swift motion, Wonder Woman used the Lasso of Truth to bind the electro villain. Then, bending her knees, she launched into the sky like a rocket, carrying him far away.

"Hey!!"

Anton suddenly heard a familiar voice.

Beep, beep, beep!

The truck driven by the Turtles and the police car driven by George Stacy screeched around the corner, arriving too late.

"Anton, where did she take the electro guy?"

"Wait... was that Wonder Woman?!"

"Damn it! I was only one minute late! What did I miss?"

The Turtles stared at Wonder Woman as she disappeared into the horizon, their green faces showing various levels of shock.

Michelangelo, in particular, looked heartbroken. But as an idea struck him, his expression brightened.

"Anton, Wonder Woman's one of us, right? So, we'll see her again, won't we?"

"There'll be plenty of opportunities in the future," Anton assured him.

George Stacy, however, was less optimistic. Getting out of the police car, he rushed over to Anton, his expression anxious.

"Anton, where did she take him? I thought we were returning him to prison."

"Captain Stacy, the situation has changed," Anton replied, his tone calm but laced with a hint of menace that sent a chill down George's spine.

"We've found a better way to deal with him. I can promise you this: he'll never trouble anyone again."

George looked shocked, watching Anton turn and stride into the Wayne Enterprises building. He glanced over at the Turtles, who were doing their best to feign ignorance, and sighed heavily.

"Figures," he muttered. "I knew it wouldn't be that simple."

Beyond New York lies an endless sea.

At this moment, a tall, slender figure dragged another—a blue figure bound by a golden rope—soaring across the sky like a streak of lightning. In an instant, they reached the turbulent ocean.

"You…"

Suspended in the air by the golden lasso, the Electro stared at the beautiful yet serene face before him. Panic, unlike anything he had ever felt, surged within him.

He roared, his voice trembling. "Are you going to kill me?"

"You should have known this day would come," Wonder Woman replied calmly. She released the Lasso of Truth.

Whoosh!

The Electro plummeted through the air, crashing into the surging waves below. The vast, unending sea swallowed him whole.

Zzzztt! Zzzzzttt!

Like a battery falling into water, his powers short-circuited. For the Electro, water was his greatest enemy—a force he could not fight.

Facing the endless ocean, even with his superpowers, he had no escape.

Hovering in the air, Wonder Woman watched coldly as the Electro struggled against the waves before vanishing into the depths.

With her task complete, she turned in a flash and returned to Anton's side.

Meanwhile…

At Wayne Enterprises, Anton approached the chairman's office. Inside, he found the old man and others waiting for him.

"That Wonder Woman…" John couldn't help but ask, "Is she part of the Justice League too?"

Anton shot him a disgruntled look. "John, you've clearly never seen a single DC movie. How do you even have the nerve to ask that?"

"Boss, that was awesome!" Phil interjected with a grin, giving Anton a thumbs-up. "I just saw a ton of photos and videos online. You're trending again!"

"I'm already famous enough!" Anton replied, brushing off the flattery.

After exchanging a few words, Anton noticed the New York police officer entering the room.

He turned to the old man and the others. "It's almost time. Head to meet Osborne and then go straight to Washington. It'll be safer on military territory."

The old man nodded. "Got it. Be careful, Anton."

With that, the group left Wayne Enterprises.

George Stacy, ever tactful, refrained from detaining them for statements. It was clear to everyone what had transpired.

The Electro's attack on Wayne Enterprises had been directed specifically at Anton.

The motive was equally obvious. The Electro was seeking revenge for being subdued by Anton at the previous Stark Expo.

"Anton."

George approached Anton cautiously. As a famous director, entrepreneur, and Batman's ally, Anton held considerable influence. George knew better than to be confrontational.

Politely, he asked, "What did you learn from the Electro? Who's behind the prison breakout? This information is critical for the NYPD. I hope you can share it with us."

"He's got a hard mouth," Anton replied with a shake of his head, withholding the truth.

This wasn't something the NYPD had the authority to handle.

However, there was one thing George could assist with.

"Captain Stacy."

Anton paused, watching George closely. Before the disappointment could fully register on George's face, Anton continued, "I just received some news. It's important for both of us."

"What news?" George asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Kingpin has escaped from SHIELD custody," Anton said nonchalantly. "It seems he used certain connections to make his way back to New York."

"What?"

George's eyes widened in shock, his face reflecting disbelief.

"Kingpin's back?" he muttered, momentarily losing his composure.

The police officers nearby overheard the revelation and mirrored George's stunned reaction.

"Don't worry," Anton said, his sharp gaze sweeping across the room, commanding attention.

"Kingpin himself isn't the threat here. The group that orchestrated his escape is the real enemy. But since they think Kingpin might cause us trouble, let's remind them who they're dealing with. Even if he's free, Kingpin is just a beaten dog we've already crushed once. He poses no real threat."

Turning back to George, Anton continued with authority. "George, mobilize the entire New York Police Department. I want every officer on the streets tracking Kingpin's movements. I'll call Winston and get the Continental Hotel and the High Table to work in full cooperation with the department. From now on, the entire city—every single person—will be our eyes and ears."

He added, "The Justice League will also support your efforts."

When Anton finished speaking, a heavy silence fell over the room.

George stood still, unable to find the words to respond. It felt as though Anton, not him, was now the true head of the NYPD.

"You heard the man!" George barked, snapping out of his daze and turning to the officers beside him. "Get moving!"

"Yes, sir!" the officers replied and hurried to carry out the orders.

"George, don't worry," Anton said as he pulled a cigar from the drawer of the old man's desk. Walking to the window, he lit the cigar, the glow of the sunset reflecting off his calm yet fiery eyes.

"This is our chance. We'll make sure everyone knows who truly runs New York."

George swallowed hard, momentarily stunned. In that moment, he caught a glimpse of Kingpin's shadow in Anton.

But there was no comparison. Kingpin was a relic of the past. Anton was now the undisputed power in New York—a force that even the police had to follow.

Most of the time, Anton operated quietly, not showing his full hand. But in moments like this, his authority was undeniable.
