Demon Slayer: The Tenth Hashira with Dōjutsu

Chapter 81: DSWS: Chapter 81

"Infinity Castle, Upper Moons Assemble (Part 1)"

Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters.

"Is that so? An Upper Moon has been defeated?"

In a mansion at Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, Kagaya Ubuyashiki received the news from a crow: Aoki and the others had killed Upper Moon Six in Yoshiwara's red-light district.

While the weakest of the Upper Moons, it was significant. The Upper Moons hadn't changed ranks in a century, and Aoki and his companions had broken that deadlock.

"Well done!" Kagaya Ubuyashiki, his illness worsening, was covered in a strange purple substance, with vein-like lines prominently visible across his face and body.

"Cough!"

Overwhelmed with excitement at the news, Kagaya Ubuyashiki coughed up blood.

"Kagaya-sama!" His wife, Amane Ubuyashiki, rushed to his side.

But Kagaya Ubuyashiki ignored his illness, muttering, "A century… a century of unchanging circumstances… finally altered."

"Amane, do you understand? This is a portent, a sign of a dramatic shift in fate. This ripple will spread, engulfing its surroundings, causing a massive upheaval, ultimately reaching him."

"Muzan Kibutsuji, I will personally defeat you in our generation. You are the sole stain on our lineage!"

"Cough! Cough!"

Another violent coughing fit seized him.

Infinity Castle.

The vast Infinity Castle, filled with intersecting houses, was deathly silent, illuminated only by faint lights.

The last time Muzan Kibutsuji was here, he purged the Lower Moons, leaving only Lower Moon One, Enmu, alive, who was later killed by Aoki on the Mugen Train.

Clang!

Suddenly, the sound of a shamisen echoed through the silent castle.

The next moment, a figure appeared without warning, even seeming surprised by their own sudden arrival.

Aoki would have instantly recognized him.

Upper Moon Three—Akaza.

"Infinity Castle," Akaza thought, looking around. "Being summoned here means an Upper Moon has been killed by a Demon Slayer."

Akaza was surprised. As an Upper Moon, he knew their immense power. Throughout history, only Upper Moons had killed Hashira, a testament to their strength.

Even the weakest Upper Moon, Upper Moon Six, had killed seven Hashira. The others were even stronger.

He was curious to know which Upper Moon had fallen.

Whoosh!

A beautifully patterned gourd suddenly appeared on the floor nearby.

"My, my, isn't this Akaza-sama?" A voice echoed from within the gourd. A demon, possessing only a head and torso, emerged, resembling an Aladdin's lamp.

The demon's mouth was located where its eyes should be, its eyes on its forehead and mouth. The eyes on its forehead bore the kanji for "Upper Moon," while those on its mouth bore the number "Five."

Upper Moon Five—Gyokko.

"My, you look well. It's been ninety years, hasn't it?" Gyokko said. "I thought you were gone. I was so worried… cough… cough… my heart ached with worry."

Akaza merely glanced at Gyokko before looking away. He was the most ostracized among the Upper Moons, his position similar to Giyu Tomioka's among the Hashira—often disliked.

Giyu Tomioka: I am not disliked.

"Dreadful, simply dreadful. Gyokko can't even count properly after a short time away." From a nearby railing, an old man with a swollen forehead and two horns spoke.

Upper Moon Four—Hantengu.

"The last time the Upper Moons were summoned was one hundred and thirteen years ago."

Ignoring Hantengu, Akaza turned to a woman playing the shamisen. "Biwa, has Muzan-sama arrived yet?"

"Not yet," the Biwa player replied flatly.

Akaza asked, "And Upper Moon One? Where is he? Has he been killed?"

The Biwa player played another note.

"My, my, wait a moment, Akaza-sama. Aren't you worried about me?" A calm, gentle voice echoed, a hand landing on Akaza's shoulder.

A man with white-blond hair and multicolored eyes, his head seemingly stained with blood, smiled serenely. His left eye bore the kanji for "Upper Moon," his right "Two."

Upper Moon Two—Doma.

Incidentally, Doma, the current Upper Moon Two, was the one who turned Gyutaro and Daki into demons. His promotion to Upper Moon Two boosted their power, leading to their own ascension.

"I was so worried about everyone. You're all important companions. I wouldn't want anyone to be absent."

Doma said, his hand still on Akaza's shoulder, who ignored him completely; he disliked Doma the most among the Upper Moons.

Doma then turned to Gyokko. "My, Gyokko-sama, long time no see. Is that a new gourd? Beautiful. I put a newly-decapitated woman's head in the gourd I got from you. It decorates my room."

"Come visit me sometime."

Gyokko dared not provoke Doma, or any of the Upper Moons except Upper Moon Six and Hantengu.

"Get off," Akaza said.

"Hm?" Doma looked at Akaza, confused.

"Get your hand off me!" Akaza's fist connected with Doma's jaw, pulverizing it.

Gyokko and Hantengu were shocked but remained silent.

The injury was insignificant to Doma. Within two breaths, his jaw was completely healed.

Doma didn't seem angry. He smiled, as usual. "My, your punch is quite good, Akaza-sama. Are you stronger than before?"
