Chapter 82: DSWS: Chapter 82
"Infinity Castle, Upper Moons Assemble (Part 2)"
Akaza's temples throbbed. He clearly understood Doma's implication: based solely on their numerical rankings, Doma implied he was stronger.
Akaza was resentful. He disliked Doma and Doma's actions; Doma preyed on beautiful young women, while Akaza preferred devouring the strong and never harmed women.
This was the source of Akaza's intense dislike.
"Upper Moon One was summoned first. He's been here the whole time," the Biwa player announced.
Akaza then noticed a figure kneeling in a room below the structure.
The figure had long black hair in a high ponytail and wore a haori of two contrasting colors. Most striking was the long sword at their hip.
Upper Moon One—Kokushibo.
It was ironic: a demon, sworn enemy of the Demon Slayers, and Upper Moon One, was himself a swordsman.
However, among the Upper Moons, and indeed the entire demon world, no one but Muzan Kibutsuji dared to defy Kokushibo.
Kokushibo held a position second only to Muzan Kibutsuji, not solely because of his rank.
Since the Twelve Kizuki's inception centuries ago, he had consistently held the top position, unchallenged since the Sengoku period by any demon besides Muzan Kibutsuji—and likely never would be.
"I am here. Muzan-sama has arrived," Kokushibo said slowly, his back to the others.
The others were startled. Looking up, they saw a figure suspended upside down in the air.
Muzan Kibutsuji.
Holding a test tube and a dropper, he added a drop of liquid. Muzan Kibutsuji said calmly, "Gyutaro is dead. Upper Moon Six is vacant."
Doma was the first to speak. "Really? I'm so sorry. I introduced Gyutaro. How should I apologize? Should I gouge out my eyeballs, or…"
Muzan Kibutsuji cut him off. "I don't want your eyeballs. I anticipated Gyutaro's loss. Daki clearly hindered him.
If Gyutaro had fought alone, he would have won. Poisoning his opponent would have prevented them from continuing the fight. No, it doesn't matter."
"Tiresome. Another loss to someone with lingering human attachments. But it doesn't matter. I don't have high expectations for you."
"You're saying such sad things again," Doma said. "Have I failed to meet your expectations?"
Muzan Kibutsuji said, "The Ubuyashiki family still lives. The Blue Spider Lily? Why haven't you found it in centuries? I'm beginning to question your purpose."
Muzan Kibutsuji's face contorted in rage.
Everyone bowed, fearing his wrath.
Hantengu: "Please forgive us! Please forgive us!"
Akaza: Silence.
Doma: "I'm not good at searching. What should we do?"
Kokushibo: "I have nothing to say. The Ubuyashiki family cleverly concealed themselves."
Gyokko's response was different.
"Muzan-sama! I'm different! I have found information that might help you achieve your goal! Just recently…"
Before Gyokko could finish, his head appeared in Muzan Kibutsuji's hand.
Muzan Kibutsuji said, "I hate change—changes in circumstances, changes in the body, changes in emotion.
Most changes are deterioration, weakening. I prefer things to remain unchanged, eternally perfect."
"For the first time in one hundred and thirteen years, an Upper Moon has been killed. I am extremely displeased.
Don't excitedly tell me unconfirmed information. You need to work harder. It seems I've been too lenient with you Upper Moons."
"Gyokko, once the information is confirmed, go with Hantengu."
Muzan Kibutsuji casually tossed Gyokko's head aside. Hantengu responded to the order.
"Gyokko-sama," Doma suddenly appeared before Gyokko's head, his usual carefree smile on his face. "What's the information? I want to go too. Could you tell me? Please?"
Before Doma could finish, Akaza appeared behind him, smashing the top half of his head with a punch, leaving only his ears, mouth, and chin.
"Did Muzan-sama order you? Get lost!" Akaza roared.
As soon as he finished speaking, one of his arms was severed without warning.
"Akaza," Kokushibo appeared beside him, his voice slow and cold. "You've gone too far."
"It's fine, Kokushibo-sama. I don't mind at all," Doma said, his head already regenerated.
But Kokushibo didn't stop. "That wasn't for you. I'm concerned that disrupting the order will damage the master-servant relationship."
"If you're dissatisfied, Akaza, you can apply for a battle to change ranks."
Doma interjected. "Don't say that, Kokushibo-sama. Even if Akaza-sama applied, he's no match for either of us."
"I became a demon after Akaza-sama, yet I was promoted first. He's naturally unbalanced. Show him some consideration."
"I deliberately didn't avoid him, considering his feelings. It was just a joke. This kind of playful interaction is good for camaraderie."
Ignoring Doma, Kokushibo continued, "Those in high positions should act with composure. There's no need to nitpick those below you. Akaza, you should understand what I mean."
The camera focused on Kokushibo's face, revealing six eyes. The kanji for "Upper Moon" was on the left eye in the middle row, and "One" on the right. Deep crimson flame patterns marked his left temple and right jaw.
"Of course," Akaza said, his expression darkening. "I will kill you with my own hands."
"Is that so?" Kokushibo said. "Then work hard."
With the sound of the shamisen, Kokushibo's presence vanished from the Infinity Castle.
