Destined Villain's Life

Chapter 10: [10] The old man

The large city that seemed far away, arrived before Zick in a minute.

The whole time, only a handful of vehicles could be seen on the road, beside him.

The greenery around the road was very relaxing, but that wasn't Zick's focus.

'So the whole area belongs to the hospital? The Arshein family didn't hold back while sponsoring this hospital.'

Crossing the checkpoint without any obstacle, a bustling city presented itself before him.

Throttle~!

Zick with his unique black bike gathered many gazes. They couldn't help but turn around listening to the sharp noise from the bike's engine.

Waiting for the road's signal to change, Zick looked around at the news presented on the huge monitors, on the skyscrapers. He began learning about the incidents that happened at this time.

Seeing the signal change, Zick gathered his attention. He began travelling following his memory.

'So the famous evil organization Dragon heir, started showing themselves at this time.' Finding a news familiar, Zick recalled a few memories.

Though the said organization wasn't famous now, it would rise into prominence within two years. Zick worked with them many times, so he was quite familiar with them.

'It seems wrong to call them an organization though, as there are only 7 members in it. However, their skills are trustworthy.'

For now, he decided to note down the dragon heir as a useful bunch. He could try to bring them under him, in the future.

Even after an hour passed, Zick didn't stop travelling - passing countless skyscrapers along the way.

Slowly, the surrounding building began to appear a little old. There weren't as many large buildings as before.

His destination was Ghertec district.

This was the place that Zick escaped after his father died.

The Ethereal destroyed the whole Dejlin heritage and all that belongs to it.

This backwards district was the only place that Zick could run to. And it was also the place where he made up his mind to destroy the Ethereal.

The deeper he went into the district, the less people could be seen on the streets. It wasn't a surprising scene, leaving aside the central city, where all the huge companies competed - the population of the other areas was low.

Finding a few wolfmen, walking along with other humans, Zick knew he was arriving at his destination.

Most of the population in the main city was occupied by humans. It could be seen by this - that it was very hard for non-human races to prosper here. They could only live in backward areas like this.

Zick's image of the non-human wasn't bad.

Looking at the familiar streets, he couldn't help but feel nostalgic.

–Covering his face while walking on the streets, as to not be found out. Moving along the alleyway, where vagrants stayed, to not be seen by others. Many memories rose within his mind.

Almost all the routeway here was memorized by him.

There weren't many other vehicles beside Zick, so he moved freely to his destination.

Soon arriving before a dilapidated building, that seemed to be an abandoned school, he got off his bike.

This was the place he stayed at before his regression.

Though, it would be a stretch to call it home. Zick involuntarily felt relaxed seeing it.

Taking back the bike into his storage ring, he headed towards the building that was separated from the school - appearing more well maintained.

'I wonder if he is already dead...' Zick's thought drifted away.

He didn't live alone here, there was another person who lived alongside him. It would be wrong to call it a person though, as it was a ghost.

Supernatural things such as ghosts were rare, nevertheless, they still existed in this magical world.

Pausing for a second before the building, that seemed like a storage room - Zick pushed its door open. He was greeted by a well maintained room, with tables and an electrical tabletop fan.

The feeling of the room not being used recently still lingered on the air.

Kicking away the plastic boxes of instant noodles on the ground, Zick moved towards the bed, placed at one corner of the room. An old man in his 60s appeared in Zick's view.

Listening to the footsteps approaching him, The old man opened his eyes weakly. Gazing at the young man that appeared before him, confusion flashed within his eyes.

One corner of Zick's mouth perked, he was happy to see an old friend. He didn't feel surprised seeing the old man's body at the end of its life.

"Old man, how does it feel to die?" Zick asked with a calm tone.

The old man's face froze: "Are you...one of those bastards...?"

"Nah, I don't have any relationship with your enemy. So what do you think of my question?" Zick continued questioning. He wasn't really interested in explaining himself.

Sometimes, secrets must be kept deep in your heart. And Zick's revenge was such a secret, he planned on taking it to his grave.

He refused to open up, even if it was a dead person.

The old man took a long look at Zick's face, before letting his whole body relax. It didn't matter at this point, he was already reaching his end.

A hazy light wrapped around the old man's eyes: "I feel...like I'm being...liberated..."

The smile on Zick's face froze and then became normal again. He nodded his head as if he had come to a decision.

The old man before him, provided a lot of help before regression. They had a common enemy in mind too.

However, the only difference being, the old man only hated a single executive of the Ethereal. While Zick hated them all from the bottom of his heart.

And the reason this old man was dying wasn't due to poison, but due to a chronic disease.

'He must have already killed his revenge target. For an old man, he is tough.'

Zick was aware of this seemingly ordinary old man's true identity. He was a retired SS-rank personal, hence, Zick wondered if he should recruit him. But....

'He has already found his peace....Nothing like how I felt while dying...' Zick smiled.

"Well, I hope you can find your family on the other side then." He was of course aware of the reason, why this old man became a bloodthirsty hound, to deal with Ethereal.

"You..." The old man's eyes widened.

'System.'

[Yes]

'....Use a purify spell of the light series on the man before me.'

[50 destiny points will be deducted. Does the host want to continue?]

'Yeah...' Zick decided to learn some magic in his free time internally.

At that moment, a golden light enveloped the man on the bed. His body started to slowly disintegrate into light particles, before vanishing into thin air.

"Why did his body vanish?" Zick frowned.

[Dark elements had deeply taken root into the man's body, hence such a reaction took place.]

"I see...so he lied to me about having some chronic disease. He must have taken some illegal substances to boost his strength to avenge his family." Zick coldly analysed, not sad about being lied to.

'hmm, in the end, I forgot to ask about his name. Well, this isn't the first nameless person I have met throughout my life...'

There were many nameless allies and enemies like this, throughout every part of his past life.

Feeling melancholy, Zick moved at the bed's rear and began destroying the ground. After digging away a layer of mud, a metal case appeared, which he put into his storage ring.

'Many proof about Ethereal's illegal actions exist within it. I should send this to my father soon, he will have a nice time cracking down on them.'

This case was the primary reason for his trip to this area.

Without any hesitation, Zick left the warehouse. He couldn't take any action personally yet, he was just too weak. No matter what, his existence will have to be hidden.

'I need to quickly grow strong. At my current level, I'm just an ant before Ethereal.'
