Chapter 11: [11] Constanz and Alter academy
At the dilapidated gate of the school, Zick turned his head - gazing at the figure jogging towards his location, from the far horizon of the road.
Instantly, his eyes met the other party.
'A familiar face....' Zick squinted his eyes, his mind plunging into forgotten memories.
While the other party, who was jogging at a moderate speed, instantly accelerated, appearing before him almost in a flash.
Swooosh~!
Strong wind pushed all the trash and dust away from the area.
"Zick?! Do you remember me?! Hey! Are you listening?!!"
Hearing the high pitched female voice, Zick paused his train of thought - only to be greeted by a face an inch away from him. Two hands held his shoulders tightly, as if verifying his existence.
[A person with destiny has been found.]
A sharp light passed by Zick eyes, he had a rudimentary understanding of the system at this point. He had to first discover people with strong destiny, before reaping any destiny points.
Destined people not scanned by the system wouldn't provide any rewards, no matter how good their relationship with Zick was.
"I remember you." Taking off the hands holding him, Zick gazed squarely at the girl before him, possessing an age similar to him.
Two silver fox ears stood proudly on her head, while her silver hair was tied into a high ponytail. She belonged to the not very rare spirit fox clan. And she was also one of the few non-human admitted into the academy, alongside Zick.
She wore knee long shorts and a sports bra, seemingly to be out for jogging.
"That's so. I saw your duel, it was unlike anything I have seen! Can you teach me how to use a sword like that~!" The fox girl started waving her hands around, trying to copy Zick's moves.
".... Weren't you a gunsman?" Zick didn't take her words seriously and took out his bike.
The moment Zick had seen her two fox ears, his mind had clicked.
'Spirit fox people = Usable followers.'
Almost all the non-human species were very good to Zick.
It was all thanks to Zick's father - Wildart. The prior senator made many laws and regulations that pushed the non-humans instantly to the level of bottom feeders. Having status comparable to a slave.
These regulations were scrapped by Wildarts and he even provided resources to them. Which caused their favorability towards him to jump immediately, which by extension boosted Zick's image too.
This was also the reason why Zick didn't see the non-humans or demihumans in a bad light - because they were all usable.
But, it couldn't be Zick who extended his hand to recruit them. Hence, externally, he decided to keep his distance from them. Ethereal wouldn't miss out on such information.
'I have access to my father's information network to a degree, alongside the royal hounds. Just these forces are enough for now, I should focus on recruiting the elites from the demi human race, instead of caring about the quantity.'
While taking out gloves from his storage ring, Zick decided to take a look at the system's notification.
[Name: Constanz Gult
Destiny grade: Epic
Destiny: The hero of the broken hearts.
Favourability: 40 (Very friendly)]
[The host's favorability with Constanz is detected. Your destiny has been promoted to very rare. Your luck has grown stronger.]
[Obtained a very rare gift pack and 5,000 destiny points.]
Luck....It really wasn't a thing that Zick liked to trust. He accepted the destiny points though, he knew their value very much - They could act as his life saver.
The very rare gift pack had to be checked for its worth.
'Constanz....She was promoted to a special officer, before my regression. Having authority to look over dozens of districts. I don't know what that hero of broken hearts means though...'
'As for any other information...I remember that she liked exercising and fighting to a degree, through rumors.'
Vrrr~!
Zick paused after starting the bike, turning towards Constanz calmly. He passed on a golden card to her.
"You can come to my father's office if you want to exercise with high intensity, or need any martial arts. Just tell them my name." Zick left, not waiting for a reply.
He decided to order a few of his father's men to recruit her along the way.
Zick didn't mind showing his care to useful tools. He didn't care about Constanz's personality, because he knew that good and evil were two sides of the same coin.
It just took a little change in the narrative to manipulate a person.
...
Alter academy,
It was a name known by everyone in the pristine sky continent, hailed as the best genius cultivation ground.
A pillar for the seedlings of this world to grow and resist future enemies.
To the cadets admitted into it, a special dormitory was provided. And unless for holidays or a special reason, no cadets are allowed to leave this dorm.
Reaching the entrance of the Alter academy, Zick showed his identification card, which was published by the academy.
Crank~
The silver gate split open, exposing the huge pavement leading to the main administrative center of the academy.
'This shitty place covers almost one-tenth of the Main city in the Pristine sky continent. Tch...' Zick couldn't help but frown, while looking at the academy.
Cadets weren't allowed to use private vehicles on academy's property, so Zick could only put away his favourite bike.
Feeling his mana reserve, he calculated: 'Only more than half of my mana has been used to fuel the bike, for the past 3 or 4 hours. I have to get used to it.'
Unable to use mana for around 10 years had messed up his precognition. He could only work hard in this area to improve.
The academy provided tram services throughout its facilities, and they move very fast unlike what people would imagine. Its speed was comparable to a normal bullet train.
A shade of gloom covered Zick's face as he walked towards a tram station, Located right beside the administration centre.
'Was it due to pride? I refused to quit the academy even after losing my mana veins, going through hardship for no reason....' Zick sighed at his past self.
Naive, hot blooded and high self-esteem - this was how he felt his past self to be.
With his mind stuck on the past, Zick didn't notice the gazes looking at him, as he got on the tram.
He was well known throughout the academy.
Especially at this time, caused by the recent 'accident' of safety features failing, while in a friendly competition. The academy announced a whole week off, which liberated the cadets from their strained campus life.
The Alter academy was a very competitive place, where it was hard to recover once your score fell.
The relation between all the cadets was anything but harmonious, because everyone's quality of life depended on their score.
Like Zick's current situation, he was the first rank among the new cadets. Hence, he was provided with a diamond rank dormitory, which was comparable to the best hotels around the world.
There were many other rewards academy provided to cadets, who were placed in the diamond rank class - promoting a competitive environment for lower rankers.
Passing through the checkpoint of the diamond rank dormitory, Zick entered his room on the second floor.
'First, let's see what's in this very rare gift pack.'
